A mysterious dragon that reigns over the highest reaches of the sky, the Valk is famed for being the fastest flying mamono in the Reptile Kingdom, potentially the world. Counted amongst the highest class of dragons, Elder Dragons, they are capable of shifting the balance of an entire ecosystem with their mere presence, fortunately they travel so quickly and at such a great distance that the effects of they have on an ecosystem are often mitigated.
Valks are rarely seen on the ground often only sighted as they travel, however they travel at such high altitude and are moving so quickly that few ever get a good look at them. Often all that is seen of them is a mass of red energy rocketing through the heavens like a comet, earning the title of the Sky Comet Dragon, or the Red Comet. Up close the Valk is very distinctive. Their bodies are armored with reflective, silvery scales with blade like spines extending from their tail and their claws are long sharp hooks able to grip prey much like a predatory birds. They have a lithe, athletic build with long legs enabling them move quickly when on the ground. The Valks wings are their most distinctive feature however. Unlike most dragons, they do not have webbed wings like that of a bat, instead the each wing has three large digits extending from the main joint. Facing foreward from the main joint and backwards from the tip of each digit are large bladed projections, serving to make the wing incredibly aerodynamic and as a powerful claw like weapon. In order to fly however the wings do not catch the air like a normal dragons, instead at the end of each digit is a vent which can expel enormous amounts of energy very quickly propelling the Valk through the air like a rocket. This allows the Valk to overcome the limitations of more typical biological flight and surpass every other flying creature in the air. One Wyvarian Scholar having said, "The Valk is a dragon whose wings can pierce the heavens." As with all dragons Valks are capable of taking on the more bestial "Primal Form" from the time becore the current Demon Lord.
Valks tend to be shy, reclusive mamono at least from the perspective of the ground bound population, prefering to land only long enough to snatch up prey before rocketing off faster than any other flying mamono hopes to catch up with. When they rest it is only at the peaks of the tallest mountains that few can reach. This is for several reasons. Foremost amongst these reasons is their pride. Their prowess in the air causes them to view themselves as a flying ace and the most elite of all flying mamono. While this opinion is often accurate, it oftem causes them to see themselves as separate from the lesser flyers and the ground bound and rarely see a need to interact with others unless they have specific business with them. While prideful, they are not however arrogant or haughty towards others, often treating others in friendly if formal manner.
Despite their reclusive behavior, Valks often can't resist the urge to sate their curiosity when something catches their eye, and given that they have very keen eye sight it can very easy to draw the attention of a bored Valk. Most often a large flying entity such as an air ship or larger species of dragon can draw in a curious Valk come in to investigate. This however can lead to disaster as many Valks have issues with slowing down or stopping when at full speed and this often leads to a over eager Valk causing a devastating midair collision, sending the unsuspecting victim of their curiosity hurtling back to earth. Sometimes something on the ground can pique a Valks interest usually a man who doing something impressive or out of the ordinary. In which case, the Valk will often land to investigate.
In battle Valks are a devastating force to be reckoned with. Their wings are deadly weapon being used to make stabbing or slashing attacks and are double jointed and can be flipped to face foreward and bring the Valks bladed thruster to bear like a set of giant claws. What's more is that Valks use the mysterious energy known as Dragons Blight. It is the energy they use to give themselves thrust. Disabling magic and elemental abilities, the Dragons Blight is a Valks deadliest weapon. They can breathe blasts of dragoms blight and when they flip their wings around they can fire missile like bolts of dragons blight at foes. When angered Valks expel excess Dragons Blight forming blades of energy and they can charge up enormous blasts of energy.
Valks are not without weakness however. Their bodies a lighter and more easily injured than other dragons and they are exceedingly vulnerable to magical and elemental attack. They compensate for this by forming an aura of dragons blight that shields them from injury and can even be combined with the Valks immense speed to so that Valk can turn herself into a living missile, bit this aura can not be held indefinitely. Because of this Valks prefer to end a fight as quickly as possible unless the battle is in the sky, where the Valks natural speed makes them almost impossible to hit.
In spite of their frailty Valks are rather heroic of others. In their point of view a flying ace's job is to protect those trapped on the ground from threats that they can't stand up to on their own. Valks prove to be courageous, even in the face of more powerful dragons or beasts whose overwhelming might could defeat a Valk in a single blow. Against such foes the Valk will rush into battle performing death defying maneuvers to defend the weak. Valks prove to be especially protective of any man who draws their attention, even going so far as to participate in prolonged ground battles to defend him. Because of this courageous and herpic nature, a Valks primal form or the silhouette of a Valks wings, a silver six pointed star with red flairs erupting from the points, is often used as a symbol for great valor throughout the Reptile Kingdom.
When a man catches a Valks interest as a mate she will often follow him around, watching over him from the sky and guarding from danger. Often she she will seek out men who can travel around easily, particularly if the man travels through the air, thus wanderers, sailors, caravaneeers, and especially the crew members of air ships often end up drawing a Valks eye. As she follows him she will often take time whenever she lands to flirt with him and ask questions in order to decide if he is a worthy mate. Once a Valk has decided to take a man as her mate, she will snatch him up and fly off with him, often at extremely high speeds. She will then take him to a safe place at high mountaintop to mate with him, or even mate with him in mid-flight.
Once married the Valk will often join her husband on his travels. Of course as creature born to move at such extreme speeds, adapting to a life of moving at the more sedentary pace of normal travel often leaves a Valk living a much more sedentary lifestyle. Often a married Valk will spend a great deal of her time lounging about her husbands ship doing very little, at least until a need for her speed arises. Of course this can be easily remedied should her husband ditch the slower mundane method of travel in favor of the Valk flying him. Valks rarely have any complaints about allowing their husband to ride on their primal form especially if it allows them to fly as fast as they please. In the end, dearest, most treasured dream of many Valks is to find a man that they can fly with.
Men married to a Valk often find themselves being able to create an aura of Dragons Blight to shield themselves just like a Valk can, strengthening them and shielding them from harm. They also develop an immunity to being harmed by contact with the energy, though not to being blown up or cut by it. Often they find themselves with far greater stamina than they had before.
A Valk member of the Red-Silver Stars.
Valks are highly valued with the Dragoons as being one of the best dragons in a dog fight there is. Unfortunately due their rarity, Valk riding Dragoons prove to rather rare. The few that do exist are part of an unofficial division called the Red-Silver Stars and are considered to be elite flying aces.
It should be noted that the Valk is part of a trio of dragons known as the Sky Empress Trio. These three races of dragons have a bitter rivalry over claiming dominance of the sky. Each one of them specializing in a very different manner, one using immense power, the second being incredibly maneuverable, and Valk with her extreme speed.
[Alright, I had been hinting at this girl for ages, I had waited up till now due to a lack of information on the Barufaruku/Valfalk. The name Valfalk comes from a combination of the words Valor and Falcon. Being a predatory queen of the sky, the falcon part was well represented however I wanted her to live up tp valor part, so I made the race as a whole a bit more heroic. And yes Jany, you can have a Valk character with red scales. She's a rare mutant that doesn't get anything special other than the unique color. Information on the Reptile Kingdom and links to the other Reptile Kingdom mamono can be found here: (http://monstergirlencyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:The_Reptile_King/The_Reptile_Kingdom) You can also make suggestions there if you want, just follow the rules on that.
As per my norm, feedback and criticism is welcome and encouraged, so long as your criticisim is more than mindlessly insulting me, I want something useful out of it. So tell me what you think of her]
