Thanks. It's been some time since I had the idea, and I've probably forgotten some parts of what I was going to write, but I hope you'll enjoy it nonetheless:
So, I had a crush on a classmate for some time: a Dhampir classmate and long-time friend named Morrigan. So, I wrote her the letter and had it sent to her.
The next day, I talk to her casually during lunch; trying to figure out if she got the letter. I ask her if anything interesting happened recently, but she just says, "Nothing unusual." Confused, I ask if she got anything for Valentine's Day. She just shakes her head.
"No." She sighs and leans in close. "And I thought for sure that someone was going to get me something." It was only long after that I realized who she was referring to. But at that moment, all I knew was that she must not have gotten my letter somehow. I look at her now, figuring I may as well tell her now how I feel. …But I can't.
After classes, I begin heading home; deeply saddened by my own cowardice. However, before I can leave the school property, a hellhound classmate I barely knew suddenly grabs me and pins me to the wall.
"I got a love letter with your scent, boy!"
"Wait; you got the letter?!" I scream in panic. "That letter was not for you!"
"Yeah, sure" She says, "And you aren't just too chicken to even write your own name. Fortunately for you, I like boys I can make nervous"
Again, I insist, "The letter was not for you!" Fortunately, I was making enough noise that Morrigan heard me.
"What's going on here?" She asks as she gets to where we are.
"Morrigan," I blurt out; done being a coward. "I sent you a letter yesterday, but for some reason, this hellhound got it and thinks it was to her!"
In but a moment, Morrigan managed to force the hellhound to let go of me and was now brawling her until she agreed to leave us alone. Once that was done, Morrigan turned to me.
"You sent me a letter? On Valentine's Day?"
"...Yeah," I awkwardly tell her. "Truth is, I've had a crush on you for some time. I just didn't know how to tell you. So, I wrote it down."
"Aw, that's sweet." She says as she helps me back up. "I was wondering when you would tell me."
"Wait; you knew?"
"Of course. You were terrible at hiding it. I would've asked you out, but you were just so shy that I worried it would spook you."
For a moment, I just stand there with the stupidest smile on my face. "So... would you like to go out?"
She just smiles, "I think I would like that."
