Where I'm standing with this is little different. and I probably am not explaning myself well.
I have read a lot of fantasy, Dragonlance, Forgotten realms, LoTR, just to mention few universes that I'm fairly common with.
So those are the realms I kinds affiliate MGE too, similar, but with completely different due to Demonlord being a succubus, who actually isn't malicious.
But let's start with magic.
Most realms, Mages and such do exist, and they indeed are powerful.
Humans especially are powerful, but due to "short" lifespan of only 100 or so years, (Which can be extended if mage is very powerful) humans tend to be reckless, and greedy, Which has them running high risk of killing themselfs in search of more power.
Also they are mostly jealous of their skills, which they had to learn or create the hard way, they might write tomes of how to, but they dont do much teaching,
Also magic is rather difficult craft.
But let's say, if you go and buy a fighter jet, and manage to fly with it withuot any actual pilot training, and dont die, would be equal to, You being good enough that you don't need to use tools to light up your fireplace. without burning your house at the process.
Here Magic using monsters shine. They either are magic themselfs, or they are teached by their mothers / parents, from early age, Live longer than humans, so 50 year old Baphomet might be just learning what human learned when he/she was 16
And by the time that Baphomet reaches her 300's she perects what the human killed him/herself with when he/she was 26 and it wasn't even offensive spell, Something just went little bit wrong.
And by the time that Baphomet reaches her 800's She's more powerful than any human ever was.
How abour Ogres, or Orcs?
Physicly way more capable than humans, I havn't found anything to refer their lifespan to, but we could questimate that it's roughly equal to humans, or slightly longer. But they rarely get to die from old age, due to combat or powerplays inside their clan.
But it's quite rare to see an orc or Ogre in human settlement drinking in the tavern and talking with other patrons of that establishment. althuogh, it's not unheard of.
But a traveller might run in to orc or ogre settlement which is likely last thing that traveller does. Or they might raid the town that you live in.
Translate that to MGE, and, well read the profiles of said monsters.
What can we find from a Dark Elf? (Or Drow elf)
Notoriously selfish and cruel
Loves to make schemes to benefit him/herself
Except schemes are weak, In fact scheme in a scheme in a scheme is quite pathetic.
But make a scheme in a scheme in a scheme (Repeat 15 times) Well now we are getting somewhere.
And let's remember that murder isn't a murder unless there is a whitness.
But who would whitness anything unless there is personal benefit from it?
In fact, It's business as usual. and it most likely was just self defence.
Yeah, That doesn't exactly work in MGE
And again I say. I prefer the world to be roughly what our realm loked like anywhere between 200's and early 1900's
Sure developement has gone different ways just because it's different realm, other has magic and other doesn't
You have probably noticed that around this planet there is quite differing morals.
For example, In Japan age of consent is 13 years old. and here in western world we would call that rape of a minor regardless of consent.
You probably have heard a abandoned supercars in Dubai.
That's people fleeing from the nation, who probably loaned some money, now they don't have enough money to pay back, and if you miss one loan payment, you are considered either as a thief, or a fraudster, Either way, you are going in to prison... if you are lucky.
And that is just scratching the surface. and this is only humans we are talking about.
Now, make notably larger world, as MGE suggests,
Think how many differing morals there could be, just among humans.
You probably could make distances from city to city larger too, but also make the cities smaller (Medival infra couldn't support cities over 1 million people, even 400.000 would be stretching it)
How many differing social norms, morals, nations, societys, etc. etc. etc. you can create?
Or would each and every community be copy of the nation you happen to live in?
I can accept your views, you love the wholesome scene, and love the "neutral" area of MGE, and there is nothing wrong with that.
I just like to be "order minded" and lose a "fight" or attempt to flee from a mamono. why do I feel that that is starting to be a problem?
