The ingemstation

Chapter 1: Destination set.

While travelling through a mamono-friendly city seeing all kinds of monster couples wander the street together Florandus Vindivicus came across a noticeboard, inspecting it he saw some sort of poster. In her current state, she's very vulnerable. She won't object to spending a night with him, so feel free to keep the two of them together.

The poster simply stated: "Help requested retrieving an item."
Next to that was a relatively high gold price and the location of a mining town nearby.
He seemed interested at the identity of the item and travelled to the town at once.

Chapter 2: Gearing up.

Strolling into the town the ranger was greeted by a small child carrying a large pickaxe, he bowed down and smiled at her. "Hello there little girl, could you perhaps give me some di.."
He was interrupted immediately. "I am NOT a little girl, I'm an adult dwarf. If you're here for the retrieving job then follow this road and go right at the end, then walk to the big hole in the side of the mountain.

Go and don't come back till you recognize me as a fully grown woman, you inconsiderate human."
The young man looked surprised at least, taking a moment to realize he'd have to watch out with his words from here on out.
He followed the road, seeing many small females of which he could only wonder, how many and who were dwarfs instead of children.
It was bothersome barely being able to see the difference.
Coming to the entrance of the mine he could see a map, hanging on the wall just inside.

A dwarf was counting gemstones laying in a minecart, Looking to the side she saw the man peer into the minecart. "Hey, don't touch those.
It took quite some effort getting those outside.
Are you here for the retrieving job?"
Florandus nodded. "Yeah, wat is it I'm retrieving and where is it?"
He was handed a crudely drawn map of the mines, a White stone encased inside a fancy-looking frame that fitted nice in the palm of his hand and a worn pickaxe.
He looked at the dimly lit mineshaft "You want me to go in there, surely you know that place better than me.."
The dwarf sighed and scuffled around for a second. "Look, I forgot to include some information on the posters hanging around and about.
It's not exactly just retrieving, you see.

Some time ago we broke through a wall that lead into a cave system, after that we noticed more and more of our gear and gemstones vanishing if we didn't bring it outside the mine with us."
The ranger added things up. "So what you're saying is.. you where mining, broke into something's lair and the recourses you mined there got stolen by the thing that lives there."
The dwarf got angry from the accusation. "We did not break into someone's lair, a cave system is not a possession.

And another thing, the recourses we got through hard manual labor are not community treasure just because we got it from someone's cave.
just go in there and get the item we want and eradicate that thief while you're at it."
The ranger backed up quickly. "Okay, okay.. What is it I need to find?"
The small girl searched the pile of parchments on top of a table and pulled out one that depicted the creation process of some sort of compass. "You don't even need to test if it works, just get it and take it back to me.
Oh and if you need light just squeeze that white stone on the metallic frame of the gem-lantern.
If you do a good job, I might even let you keep it."
Florandus put down the pickaxe and squeezed the frame, It shined bright like a torch in his hand without burning his hand off. "In that case I'll be headed in then, I won't need the pickaxe though."

He showed her the icepicks resting in their scabbards. "Also, can I take that design so I can look it up if I forget what it looks like?"
The dwarf rolled up the parchment and stuffed it between the others. "No, for all I know you'll just end up like the others.. The design is needed if in worse case scenario we never get the compass back and have to make a new one, which costs a fortune."
The young man wondered about what she meant with others and made a guess at what he would find inside, with a nod to the dwarf he walked into the mineshaft with the stone and map in either hand.

Chapter 3: Exploring the dark.

Walking through the mineshaft he passed torch after torch, he would make annotations on his map every time he took a turn using a small piece of chalk he had nicked from the table loaded with parchments.
He even drew new sections as he passed through them, stepping over minerails and occasionally passing carts filled with stone.
The ranger found this mine seem very devoid of life, not one dwarf was still picking for rocks and not one tunnel seemed to have been prospected for more recourses which seemed very odd.

After what felt like an hour he went over his map.
The layout had quadrupled in size from the original given to him but all tunnels ended with no result, there was one more tunnel which ended in a cave.
No more minetracks led beyond this point and no torches either, hinting Florandus to use his gem-lantern.
He followed the cave far down, scribbling on the map as he went.
Walking between indents and loose rocks in the floor and feeling water drip down from above him he squeezed through narrow gaps and over cracks.
Going like this for a few minutes he came across a glimmer on the floor, inspecting it closer he realized he was holding a small gem the size of a pebble. putting it in his back he continued, this could become a nice extra reward..

He came across a hole in the ceiling, through it he could see some sort of light.
Florandus extinguished the gem-lantern and grabbed his icepicks, hitting the rock with it he managed to pick a ladder out of the wall as he went up.
Reaching the top he had entered a huge underground opening that could fit a small fort, in the middle of it stood a haphazardly build construction of support beams, minerals, rope and other materials presumably taken from the mineshaft.
Around it laid more rubble, piles and Gems. The ceiling seemed to glow in the same manner the gem-lantern did, only there where over a hundred small enlightening spots imbedded in the stone.
The ranger peered around looking for movement and spotted moving rubble in both the construction and the piles.

He crouched near one and found a broken pickaxe which he threw at the hole he had come in through, the pickaxe bounced on the edge and fell in.
To his surprise the young man saw a stream of strange little girls unbelievably quickly shoot out of the rubble and towards the sound, all hopping right after it.
Florandus took this chance to dash towards the large construction.
a few girls who had come from under the rubble were fighting over a gem that lay near it.
one of them noticed a soundless shadow in the corner of her eye shoot into the large mess.

Chapter 4: Testing out theft.

The ranger slowly crawled through a small tunnel in the building, he came across a few more tunnels, but kept going straight on towards the middle.
Reaching a small opening the size of a living room he found several sleeping girls who looked like mice and several unconscious tied up men among big piles of differently colored gems.
Even here there where several light stones jammed into the walls, providing visibility.

In the middle of the room lay a mice-girl wearing some kind of huge yellow pants filled with holes and holding a big golden compass.
Florandus took a big gem and slowly pushed the compass out of her hand, replacing it with the gem.
with the compass in possession he was about to leave when he looked back at all the gems, he decided to take a few and stuffed the bag on his lower back full.
Behind him sounded bits of rubble falling, turning around he met eyes with a surprised mice-girl that looked him and the bag over.
She was about to say something when the ranger leaped for her, holding her mouth with his hand and pinning her down with his body.
He swiftly pulled her scarf over her mouth and pulled it tighter to stop her from making noise, then he pulled out rope from the wall and bound her hands and feet.
he understood he had taken to long inside and went for a tunnel, pulling the mouse along with him.
She started nibbling at her scarf in an attempt to get it loose Almost outside he saw the mice-girls from earlier running around amongst themselves.

The bound mouse finally bit through her scarf and yelped.
The ranger threw a gem to the opposite side of the exit and started to run towards it drawing his icepicks.
A large portion of the girls scooted over to the gem and started toppling on the gem, the rest took a moment to realize that some guy came running from the construction and started their pursuit.
Florandus jumped down the hole, using his picks to latch on to the other side of the gap to gain a boost from the swinging motion.
He could hear the tripple-trapple of the many feet coming ever closer. The young man sheathed his left pick and slammed the other into the stone ceiling above him, pulling himself up with both hands and hanged from it.
underneath him he could hear the stream pass him by.

Holding on and praying the ceiling would hold he waited for the mice to be far away enough and fiddled with the pick to free it from the rock. Slowly the ranger sneaked after the group of mice-girls for a while untill he felt rails underneath him.
He realized the mice had extinguished every torch in sight and could hear the sound of sniffing.
he had reached an impasse, using the gem-lantern would show his location, walking on meant being smelled and ganged up on and staying here would get him found out when the group would return.

Chapter 5: Dashing to glory.

Behind him he suddenly saw a light shine onto him, the mouse-girl with the yellow pants stood a few meters away from him.
She seemed angry holding the large gem he had used earlier in one hand and a light emitting stone in the other. "Hi there, you have something of mine."
Florandus slowly reached for his bag and pulled out the compass while still holding his pick ready in his right hand. "you want this right? how about I give it to you and I get to leave?"

Behind him the other mice gathered up, out of reach of his weapon. "Good boy, calmly now."
He slowly held the compass towards the mouse-girl who underhandedly threw the gemstone to the side of the compass, the arrow on the compass changed direction towards the gem.
The rangers eyes widened as he saw it happen, then shifted his view back to the girl who was already halfway the original distance.
just as she was about to reach the compass the mice shocked as Florandus closed the distance halting the swing of his pick near her neck. "Actually I changed my mind.. I'll take the compass after all."
He put the compass away and took both her hands in his left palm, still threatening her with the pick in his right. "Com on mousie, lets go for a walk."
He glanced over to the other concerned mice-girls. "And you gals better behave yourself."
Florandus directed the girls hands towards the map, telling her to open it. The other girls followed them, one of which holding the gem to light the way. The mouse rolled it open while trying to ignore the weapon near her throat, at the same time she felt his other hand softly stroking her belly.

After a quick look at the map he had her close it and put it back, but when his hand moved back to hold her hands she pulled it down between her legs. "H-hey, what are you doing?"
The girl pushed his hands through a hole in her pants and under her underwear, she started rubbing her legs together with his hand between them.
The ranger immediately pulled back his hand and the next second the girl had dashed away from him.
Still touching the spot through her pants she smirked at him.
The young man standing in front of the group of girls snagged the light gem and made a run for it.
A second later the whole group ran after him. With a right turn, another right, then a left they ran through the mineshafts.
Florandus took out both picks and started wailing at support beams as he ran, making boulders and stone fall behind him and obstructing his more than thirty predators.

He could already see the end of the tunnel when he felt a pair of arms cling around his body, then another and another.
Pulling off a pair of arms was followed by two more pairs until his run was reduced to fast walking.
Having around about twelve mice dragging behind him he crawled out the exit of the mine and was greeted with a small group of dwarves who had gathered after hearing parts of the mine cave in.

Chapter 6: Reinforcements.

"Hey, get off of him you vermin! The dwarf from earlier yelled at the mice.
The mice gathered in front of Florandus, Who now had multiple mice sitting on his back and limbs pinning him to the ground. "No, he and the stuff he has on him is ours!
Exclaimed the mouse-girl with the yellow pants.
"Get off of me." The ranger called out. One of the mice ignored him by spreading her legs and muffling him with her special place, her face seemed to turn happier by the second feeling his hot breath hitting her.

The dwarfs seemed mesmerized by the spectacle apart from their leader who's cheeks turned red. "Shameless rats.. release him or face our weapons."
They charged at the mice which in turn mobbed the dwarfs, when half the mice on Florandus back stood up and joined the fight the ranger threw the rest off of him and searched the parchment table taking the blueprint of the compass during the confusion of the battle.

After throwing another around for half an hour the mice retreated back into the mines.
Checking everybody over the dwarf leader heavily breathing came up to the young man with a pleased expression. "So.. them following you all the way out here means you got it?"
The ranger dusted himself off from the struggle and got out the compass.
Seeing the compass the dwarves cheered.
Handing it over to the dwarf she motioned him to come closer.
Doing so resulted in her giving him a kiss on the cheek. "You have no idea how much you have helped us by retrieving this.
Don't worry about that vermin, we'll get them out sooner or later."
Another dwarf came up to them handing him a sack of gold. "You've earned this."
The ranger thanked them and took his leave.

Chapter 7: A little on the side.

With the blueprint, a bag full of gems, the gem-lantern and the gold in his possession he left the gem-mine to probably never return again.
Far behind him a yellow pants disappeared behind a rock..
