The New Kirin art has a striking appearance. (Art not mine)
Type: Reptile
Habitat: ?????, Great Tower Ruins (only in the Reptile Kingdom)
Diet: Plants, primarily rare and medicinal herbs
Disposition: Prideful, Calm, Stoic, Elusive Lustful, Devoted
A strange and rare dragon that dwells within the Reptile Kingdom, Kirin are especially notable for having a body that closely resembles that of a Unicorns. With a four legged centauroid body, pale skin, pure white scales, equally white manes, and a single azure horn often they are mistaken for unicorns within the kingdom especially since they are very rarely seen and the few times one is seen it usually at a distance and only for the briefest of moments. Despite appearances though, they are in fact a type of dragon. Upon closer inspection it becomes clear that Kirins are reptilian mamono. The fur on their bodies are actually thin, quill like scales mixed with the pseudo-fur that some Reptile Kingdom dragons have been known to have and their hooves are actually a set of three claws that have fused with their feet to form a hoof like structure. Like all dragons they are capable of taking a primal form very similar to a scaly, draconic unicorn. Despite this they rarely use that form since most view it as having negligible differences or even as being a disadvantage.
Kirins are prideful mamono, so prideful in fact that they rarely deign to allow others to look upon them let alone actually speak to anyone. Despite this pride however, they do not behave in arrogant or haughty manner, instead they behave with a calm stoicness that gives them a distinct regal aura. They are supremely aware of their surroundings so it is nearly impossible to sneak up on one and often times they will know of someone entering an area and will have calmly left long before the newcomer is aware of her presence. The only times they are ever seen are at great distance or when they specifically choose to reveal themselves to someone. Even when seen at great distance they will immediately notice the person watching them, as if they can feel that persons eyes upon them and will often calmly walk out of sight never to be seen by that person again. An exact range of where they live is nearly impossible to discern as there have been sightings all over the Reptile Kingdom, from the peaks of the Snowy Mountains to the molten depths of the volcanic zone. In the wide open plains to the dense jungles. Several sea fairers have claimed to have even seen them running across the surface of the water in open ocean. The only place they have ever been reliably spotted being around the Great Tower Ruins. Because of their rarity and elusive nature the Kirin has almost mythical standings. Merely seeing one is said to bring good fortune and is also seen as a mark of great character, though rarely is a person believed when they claim to have seen a Kirin.
Like Unicorns, Kirin do having some healing abilities, however they have become much more well known for having abilities that Unicorns most certainly do not, the total domination of lightening. Kirin not only use lightning but are even said to be the very spirit of the element. They can call a rain of lightning bolts down from the sky with a mere flick of the wrist and move in lightning fast speeds that seem as if they are teleporting. In battle they have been known to create blades of electrical power and cloak themselves in a crackling armor of electricity that deflects nearly any blow. They are completely immune to electrical attacks and have even been seen effortlessly striking down a Zin with a single lightning bolt despite the fact that Zins are normally immune to electrical attacks. Combined with their strength being a match for any other dragon and the Kirins are truly a fearsome mamono in battle made all the fiercer by the fact that that unlike their Unicorn counterparts, Kirin have no qualms with getting into a fight.
When a Kirin decides to find a man, they often reveal herself repetitively in an area, causing rumors to run wild about her being in that area, drawing forth men from all around to come and investigate for various reasons. The Kirin will then silently observe these men, sometimes giving them the barest glimpse of herself to draw them to more remote and dangerous areas, testing their will and endurance. Eventually from the men who make it she will choose one who she will reveal herself to. She appear before him, silently looking down at him as if peering into his soul judging his worth. Should she deem him unworthy, she simply walk away and disappear from his sight forever. Should like what she sees however, she will give him the opportunity to marry her, should he pass a final test. It is unknown what exactly a Kirin is looking for in a man, however the men they select always have two things in common, they have achieved some form of excellence in what they do, and despite this excellence, they remain humble. The test is always one that has to do with what the man has dedicated is life to and it will always be a difficult and grueling challenge that the Kirin will put him through personally. A warrior will have a duel with the Kirin that will push him the brink of death, scholar will have the very limits of his knowledge tested under the most stressful of circumstances, cook will be made to create his most delicious meal with the sparcest of ingredients, and so on. Only a man who has persevered through all of this and risen to the challenge the the Kirin had set forth for him will be deemed worthy of being her mate.
After having been married a Kirin becomes extremely devoted to her husband. She understands the amount or perseverance and dedication it was required for him to prove himself and she becomes determined to give an equal amount of perseverance and dedication to his happiness. She will abandon her previously reclusive ways and instead move in to his home. In public she will always be the calm, regal lady. Briskly and efficiently working to make his life as easy as possible. When alone with her husband her true instincts as a mamono will have fully awakened. Her lust will swell beyond even that of a succubus's despite this however, she will always remain gentle. Instead of forcing herself on him she will wantonly present herself for her husband to claim the prize he had worked so hard for over and over again.
It should be noted that there is a subtype of Kirin even rarer than the normal Kirin called an Oroshi Kirin, they identifiable by the dark navy blue scales and pseudo-fur and just as the normal Kirin controls lightning the Oroshi has complete dominance over ice. They can cause ice to erupt around them generate an aura that freezes anything solid if it doesn't move enough and can generate blades and armor out of raw freazing power.
[Heh but non of you guys expected a unicorn did you? The Kirin is our first mamono based off of an Elder Dragon in Monster Hunters. To make this clear, Kirin are stronger than a wyvern and are in fact a match for full dragons. And in case any of you are wondering, this mamono is based off of the Kirin from the Monster Hunters game, not the mythology, if anyone wants to make a Kirin based of the mythology or off of another piece of media, I won't raise a fuss over it. Information on the Reptile Kingdom and links to the other Reptile Kingdom mamono can be found here: (http://monstergirlencyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:The_Reptile_King/The_Reptile_Kingdom) You can also make suggestions there if you want, just follow the rules on that.
As per my norm, feedback and criticism is welcome and encouraged, so long as your criticisim is more than mindlessly insulting me, I want something useful out of it. So tell me what you think of her]
