The Game Gets Out of Hand

“All right!” Finally after three hours of play I landed on Boardwalk. By purchasing it I complete my fourth set of properties. Only one of the Danuki are left, the youngest who had foolishly challenged me in the first place. She only had a few bucks and the lowest value dark blue properties left. It was clear that there was no way for her to avoid my minefields of hotels. This was definitely going to be her last trip around the board.

She glared at me as if I was stealing the shirt off her back. “I would like a loan from the bank.”

I gave a small chuckle at what a sore looser she was being. “Not going to happen darling. In order to get a loan you need collateral and you have already mortgaged all of your properties save one. Just be a good girl and accept your loss already.”

The Danuki slammed her paw against the table. “I HAVEN’T LOST! You want collateral? Fine. I wager my future!”

The rest of her family gasped at her audacious suggestion and I felt even my eyes going big. “You know that’s not really part of the game.”

“I don’t care! I am a Danuki and Danuki DON’T LOSE!”

So I quickly handed over a million dollars and we continued the game. Four hours later and she still lost.

“And that was how I made my first business acquisition.”

The reporter hurriedly scribbled down everything I was saying. “I see, I see. So is that how you met your wife sir?”

“Goodness gracious no! While it is true that in business you sometimes lose, I would never marry someone who didn’t know how to cut their losses. No, I didn’t marry her I just worked her hard. Even today Hiromi still works for me.”

The reporter looked a bit uncomfortable. “Forcing someone to work for you forever just because they lost a childhood bet seems rather cruel though.”

I scoffed “You don’t get to be the richest man on the continent by forgiving debts people owe you. It’s not as bad as it sounds. I pay her a decent wage, heck I even helped her find her husband. Believe me she mostly sticks around because of my money, and Danuki are attracted to money.

Speaking of money loving Danuki I believe I am due to meet mine, so that is all the time I have for this interview. Head on over to the secretary and she will show you out.”

I turned paying the man little heed as I turned and strolled down the plush carpet of my penthouse apartment. A couple minutes later I was being whisked by my chauffeur to dinner with my lovely Danuki wife Kaori.
