Jeiel's Comment: TO make others like them through a haunting smile is dangerous enough. But to make them pack hunters? Circe, what were you thinking??
The Kobold species exclusive only in the Naether are an attempt to spread 'joy' in the controlled lives of Ozians under Circe's reign. The problem was, their nightmarish vibe scared locals senseless. Compared to actual Kobolds, they are as feral and untamed as Hellhounds. But even Hellhounds fail to match the sickening smiles a Chagrin can deliver.
Chagrins have the feared hues of Ozian ilk - black, with red or white underlining. Their coarse fur runs all over their bodies in an exploded array, giving them the look of a Siberian Husky. Their claws are bent in a way they can't be retracted. Ears pointed in the same manner as horns are sharp enough to pick up sounds from long distances. Lastly, their most haunting feature are their smiles.
These Kobold species have perfect pearly -white canines that they love to show through their wicked grins. In fact, the term of having a 'killer smile' suits them well since their constant leering can place fear in the hearts of unwary individuals.
It's not that they love to do such smiling - this is the only expression they can paint on themselves. Even when angered, flustered or frustrated, they smirk or simper with their teething intact. This was said to be Circe's doing, and sadly it had been passed as a hereditary gene: to smile endlessly.
Fickle and absolute tricksters, Chagrins enjoy instilling fear through their joyous expressions. They are lawless and rarely allow to be dominated by more powerful Naetherkin. They have an obnoxious habit of stalking other beings, preferably human men, as quiet as possible. What is remarkable is that their stalker-like grinning can pierce a person's complacency, even at the distance of half a mile. When a person attempts to search for her, he finds no one. A Chagrin's fur blends so well in the dark, it renders them invisible.
As it happens, the Mamono will appear as if it were a Cheshire Cat - her form nonexistent save for her smiles. The person they stalk would soon feel the smile boring into them, to the point of being driven mad. A few hours more, and what they will only envision in their heads is the smile itself. The person will weaken, mentally, and once the Chagrin catches a whiff of this, she goes in for the kill. She rapes the man to her delight, the man unable to fight back. His world will evidently blacken to seeing the smile and only the haunting smile eating away at his soul.
Chagrins may hunt for men alone, but sometimes they prefer hunting in packs of two to three individuals. They are not fussy in the presence of prey. They would ravish a man altogether, tainting his mind with a lewd smile on his lips.
Chagrins have a unique way of making beings into Mamono. They attack human women and other Mamono species by simply calling onto them from the gloom. They stare at them lengthily, never flinching at the slightest. A message is unconsciously placed on their victim's minds before they disappear - "spread the Word."
The Word is an infectious contagion of a spell, fueled by DE and laced with Miasma. As these words ring into their subconscious continuously, the human woman or Mamono transgresses into a Chagrin, who will be ready to spread the Word - and smile their nastiest.
Chagrins never share their conquests to other Mamonos, even as a pack. They believe the man they acquire is a toy they will possess for their own. The man will have no say to this regard. In fact, the Chagrin will ask for his complete sexual obedience, and since the man is enslaved by her smile, he will not complain.
NOTE: There are rare, silver-underbellied and floppy-eared variants of Chagrins called the Raimer. These albinos are born once in every generation, and their haunting smiles are especially dangerous than the normal red breed, which are called the Husker.
OkAy! We have the Smiledog variant of a Kobold, Chagrin! A creepy one, true to fact. What do you think? Tell me and don't hesitate to leave a comment! Like the main page as well! So, kudos!
