Family: Coel,
Type: Ancient Reptile
Habitat: Forests, jungles, deserts (Reptile Kingdom)
Disposition: Ferocious, honorable, intelligent, calm, lustful
Diet: Meat, large animals
One of the oldest recorded species: they were one of the first diosaur species to walk the land, often being cosidered the base for all carniviourus dinosaurs, beliving that they evolved from them. Due to this: While they are categorized as a member of the Coelo family due to their physical similarities, their bodies are much more primitive and they lack many features of their relatives. They also posess a unique primal form: turning into a relativly large small therapod-like creature. However: their transforming is not due to power but to how ancient their species is. By many this is considered as yet another link to their decendants, such as the famous Tyranno family.
As their bodies are primitive, so are their minds. A Herrera is primarily an instinctual hunter: And they almost never think stratigically, preffering to use their own power to rip their prey apart with their teeth and claws. Do not mistake them as being simple-minded however: they are suprisingly cunning, and only hunt in their usual manner because their instincts take over at the sight of prey, and they can't help themselves at this time. . Their intellect also makes them quite proficcient in the main sciences and even their decendants biology: Because of this if a Tro is unavailable to speak with about Dinosaurian manamo or a typical field of science: a Herrera is often who people will head to next for the information they need. Due to thier smarts, plus a considerable power(compared o most people and manamo at least), they're often figures of respect among the people that surround them, sometimes being considered a sort of protector of the reigon that they live in.
For them each of these to sides of themselves are equally useful they use them to help protect the people that live near them, often being seen as a sort of polie force. Should they see anyone being unfairly treated or a law being broken, they will attack the instigator and try to bring them in(They are almost always succsesful at this, their power being considerable compared to most people and manamo.) After these sorts of arrests they will become very apologetic to anyone who got caught up, often being ashamed that they let innocents get hurt, and for the criminals they judge and punish them by their moral code. And when an individual Herrera is incapable of stopping a particular trouble maker(A Tyranno for instance) they will call on help from other Herreras to help them fight of the hooligan, and while 1-on-1 a tyranno would easily beat a Herrera, a group can usually drive the enemy off at the very least. They do not form packs however and after this the group will usually seprate unless they feel like the are they're all in needs them all to protect it.
Due to their personalities their tastes in men are those who suit heir ideals and Whenever a man comes across them their cunning side immidiatly begins to analyze him, checking him to see if he's worth persuing. For them: their ideal mate must have a strong sense of justice like them AND be able to enforce the peace. They often determine his compatibillity by observing his personality or power, and should he only check out one standard they will take matters into their own hands and subtly attempt to either improve his strength or make him more heroic in personality while upholding their own beliefs. Overtime however:their heart will begin to throb at the thought of training him, and they will gradually fall in love with him. Dispite this budding love however, they will still have their beliefs in justice and will wait untill he has passed their standards, even while they will lust after him when he's not in their preence. Once they feel he meets both of these standards, however, they let loose. They head to him and state their desire of him and their wish to copulate, while most men accept them there are several who occasionally run from them: should this occur, they stop thinking and chase him like any prey or criminal, and will not stop until he is captured and has satisfied their sex-craving(Which is also quite feirce too)
When mating they ravage thir partner, often being rough and not giving him any chance to rest. This is not due to malice however: their minds are simply overrun with pleasure and they simply want more. Despite this though there is a way to turn the tables on them, should their mate have the stanima to turn the tables on them the Herrra will become much more agreeable and submissive, and will allow the man to do whatever he wishes to her. In any case after either scenario the Herrera will consider the man her husband.
After the mating a married Herrera's mannerisms and disposition do not particularly change they still veiw themselves as champions of peace and will continue to protect their area, howerver their devotion to their husband is unquestionable, for them: he is somthing that is just as important as her ideals and she will do whatever possible to please him, even going so far as to attempt to bring down a Gigant for him(although they will usually not be succsesful in these endavors)! A herrera will excpect her husband to help her protect things with her, and will consider him being with her during these times as the ultimate sign of affection as they both uphold the peace. A note of caution for their husbands however: to other Herrera's, the sight of a married one is the sign of a man worthy of being their mate, and sometimes within days a new husband can find himself with a whole harem of Herrera's.
Oddly: when it comes to belief for them they seem to worship a being called the "Acsended scale", coming from a legend. In that story: many millions of years before they were monsterized an individual Herrerasaurs was hunting when it was chosen by a god, and was evolved into a unique being. While they themselves do not know the identity of this being, they veiw that individual as a sort of god, and they all aspire to be what that creature has likley become over the years...Though recent rumors have stated that the being has surfaced, and has taken a powerful position in a kingdom.
While most Herrera's live in tropical places, there are some that can be found near deserts. Curiosly, these Herrera's have a strong dislike of Coel's, considering them to be brutish fools who cause way too much damage, and should a pack of them attack a Herrera, they will preceed to fight the entire gang until they've beaten them all(A relativly easy feat due to their own power) and they will force them to return any items stolen or to help anybody they've attacked . Should a married Herrera encounter a pack of Coel's, she will lead them on a sort of baiting game until their husband is near them, and they will offer the downed Coel's to him as a sort of pet. Due to this it is possible that a man will often end up with a large harem containing Coels and Herrera's.
Here's an image of one in their primal form! (Not my art)
