Then there is the lack of actual knowledge or planning.
I tend to use some hard realitys of our world, to place in the fantasy world of MGE.
I mean, If you look at the map of USA. Most small towns are around 60 (100km) miles apart.
On horseback, that's roughly 2 day travel. 3 days of walking at brisk pace, noting that you are most likely carrying some luggage.
Pony express which was all about speed over distance... Well distance was 1900miles, with 184 horse changeovers That's roughly 10 miles with horse change over at "stops" or straight up throw the mailbag to next rider.
Some would say they ride 80+miles/day (Which is possible with horse that's bred to do that. + car with support group following so that there is only rider with relatively small size on the horse.)
Fact how ever is, that human who is in relatively good condition, will outrun an average horse.
Horses run faster, humans run further. Well That was common knowledge 150 years ago. now as populations tend to be in worse shape than 150 years ago that's not the case anymore.
How ever, in quite many scenarios where I happen to mentions that you were going to another town/village, it's treated like 4-5 huor journey at max, and half an hour journey at worst.
Sure, fantasy world, all earth rules dont need to apply, but please, have some sence...
/rant over.
