(Lol, nice minecraft house. Did you make it just for this?
Also, don’t forget Caelia’s bit.)
“Hello. Are you the mayor?” Maxon asked as he removed his helm.
He already had a good feeling he was, judging from his attire and home; but wanted to be sure.
{LOL No, I did not make the house myself. I just searched up medieval houses and that one pulled up, and it looked pretty good as a representational structure, so that's what I went with. Also, sorry.}
The High Grass Serpent had lifted its head out of the, well, high grass and looked in the direction of Burden. In some unknown, serpentine language it spoke to him, "Yes? What is it that you wish, fellow reptilian?" it asked. The serpent's forked tongue poked out and wiggled before going back inside of the serpent's mouth. The high grass serpent's girth was that of an average tree's trunk, its eyes were a beautiful grass-green, and it was as long as two pine logs put together by their ends.
MEANWHILE...
As they walked back, Vanitia had contemplated if she would let Ascendare take Burden back and finish her mission, or if she'd take him and possibly her, back for herself.
MEANWHILE...
The mayor had let go of the door and placed his fingertips together in front of his waist, "Yes, I am. Though, I prefer to only be addressed by my name and not my title. Please, do come in, I have a fresh kettle of tea over the fire" he said, moving out of the way and inviting Maxon inside.
Elaine called from the back of her shop, "Just one moment! I'm working on a battleaxe right now" she shouted, still grinding the axe against her grindstone. Her brother however, had carried a few armour breastplates to the front, "Oh, hi!" he greeted, setting them down on the counter. "It's great to see you again. What did you come by for?" he asked, crossing her arms and leaned against the counter's edge.
Burden looked at the paper to see what the problem with the serpent was. "The name's Burden. What's your name?" He asked, making conversation.
Ascendare probably would resist. She seemed rather strong willed...
“Oh, well, thank you.” Maxon replied, slightly taken aback at the invitation.
“Though with respect, I’ll pass on the tea if you don’t mind, Mister…..?”
“Well, I just so happened to find this!” The Wyvern beamed happily as she hefted the mace. “This belongs to your sister, no?”
The serpent moved closer, "You may call me Y'sera" she said. On the paper, Burden could see that the people of the town's only main complaint was the serpent getting too close to their settlement. However, the advisor to the mayor had wrote an extra note, that read: 'Instead of slaying such a magnificent creature, it would be a bit more useful to the settlement. High Grass Serpent scales can be crafted into powerful fertilizer for crops, and they have a reversal affect to their venom. Able to heal instead of poison. If you could, please try and persuade the creature to work with us.'
MEANWHILE...
Vanitia just walked by Ascendare until they reached the town again. "Well, what do we do now? Do we press forward, or stay put for a bit longer?"
MEANWHILE...
The mayor had took the kettle from the fire and poured himself a cup of tea, "Ferris McIntosh" he said, setting the kettle down and sat down opposite of Maxon. "Now then... How may I help you?" he asked.
MEANWHILE...
Elaine's brother had immediately grabbed the mace from Caelia, "You actually got it back?! Sorry for snatching it away from you by the way" he said, admiring the mace and swung it a few times. "Did you have to fight the Hydra?!" he asked, excitedly. He clearly wanted to hear an exciting story.
"Hello Y'sera, that's a beautiful name for such a magnificent serpent. Are you aware of the nearby village? Lots of harpies live there?" He asked.
"Well, I want the money from the quest, so let me get that settled. Then we can press on." Ascendare says, as she begins walking to the farm which had been having fox problems.
"Yes, I am aware of the settlement nearby. Though, I did not know about the harpies living there" she'd reply.
MEANWHILE...
Vanitia nodded and transformed back into her human form Giselle and sat down on a nearby barrel.
"Oh, well that's fine. The people of the settlement have asked for me to come to you, and try and negotiate to see if you'd be willing to work with the people of the town."
Ascendare would approach the farmer's house and knock on the door.
“Well, I’m here about your Hydra problem.” Maxon said, pulling out the quest page.
“Yeah, you could say that we did.” Caelia giggled with a sly wink.
(So, what'd I miss? Guessing about half the story.)
