Esme simply smiled and waved as Sinclair left.
MEANWHILE...
Giselle was already speaking with the clerk, "Have you seen a Lizardman travel through here?" she'd asked, tracing a circle on the counter. The clerk thought for a moment, "Actually, yes. I believe they're upstairs somewhere" they'd reply. Giselle smirked and looked back at Ascendare, using her head to gesture to the stairs.
{Yes, they're in the same town as Burden, Gwendolyn, Vespiraa, and Violet.}
Ascendare would quietly make her way over to the stairs, ready to finally catch her quarry.
Maxon shrugged again. “Heh, maybe not, but daggers are good versatile weapons; unlike a sword, you can strike with great precision at your opponent’s weak spots. They can also be thrown if necessary, and offer a great deal of utility outside of combat.
Now don’t get me wrong; I’m not ditching my glaive and sword for gods’ sake! But it will be a nice thing for me to have, unlike my bow….”
“But Maxon!” Caelia now spoke up. “You’ve had that bow since we left Abbanor, and you’ve trained so much with it! I think it would be a big waste if you got rid of it” she cautioned.
“Well, look at it like this; if I wanted to shoot someone, or something; I would have to drop my glaive, go through the painstaking motion of drawing my bow from my shoulder, nock an arrow and then draw and aim. In which time, my target would have already fled, taken cover, or rushed me. If the latter happened, I would then have to drop my bow, and go for my sword, since my glaive would already be on the ground.
All in all, it wouldn’t make much sense for me to have a bow, when I have all of these other weapons. Plus, I’m really tired of feeling like a human pack mule, and would like to lighten my load” he concluded.
Once Sinclair made it out of the valley, it was easy for him to retrace his steps and blink his way back to familiarity. In no time hes back to where he left Reeva, Payge, and Syn. Excited about the place hes found he can hardly wait to take them there too.
"Good news everyone!, i found the most fantastic place that i think you all will be quite pleased with!" he beamed with excitement.
"That's wonderful, dear!" Syn said, smiling at him with pride. Payge had made her way over to the group with Reeva. "What's going on?" she'd ask, hugging Sinclair.
MEANWHILE...
Elaine shrugged and held out her hand, "I'll take that bow and quiver of arrows off of your hands. My brother needs to do some training with weapons anyway. That'll be great for him" she said. "As for the dagger. I'll see what I can do."
MEANWHILE...
Gwendolyn would notice the sounds of someone heading upstairs. Sitting up, she floated over to the door and waited.
Unaware of the paranoid phantom, Ascendare would snoop around, sniffing the air to try and find Burden's room by his scent.
Maxon removed his bow and quiver of arrows from his shoulder, before handing them both to Elaine.
“I still think you’re making a mistake….” Caelia said with a pout.
“Relax, will you?” Maxon replied. “Your fire is way stronger than my arrows at range anyway. So it’s not like we’ll be vulnerable from a distance.”
“If you say so” the Wyvern replied, still not entirely convinced.
Maxon then turned back to Elaine “Right, so as for daggers, I’d prefer one that has a twelve to fourteen inch blade, that also comes with a sheath.”
"I have a few of those somewhere" Elaine would say, taking the bow and arrows from Maxon. "Follow me," she said, leading them elsewhere.
MEANWHILE...
Gwendolyn stayed by the door.
As Ascendare walked down the hall, Burden's scent got stronger. The scent seemed to be wafting from the next door on the right.
Happily embracing Payge he twirls with her gently in their hug, before telling her of his remarkable news.
"I found an amazing place, deep within this valley not far from here!"
"Well, let's get going," Reeva said, not wanting to waste any time.
Syn took notice of a particularly strong breeze and the scent of magical energy. "Sinclair, have you brought back any Mamono with you?" she asked.
