WWYD by Bobruffains: http://monstergirlencyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:795267
Snow gently kissed the window as I gazed out into the darkening landscape, lights from the town below serving as a beacon for what I presumed was the beginnings of an arriving blizzard. I turned back to my friends, all of them leaning in their seats, eagerly awaiting our answer.
“You sure you want us to answer that? The story can get rather sultry and I don’t want to make any of you uncomfortable.” I say.
Eric and his wife Yukio, a Red Oni, downed took a sip from their glass and bottle of wine respectively before Eric spoke.
“You kiddin’? All of us here are married to mamonos, trust us, I think we’re comfortable with things getting steamy.”
“Although,” Yukio began, her speech slightly slurred, “I can’t believe any tale you day involves getting sultry. You seem like a total prude!”
Eira, my wife, shot her a glare, but as she was a Yuki Onna, remained calm and cool, “Yukio, I think you’ve had a little too much to drink. Isn’t that your second bottle? Do you expect your husband to carry you back down the mountain to town?”
“Yep!” Yukio said with a grin as her husband sighed.
Michael put a comforting hand on Eric’s shoulder, “It’s cool man, we can take my truck down, it can carry the weight of a Red Oni and Lamia with ease, let alone two men.”
His wife, the Lamia, named Mai, shot us a glare, and even muffled under blankets the nearly mummified her, I could tell her slurred tongue had not been dulled in the slightest, “This wouldn’t be a problem if these two didn’t live on the edge of civilization, just before the frozen waste to nowhere.”
“Now, now sweetie, no need to be rude to our host, your just a little cold.” Michael said.
“If it wasn’t for these blankets I’m sure my tail would freeze.” Mai muttered.
“Typical wimpy Lamia, can’t even take a little chill after our host were kind enough to blast the heater for you.” Yukio said after another sip from her wine.
While the couples somewhat drunkenly argued, Eira nudge my shoulder, she was smiling, “You think our story will sober them up?”
I smiled back, “You know it.”
“You know, the cold isn’t the only reason Mai’s in a foul mood. Apparently she and Michael have been having intimacy problems. Sounds a bit like a certain man I know.”
I smirked, “Well, maybe this’ll fix it. Ready?”
Eira nodded, and I cleared my throat, getting everyone’s attention.
“Okay, we’ll tell our tale, hopefully it’ll not only be a good one, but also serve as a warning.”
Mai narrowed her eyes, “What do you mean by that?”
Eira met her glare with a smile, “You’ll see.”
I began the tale.
“I was a repairman and installer of the newfangled computer, it taking the town, and the world, by storm. Though primitive in comparison to the televisions and radios that dominated houses, many people, especially my company, saw potential in it, and as such, I was given the task of insurmountable importance to link these devices up to the people living in the mountains. This was how I met Michael and Mai.”
“We know this, we work with you for goodness sake!” Mai interjected, “Just get to the good parts!”
“Mai,” Michael said nervously.
“It’s fine Michael, I’ll be quick.” I say.
“The mountains, just outside the town are a beautiful, tranquil, place, especially in the snow (Mai shivered at that comment), though being so far from town, I would probably need to go to the cabins regularly in order to optimize the wireless connections, which was and still is, a shaky method of connectivity.”
“I’ll take this part,” Eira says.
“As my husband said, the mountains are indeed beautiful, especially in the snow, but they are also very lonely. This cabin you see, was built by a group of mountaineers I saved as thanks. In fact, they live around here now too, and we’ve become good friends. Granted, as I’m sure Eric and Yukio know for how many times they’ve passed out here,” Eric and Yukio blushed as Eira’s gaze met them, “this is quite a spacious cabin.”
“I couldn’t help but think it a cruel joke, to be alone, in a cabin that could comfortably fit four people, let alone two. In my loneliness, I became eager to heed any man into my home, though most being mountaineers or explorers only stayed for a night, and were always off put by my advances.” Eira leaned in close to me, “Then I met this man. This quiet, soft-spoken man.”
“Eira was very talkative, as opposed to most of my other clients, and while I wasn’t at first, her approachability made her easy to talk too.” I began, “I’ll spare you the repetitive trips to and from here, just know that we became closer and closer as days became weeks.”
“Weeks?! How the hell can a computer take weeks to install?!” Yukio interjected.
I could tell Michael resisted the urge to roll his eyes, and I continued, “Wireless technology is still pretty finicky, even in town, could imagine how rough it would be to set up a connection up in these mountains? Although,” I felt a blush crawl up my face, “I probably would’ve installed Eira’s devices a little faster, if she-”
Yukio leaned in “Ooh here we go! Come on, spill those juicy stories!”
Mai glared at her, “He can’t spill any if you keep interrupting him. Although,” She looked to me and gave me a playful tone that was contrary to harsh one she had since the snow came rolling in, “Something tells me he’s a little shy.”
“Well, I’m not,” Eira said with a smile as she wrapped her arms around me, making me only blush harder, “It took a week of convincing, but he finally went through with it and I would melt at his touch, or his tongue, something he was very generous with.” My wife giggled at how red I knew I was becoming, “You never had a problem convincing your boss about the extra here, did you honey?”
“N-no.” I stammered. “He’s a great guy, he knew it took at least thirty minutes to get here, and it would take a lot time to get everything calibrated The only time he got suspicious was when I was gone for three hours.”
“Shit, three hours?” Eric said with a laugh, “You two must’ve been really enjoying each other’s company.”
“Not quite.” Eira said, and as if on cue, everyone leaned in. Eira took my hand in hers, “Sure I was facet when he pressed the right buttons, and his body certainly wanted to plug me up-”
“Eira-” I said, covering my face with my free hand from embarrassment.
“But my love would never go all the way.”
“Wait, what?!” Yukio said, she glared at me, “What kind of man just leaves a leaky pipe unplugged?”
From the corner of my eye I saw Mai glare at Michael.
“It’s because I don’t want to have children.” I said, rather hesitantly.
“And while I understood that,” Eira began, “Every unfulfilled day I was getting closer to not taking no for an answer. I don’t want kids either, but I also wanted to feel whole with him, and it was also for his own safety.”
“His safety? Aside from major blue balls I don’t see how he was in any danger.” Eric said as he began to sip his wine.
Eira smirked, “Have any of you heard of the Adbizerine?”
Eric stopped mid-sip as the room was suddenly enveloped in silence, a spine chilling cold suddenly filled the room. Now with everyone’s attention’s fully secured, Eira continued.
“Granted, that’s just what it’s called by my family, I’m sure it has many names. It’s beast that stalks the land, sea, and sky, searching for men with pent up spiritual energy, men whom have not been satisfied by their mamono lovers or wives. If it gets it clutches on such a man, it not only drains him of his spiritual energy, but his very soul. The mamono who failed to satisfy their beloved is then left a widow, and visited in the dead of night by the beast and branded for their failing. Such a brand makes them look repulsive to all men who see them, and soon these unfortunate mamonos die of broken hearts.”
“Sounds like a really shitty boogey man.” Michael muttered.
From underneath the table I could pick up a faint noise slithering noise, and Michael suddenly grunted in pain, his hands shooting down to one of his legs.
“So how do you beat this monster?” Mai asked
“You don’t,” Eira say, and even under her blankets all I needed was Mai’s eyes to tell she was terrified, “Your best bet is to talk with your man and make sure you solve whatever problems there are in the bedroom.”
“Anyways,” I began, “Even when she told me that warning, I didn’t believe her myself, I figured it was just some family tale, meant to make sure monster girls found themselves a man to continue the family line.”
“Then I saw the tracks outside.” Eira began. Mai was shaking now, and it wasn’t from the cold, “I decided I had to act fast, and on what he said was his last day here, I…I conjured up a blizzard to keep him stuck here.” Eira said rather sheepishly.
“Wait, that wasn’t the blizzard two years ago was it?” Eric asked.
I could sense a hint of anger in his voice, and no doubt Eira sensed it too because she answered him rather hesitantly.
“The very same.”
Eric took a deep breath, before taking the wine bottle out of Yukio’s hands and downing a few long gulps, “My business got snowed in that day! Nobody came to the bar and I lost a shit-ton of money that day! All for you to try and get laid! I swear if you two weren’t my friends Yukio and I would’ve pounded you two into next week!”
While we were sure the wine was worsening his temper, we both felt the urge to apologize.
“Don’t worry about it. It’s all this past, and the business is fine; not that you teetotalers would know.”
“Hey, we come there for the food and trivia night sometimes.” I say,
“People to come to a bar to eat and use their brain. They come there to quench a thirst and not think.” He turned to Eira, “At least tell me he finally gave in and you got what you wanted.”
“Nope.” Eira said as she shook her head, “I love this man but he can be very stubborn sometimes.”
Eric slammed his fist on the table, “For fucks sake Thomas you had a mamono you love throwing herself at you! Are you too stupid to take the hint?”
“It wasn’t that. I-” I hesitated, but felt Eira’s grip on my hand tighten to encourage me, “I was just scared of going that far. Yukio’s right in that I’m a total prude, I was worried a night like she wanted would take the good thing we had and make it something worse.”
Michael and Mai met each other’s glances, before Michael turned away.
I continued, “We eventually got into an argument, and I was done with everything by that point so I headed home, or at least, wanted to head home. On my way down the road, I crashed into a tree I had no idea had fallen, and was knocked unconscious.”
“I was worried about him, and when I went outside, even in the blizzard, I could see tracks of something neither human nor mamono. These prints had four thin circular imprints like it was one stilts, and it’s gait was so uncoordinated and terribly spaced that even I get shivers when thinking about how it must move.” As if on cue, the Yuki Onna shivered, “They circled this entire cabin! And upon closer inspection they followed Thomas’s tire tracks for a few feet before vanishing. That’s when I heard, even above the howling wind, something that was both flapping and buzzing heading further up the mountain.”
“I followed it, without hesitation. I love this man, we argued before and while this one was of a far greater caliber it wasn’t about to break us.”
“That’s when I realized how much she loved me, and how much I loved her.” I said.
“You’re sort of jumping ahead, granted you don’t remember much of what happened.” Eira began. “Now, I know these mountains like the back of my hand, these ‘frozen waste’ as you put it, Mai.” Mai did not meet Eira’s gaze, “I found Thomas and that thing, the Adbizerine, with Thomas in a cave.”
“So? What did it look like?” Michael asked hesitantly.
“It’s probably different to every mamono that sees it.” Eira said.
“Cop-out!” Yukio booed.
Eira glared at her in annoyance, “But if I try to remember what my mind had wisely choose to forgot, I see...” Eira titled her eyes up and began to shiver, I held her close. “A hairy, yet malnourished and fleshy thing. With both leathery wings and insect ones that buzzed incessantly. It’s four, thin stilt like protrusion no natural phenomenon or creator benevolent or otherwise would call dare call legs. It had a very long proboscis, no, it’s entire head was like a fleshy bundle of such wretched things, each the length of an Akaname’s tongue! Each grasping and tasting the skin of my now naked beloved!”
I held Eira close and tight as she closed her eyes and began to shiver intensly, she gripped me tightly and held me close, taking deep breaths I glared at Yukio, who now, along with everyone had expression of pure terror, though she also had guilt.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t realize-”
“It’s fine,” Eira finally says, “I can continue. The only thing my mind can’t expel is its stench. It’s clear it was meant to be a rancid and horrid beast, but it looked to me expectantly, despite lacking eyes, as if taunting me. I ran to him, and knew what I had to do.”
“Everything’s fuzzy for me, but I remember us both apologizing, me especially.” I say. “Then I remember you asking me to make love to you.”
“And we did, you finally let me in and we became whole.” Eira said with a slight smile.
“Can’t image it being too romantic with that thing hovering over you.” Yukio said.
“That’s the thing though, at some point, perhaps right when I mounted him, I felt it vanish.” Eira held me close again, “We spent all afternoon in that cave.”
“Yeah, now that I remember, and I don’t think I’ve thanked you enough for what you did.” I say.
“I did it for us.” Eira said.
“So…did you…” Eric awkwardly asked.
“What’s wrong Eric? Normally out of all of us you’re the one most open about sex.” Eira teased as everyone laughed at him, “But no, I didn’t get pregnant, I slipped a condom on right before we made love.”
“Really, that thing was kind enough to let you use protection?!” Yukio said which led to even more laughter.
“Well, that’s it. There’s your story.” I say.
“Wow, now that was something.” Eric said as he got up, Yukio following him to the door as they both stumbled.
“Come on Eric, let me help you in the truck.” Michael said as he followed them out.
Mai began to follow, but then turned to us and let down the blankets over her head, exposing her face, “T-that part after the blizzard was just a story right? Y-yeah! Nice try Eira, but you don’t scare me!” Mai suddenly looked down, “But I’ll be sure to talk to Michael tonight.”
Michael quickly stepped back in, “Car’s ready to go Mai.” He suddenly noticed her weary expression, “Come on, don’t tell me you believe that bogey man story, right?”
“Let’s just…talk when we get home.” Mai said before slithering with him to the car.
As we waved them good bye, noticing the storm had subsided, we went back into our home and slept mostly peaceful. When I awoke, noticing Eira was still asleep, I went outside if only to enjoy the nice chill of the morning. I nearly dropped my glass when I saw that, preserved in the snow, was the tracks of Mai’s slithering were there as well as everyone else’s. Yet there were also tracks whose origin I could not place, and they follow Michael’s car down the mountain.
