A primitive mamono whose family is said to be the link between reptilian and mammalian creatures and the earliest progenitor of all mammals despite still being reptiles themselves. Gorgops are fiercely independent desert dwellers. Bearing scaly claws on their arms and legs and a short but sturdy tail. Most notable of the Gorgops physical features is their long fangs giving them a fearsome appearance and deadly bite. Gorgops tend to grow large and heavily muscled, their scales are often sand colored with darker brown markings to camouflage them against the desert sand and rocks and their skin tends to have a dark tan due long hours in sun. Despite being a reptilian mamono, her appearance and behavior gives the impression of a wolf.
Known for their unyieldingly dominant personalities, Gorgops tend to have a low tolerance for the company of their own kind. Should two Gorgops be in each others presence for too long they will clash with one another and as neither will be willing to give way to the other, these disagreements often devolve into violent confrontations. Because of this Gorgops tend to lead solitary lives, guarding and patrolling large territories find enough prey to sustain themselves in the harsh desert conditions.
Despite their solitary existence however they are also known to have a protective. They often make their dens near colonies of Edaphs, trading protection for access to the oasis and medical assistance. Gorgops who live near trade routes often escort merchant caravans through their territory in return for useful goods while some have been known to take smaller and weaker mamono under their care such as the Leopold Gecko. As can be expected, this behaviour makes a Gorgops the bane to any of the more bandit like mamono in the area, especially since a single Gorgops can be a dangerous foe even to an entire pack of Ceols or a small crew of Sandsharks. Though in spite of this protective behaviour, Gorgops tend to keep those they protect at arms length, rarely allowing more than a few of their charges to grow too close to themselves.
Gorgops are incredibly tenacious and vicious in battle. As a heavily muscled mid-sized predator they are exceedingly skilled at throwing their weight around when facing foes smaller themselves or using their greater agility to keep their foes off balance. Though they use their claws and fangs to great effect, their greatest strength is their indomitable will. Even when faced with foes far stronger than themselves, Gorgops will boldly stand up to their foe refusing to give in. Their absolute refusal to submit often allows them to fight well above their weight class pushing themselves beyond the point of exhaustion and continueing to fight inspite of their injuries, forcing their opponent into retreat and even outright defeating them through tenacity alone.
This incredible will power makes them uniquely equipped to stand up to the usual tyrants of the desert, the Apophis and Azi Dahaka, as the will be able to resist their influences not by a special immunity but by sheer force of will alone and fight back even harder. To an Apophis this often means that an area where a Gorgops resides is a lost cause and the Apophis will sooner cut her losses and move on than pick a fight with the Gorgops, however Dahakas view the Gorgops as a unique challenge and often forge fearsome rivalries with this weaker, yet still unconquerable foe.
Being a mamono without fear, when a Gorgops sees a man that she wants she will not hesitate to take him. Their strategies are simple and direct, often a Gorgops will simply pounce on them man, pinning him to the ground before ravish him as she pleases without caring at all for what others might think.
Once a man is claimed the Gorgops will most often carry him off to her den where she will care for him and defend him ferociously. A married Gorgops often dotes over her husband working to keep him happy and healthy in her home, seeing it as her duty to provide for him and protect him. However while a Gorgops sees it as her duty to care for her husband and often takes great joy in doing so, a Gorgops would scede dominance to him just as she would refuse to submit to anything else. She will allow him to try, but this almost always ends in the Gorgops deciding that his efforts are adorable before thoroughly rasvishing him to show just who the real alpha is.
Even after marriage, a Gorgops will still have a tendency to take in smaller and weaker mamono. Often these mamono will become attached to her husband and end up married to him as well, leaving the Gorgops as head of a harem surrounding her husband.
