You are a young prince of a kingdom and you have a Kikimora who is also your personal attendant and friend since both of you were six years old. Because your older (and only) brother is the heir apparent, he is always on the center of attention, and you are always left unnoticed in the end. However, stepping in the void for attention is your Kikimora’s love and care, and because you were virtually ignored by your family, you were free to play with your Kikimora friend, and as a result, you two have grown closer and inevitably fell in love with each other. You hoped that someday, if things do not change the way they are, you can marry her.
But things did change: Months after your 17th birthday, your older brother died in an accident, making you the heir apparent to the throne. To secure the future of your dynasty, your father has ordered you to pick a wife amongst the beautiful candidates he had picked. However, your father decreed that you cannot marry a mamono since they are not able to bear human males, hence they won’t be able to bear the next heir.
That night after not being able to pick a suitable candidate, saying that you’ll have to think about who is the most suitable wife for you and retiring to your room, you find your Kikimora friend meticulously cleaning your room while wiping her tears.
“Ah, Master! You’re back so early.” You can hear her suppressing her sobs while putting on a happy face. “I’m happy that you’ll be the king. Congratulations.” With that, she moved to kiss you on the lips, but held herself at the last moment.
“I…I love you, but…you need to…you need to marry someone else…” She embraced you as her tears begin to fall and she sobs uncontrollably.
What will you do?
