After two long and terrifying missions, Beatrice the Kobold is finally going home to Southport where her master and her friends are. Spear of Light in hand, she heads back to her home. Back to a normal life...or at least that's what she hopes.
"First off, I'd like to thank you for all your hard work. I know it hasn't been easy for you, but I appreciate everything you've done as of late." He tells her with a calm smile.
Beatrice beamed at the praise. "I'm happy to be of such great service to you!"
"You did a great job Bea, you really helped out when that town needed to be evacuated." Elanor says with a smile. "Yes, I heard about that as well. I'm very proud of you. But, we're not here to shower praise on you although I wish that were the case. The next point to address is what you retrieved Beatrice. The Spear of Light. We need Elanor to asses her prowess with the weapon. With everything that we've learned so far, it's likely that we'll need its power for the up coming battles ahead." He states.
"Uh huh." Beatrice said. "But what do you mean by prowess with it? It can't be too different from just a regular spear... Right?"
"I'm sure you've felt it already Bea, but that spear is imbued with the Chieftain Goddess' power. The ability to banish corruption, to heal, to provide courage and push someone beyond their limits. Those are all things that the Goddess gives a Hero. If I want to utilize the full potential of the spear I have to attune myself to the power of the Goddess." Elanor explains. "Think of it like wearing the right outfit, one that accentuates your looks. Or something like that." The Arch-Magus says starting to trail off. He was never really good with analogy's, it was of his cuter flaws.
"Ah, right. That makes sense... And so does the clothes analogy." She added. Even if it wasn't true, she wasn't going to come out and say it wasn't a good analogy. "So, I uh, take it you're going to want me to hand it over to her right away, or uh, is there other stuff to cover first?"
"There is one last thing before you can retire to your old room, while you were gone I decided on the next Arch Magus to take my place when I retire. They're currently using the other half of your old room, I hope you don't mind." He tells her.
Beatrice blinked. Retire? Certainly he didn't mean anytime soon, and this was just some foresight on his part, keeping a line of succession going just in case... Right?
"I'm certain... Its fine. Uh, mind if I go meet with them? I'd really like to see whose going to be staying with me, and who you chose as your successor..."
"By all means, go ahead. Hopefully the two of you will get along. Elanor and I will continue discussing other matters. Feel free to return if you need anything else." The Arch Magus tells her. "If you wouldn't mind Beatrice, the spear please?" Elanor requests.
"Ah, right..." Beatrice would grab the spear front amongst all that she had brought with her during her travels and hand it to Elanor.
What do you think?
