"why"

This was the one single though he had as he layed on the floor, the building burning as smoke and fire engulfed the place.

His body felt weak, his legs liek jelly, as he crawled through the building, finger tips raw and bleeding.

He couldn't die here, he refused to die.

He just had to find out the answer to that one single though going on in his head.

Even if he had to drag him self out of the maw of hell.

Deteriorating Situation

The Hntsman opened his eye, breathing heavily as he looked around, before relaxing, his hand covering his right eye.

"Just a memory" he muttered to him self as he exhaled.

It had been 2 days since he and his 'companions' had entered the undead lands, carving a path through the thick forest of dead and decaying trees as they headed towards the center, towards the one city in this forsaken place.

The high level of demonic energy had not helped with their travel speed, since it had caused both Sasha and Reina to become very hot under the collar, so to speak, something which the Huntsman had taken notice of.

They were currently sleeping, Reina purring happily, while Sasha seemed to keep mttering in her sleep, something about her being cooled off by a tongue.

That said, through out the day, he felt their gaze on him, they were eyeing him up constantly, no doubt imaging what they would be doing given half the chance.

He was keeping them in line for now, but he knew time was not on his side.

He to was being effected by the demonic energy, seeping at his own reserves of spiritual energy.

The longer he took to get to Julia and get what he needed from her, the less likely he would be able to escape with his humanity intact.

He would become weaker, slower, less alert and more prone to surgestion.

He could very well get taken away by one of the undead residence of this place... if Reina and Sasha didn't pick up on his weakening strength.

He took a vial form his cloak, containing a green substance, undoing the cap, before bring it to his mouth.

The contents smelt horrible, almost sickening, certainly, if any monster with a strong sense of smell got a whiff of it, they would be out cold from the smell alone.

The Huntsman grunted as he drank the contents, throwing the vial away and coughing as he swallowed.

The sound of the vail breaking caused Reina and Sasha to rouse from their slumber, rubbingt heir eyes as the Huntsman looked at them.

"Hurry up, we can't stay here long" he said as he walked off, causing them to quickly scramble to their feet.

Something amiss

The huntsman, Sasha and Reina continued to move through the twisting trees, their pace rapid, soemthing the Huntsman insisted on, saying that the sooner they finished this delivery, the sooner they could leave these lands.

As they continued to walk, Sasha sensed something was off with the Huntsman, he seemed... different from usaul, he wasn't acting like him self.

She had always watched him whenever he entered her tavern in Sanctuary, watching every action, listening to every word.

He had always been calm, controlled, never rushing nor lagging, one set pace and always ensuring that everything went at his pace.

However, right in front of her, he seemed to be rushing, almost desperate to get to his destination, it worried her, maybe he and Julia weren't were more then simply acquaintances, maybe he was in some sort of pain and needed to get help (something she knew he wouldn't openly admit).

There was one more... ligering though she had, one she hoped was true.

She hoped that even him, some one she saw has strong, with an unbreakable will, was finally beginning to succumb to the effects of the dmeonic energy in the air.

After all, every breath of air she took in invigorated her, the air soothing, while at the same time, causing her to heat up.

Admitdly, every sense she had was screaming at her to take him, but she held back, something difficult for a species like the salamander.

She knew he would run at the first sign of trouble and that could potencially cause him to run into the hands of another monster.

She wouldn't allow that, so she continued to desperatly hold back her own desires, waiting for the right oppotunity.

It would arrive sooner then she though.

Oppotunity Knocks

Reina stared at the Huntsmans back, saliva dripping from her mouth.

She had held back over these last few days, she wasn't stupid, she knew she had to allow the Huntsman to get into a state of false confidence, to drop his guard, to show weakness, yet her instincts were screaming at her right now, to jump him, to dominate him, to pin him to the ground and show him who he belongs to as she mounted him in a beastial fury.

These thoughs only stopped when the Huntsman suddenly halted next to a tree, just standing there, which caused Sasha to also stop.

For a few moments, they all stood there, the atmosphere cold and unnerving.

Then it happened, the oppotunity Sasha had been waiting for, the weakness that Reina had been desperatly watching out for.

Ever since he had left Sanctuary, he had not only kepy his guard up all the time, he had moved at a pace that would of exhausted most after a single day, resting for only a a few hours before continuing.

He had kept up a front of strength, even drinking a very powerful stimulant to keep him self going, to not give Reina and Sasha a reason and oppotunity to try and jump him through a mix of fear and awe.

Yet all that was undone in a single moment, a momentary lapse in his concentration.

He leaned against the tree next to him, panting, mind slipping, body tired and exhausted.

The moment he felt his arm rest agaisnt the tree, his mind woke up, his alertness spiked through the roof.

His mind screamed at him for showing momentary weakness, it screamed at him to move, to ignore his exhaustion, to defend him self.

He quickly pulled out another one of his vials, quickly consuming its contents and throwing the empty vial at Reina as both she and Sasha charged at him.

"Your mine" they both screamed as they closed the gap between them and the Huntsman.
