"Clearly." Mek said with a laugh. "I'd ask you how you ended up on that beach but it seems like you know just as much as I do."
“It doesn’t make sense. I only remember walking on my daily patrol route, and now I’m here.” Whiskey explained, sounding quite baffled. There was a genuine look of confusion plastered on his face, interrupted by an occasional wince due to pain. “What about you? You don’t even know where we are?”
Kaya simply nodded in response.
"Ah... Well, I'm a hunter. I'm sorta kinda foreign to this continent and while I did have a map it, uh, got ruined by rain. So I've kinda been lost for a couple days now. But I've been managing... Though, I used up the rest of my medicine I had to patch you up." He said as he turned over the meat.
Mek might see the hope drain from Whiskey’s gaze. All he heard was bad news, and considering his current condition, that bad news was amplified. The soldier closed his eyes and started breathing slowly, attempting to calm himself down. “This isn’t good,“ Was all he could manage to say in response.
"I mean, it isn't all bad. Your not dead and you'll be up and moving in the morning. Plus if you want, you can have some of my dinner. Be warned, though, it'll taste a little bland." Mek said, pretty relaxed about the situation... Well, he has been surviving out here for a little while.
“We’re lost in the jungle and I feel like every bone in my body has been snapped. Not to mention there could be vile beasts around us... Say, did you manage to recover my sword?” The man questioned with a raised brow.
"Eh? Sword?" Mek said, looking over and tilting his head in thought. "Nope. It was just you. Probably sunk to the bottom of the ocean." He said, pulling the meat off the fire.
"I'm on a pilgrimage here, and the Baphomet, Jinx, is a uh... Benefactor of sorts, funding my pilgrimage in exchange for acting as a guide for her and her Mimic friend, Amelia." Masumi would explain.
“...Great.” There was a resounding sound of defeat in the soldier’s voice, and he quickly looked up at the sky. “What have I done to find myself here, Chief Goddess?” With a small sigh he returned his gaze to Mek. “I’m guessing you don’t have any spices for the meat?”
What do you think?
