Greetings All,
Mm I agree with a lot of the sentiment here. He was a tad obnoxious, and honestly he should have just not said anything about his age.
But I'm here more on a matter of clarity and enforcement. Nowhere in the rules does this place specify this as an "18+ Wiki" if it is 18+ only it should be written in the rules. (And don't give me that 'it's an unwritten rule' Toh-pah'." If it's a rule have the common decency put it down in keystrokes and back up your stance.
I agree with @Presentcontrol and @Ouchmaster5000 In terms nuking Emerald Digimon's account I feel that was just in bad taste. That's a chunk of history that's now been wiped clean away. So from a records perspective that's just piss poor, or at least a tad extreme.
And in the fact that this place is really plain when considering all the content that is out there. (I for one was looking at way worse stuff in my youth, and this place is rather tame in comparison.)
All in all I think the handling by the powers that be was less than stellar, but their word stands so there's really nothing more to do.
Cheers,
The Weary TimeLord.
@The Weary TimeLord Well, you say their word stands and there's nothing more to do, but from what I'm reading on this thread, it sounds like a significant portion of the user base disagrees with the moderators' decision.
I'm not really familiar with the fandom wiki rules but what exactly determines who the moderators' are? If enough people dislike a moderators decision, can the moderators' be replaced with someone more reasonable?
Greetings,
I have no clue how Mods are determined, or if/how they are newly appointed. Perhaps there's a vote to be taken?
Cheers,
The Weary TimeLord.
@Ochiverde @Timjer how did you guys become mods?
Using a school computer with developer mode on is just the most naive thing to do. I'm pretty sure he tried his best to cover it up with the College excuse. But College Computers don't even care about putting restrictions on for the students. I never used college PCs, so I might be wrong. Well, this one of the biggest mistake that he made. I kind of see myself in him, not gonna lie lol. I've had something similar to this happened to me. Oh well, we might see him again years later. Don't feel too bad Emerald, you'll become of age soon.
My goodness. People here talking about other people's lost in this community gives me a real sense of community in this wikipedia. I'm guessing EmeraldDigimon hits harder because of his questions and memes that he posted. Its harsh, and a shame really. He was the odd one out. And I honestly assummed he was much younger than 17 yesrs old. Still don't count for him being underaged, but man. I can't help but think about that person behind the monitor.
Its like what @Ore-samma said. He probably is missing that one thing in his life. I feel like it stumped his growth as a person. Something that could very likely happen to me if things turned out differently. I hope he gets that one thing. Its what every person needs to be sane.
Also, about the Ophelia situation. That was something unexpected. I observed it from afar. I just never thought about it much until now. It's a strange situation, and I think we need keep an eye out on those things more often. I could hope only hope for good things out of that. It did came off as creepy, especially when she reviewed her gender. I would feel very uneasy as well if I was in her shoes. Let's hope for the best.
Man, strange times we're living.
Ooooh, boy, where is this thread going...
To clarify, all I did was inform the admin(s) that there was an (self-admitted) underage user commenting here, which is what has happened before. We don't want to get in trouble with the Staff for talking about sexual stuff with minors, after all. If you don't like that, fine, but that is not a reason to replace the admins here. Wikis are not that much of a democracy, as I can attest to.
Normally, the procedure is just to block the underage user until they are 18 years old. Why Ochiverde chose to permaban him and nuke his comments is beyond me even. You'll have to ask him.
@Ouchmaster5000 While I don't like your tone, I was kinda randomly promoted to moderator after the previous admins left and we needed more members to keep this site up and running. I'm pretty sure it's around the same time Ochi got promoted to admin.
And if people really don't like how this site is run, then just bring it up with Fandom Staff that you wish to replace us. But I highly doubt they'll give your complaints much consideration. Ochi and I didn't really break any of their rules, far from it.
@Timjer I thought the reason Ochiverde permabanned Emerald was because he tried to avoid the ban by creating a new account.
@The Vaudevillain Veteran That's what I initially thought, but on closer inspection it seems Ochi already permabanned Emerald before he made the second account.
What do you think?
