-----------------------------------------------------------
An Arachne specie endemic to Oz. They are Mamonos the Ozian natives fear in hushed voices, for they possess a harsh and ferocious nature towards men and Mamono alike. Their identities are often tagged in contrast to the Lionesses - rulers of the forests of Oz - and for some reason, this credits their huge displeasure for one another.
Legend tells that before the first Lioness became the queen of Needlepoint Forest, the centralmost forest in all of Oz, the primal Bedlam was its unchallenged tyrant : a gigantic, eight-legged monster that sucked blood out of forest dwellers it caught within its reach. Having heard the clamor of her fellowmen, the Lioness took actions into her own claws. She secretly followed the Bedlam to its lair, and as it slept, she crept behind its back - and beheaded the creature. Thinking it had been slain the forest folk hailed her and her race the forest's eternal leader. What they didn't know was that the Bedlam managed to pick its head up and survived, later transforming into a Mamono oddity under the influence of Ozian magic.
The most prominent feature of the Bedlams are that their heads can easily be dislodged from their necks. Like Dullahans, it would appear as if the head were a lid that keeps Demonic Energy inside their bodies. Other than that, they have a massive body volume comparable to Ushi-Onis. Their lower reaches are that of a fat, hairy tarantula's, bearing six pairs of stocky arachnid limbs ending in serrated claws and a pair of pedipalps to pin struggling prey. The ends of the Bedlam arms are needlelike fingers (but they can willingly morph it into human hands). A webbed veil rests above the blackened hair on their heads as a sign of being unmarried, which is later removed when they obtain a husband. A pair of darkly hued eyes accustomed to seeing past the pitch-black of caverns gives them an edge on night travel, along with three smaller pairs rowed on their heads that detect heat signatures of living beings.
Much like their former monster ancestor, Bedlams seek to malign lesser Mamonos wherever they roam. Except, they don't roam much. They are abound in dark places where the sun don't shine, perhaps because the humiliation of the first Bedlam's beheading runs within their genes and they wish to prevent this from happening again. Their maligning of Mamonos occur when such individuals stumble into their lairs, where thin webs placed inside act as sensors that guide them to the trespassers' whereabouts.
The Bedlam's method of feeding is sucking blood, similar to that of the past - but due to Mamono transformation, they prefer to take it from other monster girls, and this is where they display their crooked nature. Capturing prey that stumble within their lairs they bind them in spider thread almost as thin as wires and expose them the pleasures of bondage. During that time, they gently bite at the bound Mamonos' neck and drain blood from her. The bite takes blood and at the same time, sends in portents of DE from her system like poison, twisting the victim's mindset into believing her predicament is a pleasurable experience. After days of being bound, the victim is later freed, energy drained but lust swelling from them. In that likely event, that Mamono will assault any man on sight -- while the Bedlam searches for her next prey.
Bedlam appetites vary. Some of the more sadistic ones keep three to five Mamono captives, feeding on them while binding them in intensifying ways to sate their delight in bondage. Their thin, needlelike fingers are adept in such a way that they can change the form and manner of binding on their captive quarry in mere seconds. Still, they never leave their nests. Their cunning is enough to ensnare would-be meals, and more importantly, a mate to bear their offspring.
If a man wanders in the Bedlam's territory by accident or by her whim, she won't hesitate to capture him. Her fine threads will bind him into submission, giving her the freedom to bite the man gently on the neck. The DE-laced toxin will quickly enter his bloodstream, poisoning his mind with rapturous desire for her while she develops a taste for him through the blood. While bound, the Bedlam will force the man's member upon her core, and rough sex will ensue. Once mana enters her insides, she will awaken to a hunger for spiritual energy, and she will greedily use her own body and her capacity for bondage to get it for herself.
This doesn't mean that escape is impossible. The man can do a very simple deed to ward off the Bedlam. That is, by knocking her head away prior to being bitten. Once her detachable head rolls out of reach, she will be caught in alarm and will be forced to pick it up. Without the head, the body, which develops an inflated plasm of DE for a 'fake' face, will become cowardly and weak-minded. The DE that had been stored within them will fly out into the open and incite the change in their personality, from being utterly cruel and perverse to fearful of the man who had overpowered them. In this juncture, the man can either run - or chose to offer her head in exchange for freedom. Once her head is restored, it may seem like she'd be willing to let him go free, but when the man least expects it he may find himself dragged back into the Bedlam lair by the stalking Mamono who has his scent by her nose.
A husband to a Bedlam is slave to her charms. He won't be able to resist her, as the 'love bites' she give him always betwixt him into thinking 'bondage is an act of love' and 'I want her to bear my seed'. Giving in to her, the Bedlam will employ all her sadistical tactics as much as she wants, leeching off on his mana while she pleasures him. No other Mamono or man will be able to near them too: to what each other may see as a fitting couple, others will be aghast at the Bedlam's ability to behead herself and create a faux head of horror reminiscent of her primordial self.
Bedlams hate Lionesses, as much as the other does in return. If a Bedlam catches and ensnares a Lioness, she will be inclined to rape and toy with her like a cat doing away with her ball of yarn. Sucking her blood will merely be her way of ensuring torment upon her detested rival -- that the Werecat Mamono will feel pleasure when what is being done to her is already beyond the intent of rapture. Lionesses on the other hand, will play it simple; they'll knock the heads of Bedlams out of reach and laugh while the Arachne struggles to regain it. Worse encounters tell of scaling damage in areas where these Mamonos battle for real.
Needlepoint Forest's original ruler, the first Bedlam, is still missing. Only time can tell when the Mamono will attempt to reclaim the position stolen from her by the race of the Lioness.

TL NOTE: Whew! Making her out of a sidenoted monster of Oz? Kind of difficult to piece out. As linked to her data, the real monster, a giant spider, was wiped out by the Cowardly Lion after its head was lopped off. In a sense, I kept her like that and so, made her identity the same as a Dullahan. Except, you won't see her as an easy girl to have. Good luck!!
