Alos raining fire from the skies (Not my art)
Ians, cuddly, but deadly.
Habitat: Nearly everywhere save for cold regions (only in the Reptile Kingdom)
Diet: Meat, preferably large game
Disposition: Devoted, Affectionate, Lustful, Loving, Loyal (Alos: Aggressive, Bold, Tomboyish) (Ian: Calm, Gentle, Warm)
Raths are among the most common wyverns in the Reptile Kingdom, second only to base wyvern that can be found elsewhere. They also look very similar to a normal Wyvern, with scaly bodies, wings in place of arms, taloned feet, long powerful tails, and bony horns and crests adorning their heads. However unlike normal Wyverns, Raths originate from a type of wyvernoid beast that is sexually dimorphic and while all monsterized Raths are female, the dimorphism remains giving rise to two distinct types of Rath, commonly called Ians, and Alos's. Like all dragons they can revert back to their
Ians most commonly have green scales, and on various portions of their body are patches of small, needle like quills, particularly on the tip of their tails. They frequently have a soft voluptuous build with wide hips and large breasts, as well as more developed legs.
Alos's frequently have red scales and thick armor plates along with their scales. They frequently have a leen, more athletic build with smaller breasts and thinner hips as well as stronger wings.
The two types of Rath also differ a great deal in disposition. Ians are usually calm and gentle. Often they are the more nurturing of the two. They commonly stay near a home and tend to whatever business needs to done there though they are not above going off on their own. Frequently their hobbies and interests are those of a more feminine variety, though they do not lack appreciation for other pass times. Alos's are most often aggressive and bold. They are frequently the ones who go off hunting and will travel far and wide in search of prey. They often behave in a prideful, tomboyish manner and often take part in activities that make full use of their athletic prowess.
Both Raths however are extremely lustful. This is because that not only do they lust for a man, they also lust for one another. When a young Rath leaves the nest it is always in search of a mates. Neither of them will be completely satisfied until they have found not only a man but also a member of the other type of Rath. Ians will move from place throughly searching an area before moving on, systematically looking for an Alos to partner with. While Alos's will travel far and wide to find an Ian.
When a pair of Raths do come together they pour their lust into one another, spend large amounts of time intertwined with one another having sex. Even when not having sex they never hesitate to show there affection for one another when the opportunity presents itself. The two will seek out a place to settle down and claim as their territory. The Ian will settle down in the center of that territory and begin preparing a home for her mate and patrol the area nearby. The Alos will travel far and wide, bringing back food and supplies. During the night they shall once again come together and pour their lusts into one another again.
As can be expected, Alos's are fearsome fighters. They prefer fighting from the air. They perform deft aerial maneuvers, often attacking from the sky or hovering just above the ground. They have a strong fire magic allowing them to breath powerful fire balls at their foes and deal out flaming attacks. The talons of an Alos also house a potent venom that will slowly drain a target of its vitality making them easy incapacitate.
Ians are also powerful warriors despite their usually gentle demeanor. Unlike Alos's, Ian fight from the ground, rarely taking to the skies for anything but to travel. They too have powerful fire magic, spitting fire balls and engulfing their blows in flames. Unlike Alos's however, their venom is not held within their talons, but in the quils on their tail. They perform shockingly acrobatic flips, lashing their foes with their tails and filling them with with venom. Often they will use their wings to supplement their jumps in order to perform feets of acrobatics that would be impossible otherwise.
Both Alos's and Ians are powerful fighters in their own right, it is when they are together that they are at their strongest. Team work between an Ian and an Alos is flawless. They dance around each other sowing fire and poison amongst their foes.
Despite having one another, neither Alos, nor Ian wil be completely satisfied. Both will constantly be searching for a human man to take as their mate, however they will only choose a man that they think that both their Rath counterpart and they themselves will approve of. Their tastes are almost always similar and even if they have only just met, they will instinctively know what the other looks for in a man so mistakes are very rare. When either of them find a man who fits both of their tastes, they will immediately go on the attack and attempt to incapacitate him. Should either the Alos or the Ian fail in this, they will quickly withdraw and retrieve their partner and try again together, which almost never fails. Once the man has been defeated he will be taken back to their nest. For their partner to inspect.
Men who fail to meet the standards of both Raths will be simply cast out, often at the foot or doorstep of some other mamono. Those who do meet those standards are in for a true test of his mettle. Both of the Raths will descend upon him and rape him, pushing him to the very limits of his sexual stamina. All the while the two will be driving him on, the Ian giving gentle and loving encouragement while Alos is constantly egging him on. The two will him in their love. The Ian gently and warmly embracing him as she makes love to him, and the Alos roughly bouncing her hips up and down on him. Often it only takes that first night to turn the man into an incubus.
Fortunately for any man claimed by a pair of Raths, after the first night they will turn their lusts to each other as much as to him, making it much easier for him to satisfy them. Raths will often bring their husbands into three ways or use lesbian sex with each other as a form of foreplay to stoke the lusts of their new husband.
As they are with each other, Raths are extremely loyal, loving, and affectionate to their husband. The two will work together to bring him as much happiness as possible. The Ian will guard and maintain their home and will never be without a kind word or encouragement for her mates and the Alos will hunt and provide for her family and will always drive him foreward to achieve his goals. Both of them will show their love and affection for him at every given opportunity and they will stand up to anything to protect him. Because of this, Raths have come to be used a symbol for love and loyalty. The green color of Ians scales are the traditional color used by brides in some parts of the kingdom and many knights use the primal form of an Alos in their coat of arms to symbolize their fearsome loyalty to their lords.
It should noted that Alos's frequently get into conflict with Astals and Seres. Both of the wandering wyverns frequently invade their territory resulting in ferocious aerial duels.
Regardless of wether or not the mother is an Alos or Ian, the offspring has a 50/50 chance of being born as an Alos or Ian.
There are two subtypes of each type of Rath.
The Azure Alos and Pink Ian are both a slightly rarer and stronger sub type of the normal Rath duo. Azure Alos are even more skilled in the air and can strike with immense speed and agility while Pink Ians are even more acrobatic and can lash with their tails for more efficiently. Both have fire powers far more potent than their normally red and green counterparts. Beyond the differences in their color and increased power they aren't very different in terms of personality.
Silver Alos's and Golden Ians are extremely rare subtypes that are most frequently found in the Great Tower Ruins. They are far stronger than even the Azure and Pink varients. Both have scales harder than any steel. The Silver Alos is far stronger flier while the Golden Ians flight has also become a match for any Alos. The Silver and Gold Raths have power to match even full dragons, between this and their great rarity it is quite common for them to extremely arrogant.
There is also a rare mutation that can occur in any type of Rath resulting in a deviant varient.
The Deviant Ian is called a Poison Princess Ian. Her venom is far more potent and her venom glands have become hyperactive, resulting in her scales aquiring a purple tint. Every swing of a Poison Princesses tail causes venom to spray out, often forming toxic clouds behind them. The power of a Poison Princess Ian is a match for even a Golden Ian or true dragon, let alone how strong a Pink Poison Princess or a Gold Poison Princess.
The Deviant Alos is called a Black Flame Alos. Her fire powers have escalated far beyond normal, causing the markings on her wings to develop a faint glow and her scales to turn a darker red color. Each of there strikes is a practically a wildfire and they can create blasts of fire they remain, super heating the area around it before violently erupting into a massive explosion. A Black Flame Alos can contend with even a Silver Alos or true dragon and an Azure Black Flame or Silver Black Flame surpasses even them.
[And here's the final flagship monster for monster hunter and the flagship monster for the first Monster Hunter game, the Rathalos, and as a bonus we have the Rathalos's mate, the Rathian. I feel that this isn't my best work, doing two intricately connected mamono such as the Raths are difficult to write. Information on the Reptile Kingdom and links to the other Reptile Kingdom mamono can be found here: (http://monstergirlencyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:The_Reptile_King/The_Reptile_Kingdom) You can also make suggestions there if you want, just follow the rules on that.
As per my norm, feedback and criticism is welcome and encouraged, so long as your criticisim is more than mindlessly insulting me, I want something useful out of it. So tell me what you think of her]
