The Deep Ones are a race of Mamono who live at the deepest depths of the ocean and are a dedicated race to the worship of the Dagon and Hydra Faith. For a long time they were content to live in their underwater cities. In recent times, with the advent of monsters changing into Mamono, they have been making contact with human ports and seducing men to become their husbands. They are also the Mamono breed who were supposedly born from the union between the Dea Monstrum gods Dagon and Hydra.
Deep ones are Sahagin-like, but are scaled over their entire bodies in a more inhuman appearance than the normal Sahagin. Their bodies are coated in dark blue/green scales which turn white as they reach their fronts. They sport fins on their forearms and calves with a fish-like tail coming from the smalls of their backs. Their hands have wider hands with webbing along with their feet to allow them to swim rapidly through the waters. Their faces are human-like and beautiful with ocean-blue eyes with fin-like ears and one on the top of their head to help them steer in the water. They also have sleek hair which is one of any shade of green or blue, styled in any way they usually wish.
The Deep Ones didn’t often go up to the surface often, usually going to isolated islands to rest in the warm sun as opposed to the colder deep oceans where they make their homes. With how they like to lounge in the sun, they often got mistaken as mermaids. In the older days before the new Demon Lord, they would hide themselves so any knowledge of them were sparse and hearsay at best. After the new Demon Lord took the throne, the Deep Ones changed. When they made contact with Obed Marsh and began to send hopeful Mamono to Innsmouth for husbands, they began showing their generosity.
Innsmouth was a village on the brink of collapse. The fishing boats were bringing in very little and the village had little else to trade to bring in money and people were considering leaving the village to collapse. Obed Marsh returned with the Deep Ones he and his crew discovered and negotiated a deal with them. The Deep Ones were able to force schools of fish towards Innsmouth where the villagers could fish them out. The Deep Ones even sweetened the deal by offering golden trinkets and jewelry which was common to them to help boost the village’s economy. In return, Deep Ones would be allowed to visit the village to find husbands. With the local government being no help and on the verge of bankruptcy and eviction, the villagers agreed to the deal. Practically overnight, Innsmouth was swelling with fish and gold, along with Deep Ones straddling men and enjoying their carnal unions. Not long after, the Hydra and Dagon Faiths got their first dry land chapters.
As a society, Deep Ones are good at striking bargains and are generous in their terms. Although they are expectant in any deal being made with them being held completely. They do not take kindly to dealbreakers and often punish them harshly, although what they consider harsh can be considered mortifying. With their broad hands, their spanking is painful and potent, plus doing it in front of crowds is even more mortifying. Then they take back what they had given the dealbreaker in good faith, which can be devastating in any number of ways. Still, the people who usually go to the Deep Ones are desperate and are not eager to spit in the face of such generosity. More often than not, the Deep Ones are often involved in their husbands’ businesses, trying to do sell the best deals they can for everyone so that everyone can not only thrive, but prosper as well. Such an attitude is often seen in the members who join the Dagon or Hydra Faiths, preaching promiscuity as fertile men and women, but also responsibility and love as parents of the children who eventually result from such promiscuity.
The Deep Ones have an odd life cycle, likely stemming from their days as Monsters. When Deep Ones give birth, their daughters oddly look like baby humans rather than Deep Ones. In their beginning years, these toddlers show absolutely no signs of being Mamono. By the time they approach puberty, these girls begin growing scales, wearing less clothes, develop spines on their bodies as they slowly turn blue. By the time they are matured, by Mamono standards, they have finished their transformation into a Deep One. The final changes from their human form to a Deep One is considered a point if celebration and mark of adulthood, proving these girls are now women, ready to live lascivious lives. Usually the first sign of these changes beginning are the young woman in question having vivid erotic dreams of themselves in Dagon and Hydra’s realm having numerous sexual encounters with the men there.
This life cycle has put The Order on high alert, believing that Mamono are attempting to infiltrate deeper into human society and try to convert territories from within. The Deep Ones consider this train of thought simply stupid since no responsible parent would even consider trying to raise a child in such a hostile environment. When asked why else would their children develop in such a unique way, they simply answer ‘so that we may know what it’s like on both sides’.
