Family: Lizardman
Type: Reptile
Habitat: Deserts(Reptile Kingdom)
Disposition: Calm, cheerful, warm
Diet: Omnivourus.
They are a subspecies of Lizardmen found in the arid reigons of the Reptile kingdom. To protect themselves from predators they have evolved rough scales: almost spike-like. This gives them a rough looking apperance that to the untrained eye makes them look like a wingless Dragon, giving them their name dispite them actually being a member of the Lizardman family. Their rough scales cover nearly their entire body, even reaching up to the bottom of their chin, when startled, they can puff out the spikes on their face to protect their eyes and such, giving them the bizarre appearence almost like they posess a beard, earning them the first part of their name.
While some would think that their odd appearance and their parent species, that they are quite dangerous. and indeed: Many outsiders mistake them for being a fearsome manamo, they are actually gentle souls however, and would rather flee or use their scales to protect them in a fight. They are quite sluggish: and will usually only move to either eat or play with with friends, their calm go-with-the-flow style making them well liked among others. Even with people who they consider enemies, they always try to see the best in them and will often attempt to befriend them as well(Although these attempts can have...mixed results at best). They also love to work with children: and often teach young hman and manamo children until they get older, for some humans living in the desert, a teaching Beardie is often their first epirience in dealing with a manamo.
When teaching they also bring their daughters along to help teach children, while most of it is pure fun, and the younge Beardie is usually there to learn as well and make new friends, they're also there to scout out potential husbands. Should the young Lizard-girls find a particular boy they like, they become noticably even kinder to him, almost keeping her attention exclusive to him and his needs, and she will try to help the boy however she can, after class, the two typically become friends and enjooy their childhoods together, eventually falling in love the normal non-rapey way. Once they get old enough to that their mothers tell them about mating, however, they will show a determined side of themselves that is quite suprising to people who know them. They will begin to subtly seduce their loved one, often basking in the sunlight while showing off their body, their scales trying to catch sunlight to make them sarkle. Should he remain oblivious to their advances on him however: their methods will get increasingly more blatant and obvious. If even this fails, they will get desperate and take the initiave: and ask him to copulate. By now the man will usually have understood her advances and will immidiatly accept, often apologizing for not realizing sooner.
When mating a Beardie always takes the submissive roll, and will allow herlover to do whatever she wishes to her. Curiosly: the scales under her chin appear to be a sensitive point, and should their mate stroke them in the midst of mating the Beardie will immidiatly climax, and from that point: they consider the two of them married(Although they'd feel this way if they mate normally, they just seem more serious about it when this occurrs.) After the deed is done a Beardie will often lay down on their new husband and simply cuddle with him, exausted and happy that they both enjoyed the love
After the mating a Beardie will become extremley loving towards her husband, and will try to do anything to please him, even learning odd techniques and such for his sake. Oddly: they become slightly clingy when cold, and will constantly rub themselves against their husband to warm themselves up at night or other such times. Even when not doting on him they will always try to have a part of their body touching him, for them this is both a sign of affection and and a great way to warm themselves up.
Do be warned though: one of the rare times a Beardie will fight is when they think their husband is in danger and should they be right, they will save him and fight off any attacker with a zeal like any normal Lizardman. A note of caution: Beardies are often very social towards each other, and can sometimes be found in groups. Should one take a liking to a man and marry him, most often the rest of the group will follow suit, and things simply escalate from there....
Curiosly: a variant can be found near dry forests. Due to they added protection from trees these particular Beardies have lost most of their hard scales, leaving only their soft skin and a few remaining scales. Such Beardies are known as Leatherbacks, and because of their skin their skin is quite fragile. Despite this they also need to soak up more heat and UVB rays from the sun than normal, and as such can be easily found on a hot day.
(Well, I think I've done the oddest Lizerdman species yet....Ah well. I hope you guys like them! IRL Bearded dragons are considered one of the best pet lizards to keep with a very docile temperament, and are often used to educate children about reptiles, so i decided to capitalize on that aspect and make them the kind friendly lizard-woman -Who can sometimes be a friendly children-teacher-...So yeah...If you guys like this one then feel free to leave any thoughts or worthwhile criticism down below! Thanks~!)
