You are an adventurer, leaving your hometown/village behind for reasons unknown only to you. Your adventures have taken you to a number of strange places, and you've encountered many strange creatures and beasts. However, you've been hassled and harassed numerous times by the money collectors from the Adventurers' Guild, who are demanding you pay your monthly dues. You've tried to keep up with your payments, but sometimes you just fall short.
In need of some serious cash fast, you head to a nearby tavern, where all rumors and such flow freely, due in no small part to the passing of coins from one hand to the other, and the consumption of alcohol. As you drink a large, cold mug of ale, your ear perks up as you listen to some loud, drunk adventurers talking about some fearsome beast that supposedly encountered and managed to escape from in the mountains to the north.
'It's said that whoever is able to defeat the beast, shall be granted a treasure beyond their wildest dreams,' one adventurer said before collapsing on the table, quite drunk.
Even though you no better than to take the word of some drunks seriously, the rumor about the treasure is just too hard to pass up. Paying your tab, you quickly prepare yourself for the long treacherous journey to the Northern Mountains, where the beast is sure to wait.
A week passes before you are able to even set foot on the mountains, as the word, 'treacherous' didn't do the journey here any justice. It was a miracle you managed to arrive at all, as you've not gotten much sleep since you started, due to being attacked almost every night by some strange creature. Despite that, they didn't seem very strong; almost as if, instead of trying to kill you, they were trying to scare you away, preventing you from getting to the mountain.
Shaking your head, you turn your attention back to the matter at hand, which is getting to the top of this mountain. You sigh as you steadily begin your climb, putting one hand above the other and not looking down for any reason. After a long trek, you finally reach the top and are greeted with a large cave, big enough for some sort of large beast.
Swallowing a lump in your throat, you steel your resolve and walk bravely into the cave, determined to find this so-called 'treasure'. You frown as this 'cave' is a lot larger than you expected, and besides some bats, you've not found any sign of life in this place. After an hour of searching, you're about ready to call it quits, until you see a light at the far end. Rushing forward, your eyes grow big as you have reached the supposed 'treasure'.
A room filled to the end with gold coins, jewels and everything else of value. You prepare to start collecting it all, but as you do, your sixth sense tells you to 'stop', and for good reason. This treasure can't have just been lying here all this time. If it was, someone would have surely found it. You recall what the drunks said about the supposed 'beast' that is supposed to guard the treasure, but besides the bats mentioned earlier, you've found nothing living or otherwise in this place.
As you think on these, you suddenly hear someone talking, but their voice seems to come from all directions!
'Another foolish adventurer coming to take what is not theirs.' The voice says. 'You adventurers are all the same, no different than a common thief.'
You hastily try to explain your actions but are cut off immediately.
'Silence!' The voice yells. 'I care not for your reasons nor your excuses. You have trespassed in my domain, and like all those who came before you, you shall suffer for it.'
You continue trying to explain yourself, but its clear that the voice is not listening. Seeing no other way, you pull your weapon and prepare yourself. You look around, trying to find the owner of the voice, but there is no one here; that is, until you narrowly manage to dodge a breath of hot fire. You look behind the pile of treasure you're hiding behind, and your eyes grow big as you look up to a green-scaled woman with wings, staring down at you with nothing but hatred and disrespect. It's clear now that this treasure is hers, and the supposed beast is true. It is a dragon...
What do you do?
