(Got it!
BTW, I'll be using italic for thoughts and bold for emphasis from now on.)
"Well? Who's first?" Alex throws at the monsters, now hesitant in their approach. "Don't tell me you're scared of thunder?"
"Something's fishy (*badum tss*)... Why aren't they attacking?" Emmeline wonders aloud.
"They probably chickened out, once they realized I'm a lightning elementalist in the middle of a thunderstorm." He sneers.
Suddenly, the unarmored creatures surrounding them turn tail and scramble away, fleeing from friendly fire.
"Watch out! Arrows at 5 o'clock!" Emmeline warns, pointing up at an incoming volley.
"Haven't you guys learned that metal won't work on me?" Alex turns around, chaining hand seals. "Magnet Release: Iron Puppetry!" He rises a hand at the arrows, but it has no effect.
“All wood?!” "Oh, so you did learn! Too bad that still won't cut it." He buries both hands in the ground, summoning a mass of black sand that shields them from the rain of projectiles.
"Oh no, you don't; now it's my turn!" He thrusts his palm forward, sending the shield forth at the recharging archers. Picking up more magnetite — and sea creatures — along the way, the mass grows into a wave large enough to engulf the whole archery unit by the time it reaches it. Alex then clenches his fist and the pile of iron sand compresses, crushing all that were caught within.
