After two long and terrifying missions, Beatrice the Kobold is finally going home to Southport where her master and her friends are. Spear of Light in hand, she heads back to her home. Back to a normal life...or at least that's what she hopes.
The coachman tips his hat. "Apologies miss, we're here. The town of Southport, we're outside the eastern plaza. You know your way around here miss?" He asks.
"Yeah, thanks for the swift transport sir. Its been a while since I've been here." Beatrice says, smiling as took her stuff and got out of the carriage.
"Anytime miss, enjoy your stay!" He says before directing the carriage back out. The eastern plaza was just as she remembered it. The intricate stone walkways with busy passerby heading to their homes. This area was always the closest to the housing section of the town, the western plaza was where all the shops had been. The northern plaza was where the Arch-Mage's house was which was her destination. The southern plaza was for more of the actual business was done with the trade guilds and such. Beatrice never really went down there, but she still knew the layout. On another note, all the plazas each had a fountain of Arch-Mages who ran the town before starting with the first one at the northern plaza..
Beatrice practically skipped as she made her way to the north plaza, taking in all the sight sand sounds anew. She truly was back, at last! She welcomed the return to routine. The familiar sights of people going about their business, the statues of her Master's predecessors, the distant sound of ocean waves from the Harbor... It was bliss to the homesick mobile.
The people and mamono waved to Beatrice and she did back. She didn't know any of them, but that's just the way things were around Southport. Everyone was just so much more friendly here. So much better than anywhere else she knew. But she skipped along with a smile and a spring in her step. Then there it was. Her Master's home...and a maid who stood in front of the doorway. One that Beatrice recognized. She was the maid from her nightmare.
Beatrice froze up at the sight. Sure, it was just one of the household maids, and sure, it was probably an innocuous coincidence... But the idea that it wasn't petrified her with fear and worry.
"Oh, looks like the master was right. His little dog came back. For a time I thought you had runaway, now here you are again." She said to Beatrice. Yes, she was the rude maid and unfortunately she was still here.
Beatrice spent a few moments collecting her thoughts, before putting on a forced smile. "Yup, and its good to be back... I see that you haven't changed one bit. Still so very... Kind, coming out to greet me as I return."
"I only came out because I couldn't believe the runt of the litter would think of showing her face back here. But enough of our pleasantries mutt, the Master awaits you with our esteemed guest. Do try to remember yourself while you're meeting with them, and wipe your feet while you're at it. The floors were just cleaned." She tells Beatrice before heading inside.
Beatrice raises her arms up to her face and growls into them for a few minutes, until her anger passes. "Ugh... Well it's... It's not enough to sour your mood, right Beatrice!" She'd say, as she walked in. Despite her disdain for the rude maid, she did make sure to wipe her feet. She didn't want to ruin the hard work of the maids, especially when a guest was over apparently.
What do you think?
