Cthuhga is the Dea Monstrum who holds the domain over fire and the fighting spirit. Despite the destructive nature of fire and fighting, Cthuhga’s domain isn’t merely about destruction. The use of fire is also part of creation and fighting is also done to protect and not just destroy something. Because of this, Cthuhga is primarily worshipped by the Lava Golems who see her as a lifebringer, and by the Salamanders who view her as the source of their fighting power and the flames which constantly burn on their bodies.
Cthuhga is primarily seen as a sphere of fire, but if one is to pay attention, they would see within a female adult figure with a voluptuous body and long hair made of fire, in shades of red, orange, and yellow. Her body appears quite similar to an Ignis, save for the appearance of a strange language tattooed into her skin. If they are tattoos or her means of communicating with no air, is up for debate. It is entirely possible that Cthuhga has appeared many times in the mortal plane and had merely been mistaken as an Ignis. However, Cthuhga is capable of taking a gigantic form when the mood suits her, like many of the Dea Monstrum so that is a sure sign of her true identity rather than a simple Ignis.
The Chtuhga Faith is primarily done through offerings burned in her name. Salamanders perform this as a meditative means of burning hers as offerings to Cthuhga. However, the Lava Golems are the one who build temples inside of their volcano homes and throw offerings of food, precious ores, and other valuable things. The offerings made from Lava Golems are prayers for new life to be born from their bodies or from the lava. Because of the greater role Cthuhga Faith plays in their lives, the Lava Golems have made Cthugha their primary deity where the Salamanders keep her in a secondary role. They pursue the Cthuhga Faith as primary force of preserving life, as in their minds, fire once extinguished cannot be reignited, only a new flame appears. Therefore, the preservation of the ‘fire’ of life is considered the highest calling in the Cthuhga Faith.
For all her benevolence in her worship, Cthuhga has been known to cause trouble. Often she clashes with a number of the deities within the Chief God’s pantheon. Why this is, is currently up for debate. Some would say it may be because she does not trust the Chief God’s pantheon of those who have begun supporting Mamono such as Bacchus and Poseidon. Because of this, the Cthuhga Faith treat monster faiths of Chief God pantheon deities with suspicion, although they do not show outright hostility either. On the other hand, the branches of The Order which worship the Chief God’s pantheon take offense to this and often said branches go to seek conflict with members of the Cthuhga Faith, which the Cthuhga Faith does not condemn, reportedly making a number of headaches for the Demon Lord.
In terms of function in monster society, the practitioners of Cthuhga Faith are often called in to dispel the spells and protections made by the Chief God Pantheon. In these modern times, they are less and less called in with cases pertaining to Ares, Poseidon, and Bacchus. Usually they assist in breaking out monster prisoners or breaking open temples in Mamono-conquered domains. They do not desecrate the temples, but merely ensure that said temples do not contain harmful magics, relics and that any people within are not dangerous to the Mamono population.
Because of her physical body, Cthuhga does not often appear in the mortal plain. Just appearing, she can unintentionally cause drought and fires even if she is in her mortal-sized form. Due to this risk, her worshippers do not try to get her attention unless they need to enter a major site of worship, or one of the Chief God pantheon still unfriendly to Mamono directly intervenes.
So as a result, often she sends her own children, the Fire Vampires, from her domain, the star Formalhaut to act as her emissaries. Often they are the ones who find men who strike Cthuhga’s fancy or follow her orders to lead her worshippers in ceremonies or pass on her messages. Often the men collected are taken back to Formalhaut and are bathed in the white fire of Cthuhga’s starlight kingdom and bathe in her warmth. Mythos says that they would be engulfed in Cthuhga’s liquid warmth and bask in the light of her revealed body. The only true signs of these selected men are the ashes of their clothing when the Fire Vampires transport them to Formalhaut.
