Family: Raptor
Type: Reptile
Habitat: Varies (only in the Reptile Kingdom)
Disposition: Varies, Predatory (Loyal, Devoted, to packmates and Alpha)
Diet: Meat
Preiys are a common predatory mamono in the Reptile Kingdom. So named due their strong predatory nature causing them to prey upon whatever is small and weak enough for them to bring down. This nature makes the quite troublesome to rural communities due to their habit of hunting helpless livestock, raiding traders, and preying upon lone men who can't fight back. Fortunately Preiys are not very strong, barely stronger than an average human and significantly weaker than a main species Raptor. They depend entirely on speed, agility, numbers, and the specilized adaptations that many of them have. Still a skilled warrior who is able to keep a cool head and keep them from surrounding him should have no trouble contending with a pack of Preiys.
Preiys have fearsome claws on both their hands and feet, like Raptors they have large sickle claws on each foot. Much of their bodies are covered in small, smooth scales. They are commonly petite and less developed than most mamono of their size and have small dull colored crests on their heads. As can be expected their bodies are lean and athletic.
Packs of Preiys are centered around a single alpha, called a Drome. Dromes are identifiable due to being larger and more developed than the average Preiy, having much larger breasts and more developed hips. They have large robust crests, often in bright noticeable colors.
Dromes are every bit as fast and agile as the Preiys who follow them, however they are far more durable and much stronger, far and away surpassing a human or main species raptor. A lone Drome can be quite troublesome for the average fighter and though seasoned warriors who have lived in the Reptile Kingdom can deal with them without too much trouble. Sadly Dromes are almost never alone and command the undieing loyalty of their underlings who are fully willing lay down their lives for the sake of their Alpha.
Fortunately Dromes prefer to stay near the core of their territory, and patrol around the nest, only coming out when their pack is threatened or in need of direct leadership. Often Dromes are quite territorial when confronted with another Drome and two emcountering one another will often end in a fearsome duel, however it is not uncommon for a pair of them to lead a single pack together, usually a pair of twins.
The most notable feature of the Preiys is their adaptability, they are capable of living in a wide variety of regions from the snowy mountains to the volcanic zone with woldly varying adaptations and appearances, this has resulted in four main types of Preiys.
Veloci
Velocidrome says hi
Habitat: Verdent Hills, Jungles, Forests, Plains, coastal regions
Disposition: Playful, Friendly
Veloci are the most common type of Preiys, easily identifiable by their bright blue scales and darker blue stripes. They have two large claw like spurs on their wrists as well as a full set of five clawed fingers allowing them to easily grip and climb and a single flat crest running down the length of their skull, almost shaped like a blade. On Velocipreiys this crest is small and has a dull grey color however Velocidromes have large red crests and have bright red sickle claws.
They are known for being more playful and friendly than other Preiys. Because of this and their lack of any specilized adaptations, they are often viewed as the least threatening of the preys and are often only viewed as a nuisance when attacking livestock.Â
Men who encounter Velocis have little to fear as they are more likely to try and befriend him than attack and politely declining to play with them is usually enough to persuade them into leaving him alone. Though a person who does befriend a pack should be warned as their favorite games usually includes a lot of chasing, a lot of pouncing, and the winner having his or her way with the loser.
Gia
Giadrome does not know whether to rape or cuddle...
Hapitat: Snowy Mountains, Great Tower Ruins, Forests in colder regions
Disposition: Lethargic, Lazy, Gentle, Ferocious
Gias dwell in the colder regions of the Reptile Kingdom, particularly in the snowy mountains and the surrounding woodlands as well as a few small packs living in the upper floors of the Great Tower Ruins. This has resulted in them being one of the rarer breed of Preiys due to limited habitat. They are sometimes confused for Velocis due to having similar crests and a spurs on their wrists, however Gias have snow white scales and light grey stripes allowing them to blend in to their snowy home and the crests and sickle claws of a Giadrome are a bright teal instead of red.
The cold regions that Gias live in slow down their metabolism causing them become more lethargic and sleepy than other types of Preiy. They will spend most of their time either sleeping inside of caves to take shelter from the blizzards or sleeping in the sun to take in as much warmth as possible. They are usually quite gentle and are more than content simply cuddle with each other and any man they have in their group. This however does not meen that they are harmless. Far from it, Gias are more aware of their surroundings then their lethargic demeanor implies and the remote regions they dwell in are scarce in both men and in prey leaving them ravenous for both. In complete contrast to their usual behavior they will ferociously attack prey and raid travelers and villages to feed their pack.
Unlike the Veloci, Gias have another weapon in addition to their teeth and claws. They have a specialized venom gland that instead of producing a poison, creates a chemical cocktail that when exposed to the air reacts by quickly become freezing cold. They spit this freezing venom out at their foes which will seep through clothes and fur and chill the target to the bone. Giapreiys are will do little more than slow down the target and inflict a very cold sensation, Giadromes however are capable of spitting enough of this venom to freeze a person in their tracks.
Men who meet a pack of Gias will not immediately be attacked. Instead they will try to display themselves as they lay there or simply approach him and attempt to hug and cuddle with him and eventually try to mate with him. However as stated earlier, men can be scarce in their freezing home and should a man appear, the Gias will not let him slip through their fingers. Should a man refuse their advances they will attack and attempt to rape him, often dousing him in their venom and forcinh him seek out warmth in their embrace.
Ironically this same attitude of never letting a man escape has ended up making Gias into a sort of savior in the snowy mountains, often those who have succumbed to the harsh conditions of the mountains are found by roving group of Gias and brought to the safety of their den and nursed back to health. Men who are rescued in this way are usually more than happy to repay their saviors with sex.
Gen
Gendrome wants to introduce your face to her foot.
Habitat: Deserts, Crags, Swamps, Forests in arid regions
Disposition: Energetic, Bold, Stubborn
Primarily dwellers of deserts and rocky regions, Gens are fairly common threat to traders and caravans. They are easily distinguishable from other types of Preiys by their sandy green hide and orange stripes. They have two distinct crests running side by side down their heads and have abnormally large canine teeth, giving them an appearance similar to vampire. While the Genpreiys crests are barely noticeable, a Gendromes are quite large and their fangs grow even longer.
Having adapted to the desert, Gens are quite energetic and are almost always on the move. Packs of Genpreiys travel over large territories in search for food and men, both of which being a rare commodity in the wastes where they make their homes. In order to sustain themselves they have grown to be quite bold and stubborn. Fearlessly attacking large game and well guarded caravans and refusing to back down.
Often this would be considered foolish for a mere Preiy, however Gens have a secret weapon. Both their claws and their fangs house a potent paralytic which allows them to attack many foes with impunity. A simple nip or scratch can leave an adult man completely immobilized and a pack can slow down and eventually make a giant beast grind to a halt, afterwards the Gens will help themselves to whatever goods or mates they want or slash and bite their prey until it dies. While the venom is normally only released via a scratch or bite, there has been records of Gendromes who have learned to spit is as well.
Like Gias, Gens will not allow a potential mate to escape, however unlike Gias, they are not patient enough to attempt to seduce him, instead they will simply go straight for the attack. It is actually recommend that is a man can't escape or fight them off, then he should simply lay down and try to be as boring as possible. Gens enjoy the thrill of their prey struggling and fighting back, thus the more a man attempts to avoid their attacks or resist their venom, the more excited they become. Of course actively participating will also encourage them.
Strangely, Gens also live in the swamp, where they have an intense rivalry with the Ios who they share the territory with.
Io
Iodrome thinks you might need another dose...
Habitat: Volcanic Regions, Shorter Mountains, Swamps
Disposition: Lustful, Patient
Known for living in the Volcanic Zones, Ios have red scales with black blotches spattered across their body. They only have two fingers and a single thumb, however the thumb is held so that it is held behind their hand, usually giving the impression that they only have those two fingers. They have a single crest running down their head, though unlike a a Veloci their crest is thicker and points more foreward. Iodromes have a distict purple color across the top edge.
Due to dwelling in the volcanic region, Ios are among the toughest of Preiys, taking beatings that would have dropped the other breeds of Preiy and still keep going. They are also the most lustful, their desire for a man often being compared to that of a succubus. Iopreiys travel through the volcanic region, always searching for a man.
Like Gens, Ios are venomous, however they spit their poison. An Ios venom isn't a paralytic but instead slowly weakens its victim over time. Given enough time and enough venom and it can be fatal. Thus the Ios primary hunting strategy is envenomate their prey from a safe distance and wait for their prey to die. With humanoid races however their venom is laced with demonic energy, causing it to inflate the lust of the victim and making them more sensitive to sexual pleasure instead of killing them.
When a pack of Ios finds a man they will attempt to seduce him, usually being quite bold in it. Displaying their assets and trying to rub themselves on the man as sensually as possible while promising all the pleasure they can give. Should the man refuse, they will simply splatter with their venom and backing off, letting him stew in his venom induced lust before making another attempt. They will continue to do this until the man somehow escapes or he succumbs to the lust.
Ios have also been known to live in the swamp regions. How and why are unknown however they have an intense rivalry with the Gen packs who share the habitat with them.
Preiys are unique amongst Raptor type mamono due to the fact that all of the Preiys are completely sterile and incapable of reproduction, in contrast, their Drome Alphas are fertile enough to make up for the whole pack producing large numbers of Preiys and rarely giving birth to a Drome. When a Preiy has sex with a man, it is not only for the pleasure of doing it, but also a test to see if he is worthy of her Drome. Should the Preiy like him, she will take the man to her Drome, where the Drome will mate with him and decide whether or not to keep him as her husband. After having aquired a husband for their Drome, Preiy packs usually calm down a great deal.
Men who are married to a Drome will find himself being constantly fawned over by the Preiys of the pack who will serve and please him at all times just as they do for their Drome. In contrast however, the Drome will still view herself as the alpha and her husbands superior and thus she will be domineering towards him and demanding sex whenever she pleases. She will keep him in her presence as much as possible so that he is convenient for her to make use of whenever she pleases. Only if the man rapes her into submission or beats her in a fight will she submit to him as the new alpha and fawn over him as the Preiys do.
Occasionally a Preiy from a pack that has already aquired a husband will find another man she will grow fond of and begin mating with. When this happens and a Preiy mates with a man who is not mated to a Drome enough times, she develop into a new Drome. When this happens she seperate from her current pack and form a new one, taking the man with her as her husband.
[Ok, the minion class raptor monsters from Monster Hunter are now a mamono. I wanted to give them a distinctive pack dynamic from the Raptor or Werewolf and make the Dromes relevant so I did this with them. Not to mention the different subtypes. The hard part was keeping their power at a level that makes sense for the monster hunter monster while simultaneously not making them into total losers. Long story short, members of the Hunters Guild are a cut above the average fighter. Information on the Reptile Kingdom and links to the other Reptile Kingdom mamono can be found here: (http://monstergirlencyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:The_Reptile_King/The_Reptile_Kingdom) You can also make suggestions there if you want, just follow the rules on that.
As per my norm, feedback and criticism is welcome and encouraged, so long as your criticisim is more than mindlessly insulting me, I want something useful out of it. So tell me what you think of her]
