Day 12: Write a story with a fish-type monster

Woah, Oh!

Fishing on a Prayer

A young couple find a quiet corner of the beach, sheltered by enormous boulders and far away enough from the main strip most frequented by tourists. “Babe, what if somebody sees us?” The lamia asks her husband.

“Maybe I want for us to be seen. Just so I can let everyone know how utterly in love we are!” She blushes deeply and coils around his body, laying down on a portion of smooth rock. She reaches for his mouth, their lips joining as her long tongue sneaks into his mouth to toy with his own, eliciting a delicious moan of pleasure from him. As they begin to get serious, her eye catches some movement. She tries to watch it, but loses sight when her husband begins moving. When they finish the first round, she manages to catch a glimpse of a woman in the water, just  a bit further from land, her head just above the water. She tries to hide when the lamia spots her.

“Hey! Who are you and what do you think you’re doing watching us?” She rears up, standing at full height on her tail and pulling her husband close to her chest to cover herself and prevent him from spotting the intruder.

“Who’s there?

“There’s this woman watching us from the water! You there! I know you’re hiding!” The woman surfaces closer.
“Didn’t mean to disturb you. I just wanted to-to, uh…”

“Why don’t you get lost! If you want to experience the pleasure of being a monster, why don’t you find your own husband! Ugh, we’re leaving. We can finish this at home!” She released him so they could dress, and they both walked off, the lamia shooting another dirty look at her. Emilia, the Merrow, sighed.

“Maybe I shouldn’t have watched a couple with a lamia. But uuurrgghh I just wanted to-”

---

Emilia watches a couple, this time with a Dark Elf. swims carefully to the edge of the water, so she can keep herself below the surface. She watched the elf sit down, beckoning her husband to take her. But as Emilia watched him thrust into his wife, the elf suddenly locked eyes with her and gave a sly smile. Catching her husband moments before release, she stood up.

“Now wait just a minute, my pet. Seems we have a visitor”.

“What are you talking about?” He asked, a little peeved that she had stopped. She pointed at Emilia.

“He-hello! There’s no need to concern yourselves with me. I’ll just be…”

“Oh my! Darling, shall we give the girl a show?”

“Well, I don’t know”. He said sheepishly, unsure if he wanted for anyone else to bear witness to their sessions. The elf whispered in his ear. “Well, I guess it could be ok”. The elf grinned, and waved to Emilia.

“Well my dear? Are you ready to see how we do things?” Emilia nodded excitedly. The dark elf then proceeded to put on the most extreme performance that Emilia had ever watched in all her years of peeking on monster-human couples. She gasped, clutched her chest, turned as red as the cap on her head, and after the elf invited her for a little “audience participation”, she flopped on the ground, dazed and delirious with pleasure. She managed to pull herself together, leaning on a rock as the couple dressed.

“That was the best. Some things I’ve never even thought of. I have to give you something as thanks. She produced a small vial from somewhere. “This is a vial of my blood. If your husband drinks it, it will extend his lifespan”. The couple took it, thanking her, and Emilia lay on the rocks, waiting until she was able to think clearly, and swam away.

---

Emilia had been following a large fishing vessel for several days now, in the hopes that one of the sailors would be of interest to her. As the night fell, she climbed over the side of the boat, floating above the ship deck. She pulled open a door, hoping it would lead to where the crew was sleeping. She floated down some steps, and there they were, all slumbering in close quarters bunks. She slowly made her way around the bunks, trying to catch a look at them all but must have picked the wrong one, as he woke up, stared at her for a moment, before shouting in surprise. Emilia yelped, and suddenly the sleeping quarters were alive with grumbles and shouts and confusion. The sailors took one look at Emilia and began arguing.

“A monster?”

“She’s going to take the whole crew!”

“Get the captain!” One of the older men spoke up.

“Listen you youngins! Everyone quiet now. You!”, he said pointing to Emilia. “Sit down and stay there! One of you lads get the Captain. And I see you dogs sneaking a peak at her. Hands off or we’ll throw you overboard with her!” Emilia sat on the floor, trying not to look at any of the men and regretting ever climbing on board. One of the crew returned with the Captain, a suitably dressed, imposing man, with an air of irritation about him.

“What in blazes have you buffoons woken me up for?” His eyes turned to Emilia. “What the hell is a monster doing here? Throw her over the side. Might bring more with her”.

“Captain!” The old sailor spoke up. “This here’s a mermaid. I’ve heard her blood can extend one’s lifespan!”

“Well, I’m a merrow and my blood actually-” Emilia tried to interject.

“What?” The Captain shouted. “Well miss, is that true?”

“U-um, no sir. It’s really just a superstition. I didn’t mean to disturb you and if you let me go I promise I’ll be on my way”.

“Lies! She probably meant to drag one of the crew down into the sea with her. And I know my stories, Captain. There are people who’d pay good money for her blood”.

“Well then. Back to sleep, all of you. I’ll be taking the monster to my cabin. We’ll be making a stop at the next port. With any luck, we’ll make a pretty penny”. He leaned over and hoisted Emilia up so she was hanging over his back, and walked out of the quarters. When he got to his cabin, he set her on the bed. “Now then. If you give me some of your blood, I’ll make your stay here as comfortable as possible. Make sure no one else gets their hands on you. He had lost just a bit of the edge on his voice.

“Sir, it’s true that my blood will extend someone’s life. But there’s another effect you might want to know about.”

“And what’s that?”

“It makes a person more lustful”.

“Hmm. I see. Can’t have that. Then I’ll leave you be. The bed is yours”. So saying, the Captain stepped over and took the chair by his desk, slumping over and falling asleep. Emilia cautiously lay down in the bed, catching a whiff of his scent but wishing she hadn’t.

Two. Weeks. of sitting in the cabin, Eating what little she was given, and plenty of time to wish she was swimming in the water. The Captain was true to his word, having no interactions but to give her some food. Emilia held her complaints, knowing that she just had to wait for the right moment to escape, and silently prayed to Poseidon for help. When the ship sailed into port, the Captain left her in the cabin, locking the door. Emilia stared out the small window. It seemed she was all alone, the rest of the crew going up on land. She looked longingly, when something appeared on the deck. Another monster? It was a small Siren, looking around as if to see if anyone was left. Emilia took the opportunity and let out the loudest and longest scream she could muster. The Siren jumped, turning to the source and fluttering over to the door where she thought she heard the sound. Her eyes widened in shock as she saw Emilia.

“Please help!” Emilia called. The Siren looked flustered, then after thinking, smiled. She put up both wings, making a determined expression. Then looked up, trying to gesture to the sky. She flapped her wings and rose out of sight, but after a few seconds, returned, and nodded to Emilia. Then she flew out of sight. Emilia hoped this was a sign. The crew returned hours later, and set sail again.

If anyone had thought to watch the big ship sailing out of the port, they might have had a mighty scare. It had barely made it a few miles out to sea, when it sank beneath the water, without any sign of attack. The miracles of the sea, with Poseidon’s assistance, had sent the Siren out over the water, where she located more monsters. A Sea Bishop, a few scyllas, Mersharks, a Flow Kelp, and even a Charybis, who was attached to the hull. They carved out a hole, and the ship sank before anyone even noticed. As the ship was beset by more monsters, Emilia found the Cabin underwater. There was a crash, and the cabin was torn open. Emilia swam out into the open water, grateful to be free.

“Are you alright sweetie?” One of the scyllas asked, a man in her grip.

“We heard you were trapped on the ship, How terrible.”

“Hey, were there any of these men you had your eye on?”

“Thank you for the help, everyone. But I don’t want anything to do with these men. I just want to find my way home”. She swam off, leaving the monsters to their hunt.

Emilia had been swimming and resting for days now, and stopped near a port on the way back to her home. Thinking to rest, she lurked by the docks, watching the men step off the boats to go on land. When one man caught her eye. He seemed well-built, black hair growing long and tangled. And somehow, she sensed an air of kindness about him. Emilia felt her heart beat faster. “There’s no way...I should be more careful”, she said to herself.

“Isaac! Hurry up already!” someone called. Isaac, she thought. Is there someone already in his life?” In spite of herself, she waited there, through the day and into the next, wondering if he would appear again. Sure enough, there he was the next morning, a few men joining him as they climbed aboard their vessel. Emilia knew better than to try and follow, but she did wait to see if they would return. And they did. She watched them return to the dock, bringing their catch with them. Desperate to know more, she floated onto land. Emilia managed to learn a great deal about Isaac. He was single, and looking to leave the town soon in search of more work. Emilia lay by the beach, puzzling how to approach him, or whether she should even try. “Is he the one?” She asked herself. “I could...give him my hat. But then I wouldn’t be able to go home. But what is home? A place to watch more couples? What if this is my chance?” Finally, Emilia decided to take a chance.

The next evening, after watching the fishermen return from work, she followed them off the dock, and after watching them enter the bar, she followed them inside. The patrons went silent when she entered, and she approached Isaac at the table. “Would you mind sharing this table with me?” Isaac looked a little confused.

“I don’t see why not. Plenty of room”. And went back to his meal. There were hushed whispers, and Emilia tried to engage him again.

“My name is Emilia. And who might you be?”

“I’m Isaac. I’m here working as a fisherman for the rest of the week, but I’m planning to leave for the next village soon. Need something more than just fishing. And what about you?”

“Oh, I’ve been traveling. I was...hoping I might find a companion to travel with”.

“Ah, well I hope you find one who suits you”. Someone snickered. Emilia glared a little, then tried again.

“Say I was wondering if you liked hats?”

“Hats? Well, I guess they’re fine. Cover your head and all”.

“Well then how would you like to have mine!” She said hurriedly, removing her cap off and presenting it to Isaac”.

“Oh, well, I couldn’t just take yours. It looks so nice.” The bar exploded in laughter.

“Isaac, you dunce! She’s proposing to you!” Isaac looked confused, then surprised.

“Uh, what? She is?” He turned to Emilia, who nodded. “Well, I, er. I guess I couldn’t say no”.

After a round of congratulations, Isaac left the bar with Emilia, and led her to the small house he’d been living in. “Here it is. It’s not much, but I think it’ll be enough for both of us before we leave”.

“Oh, I think any place at all would suit me. I just want to get to the important part of marriage”. She whispered to Isaac, who went red.

“Emilia, I don’t really know how to” He trailed off.

“Don’t worry darling! I’ve picked up plenty of tips from other couples”. She sat on the bed, beckoning him. Isaac hesitantly approached, and she pulled him in for a kiss, not her first, but the first kiss with her husband. She moaned at how much better it felt, leaning on her back and preparing to take him into another realm.

Emilia lay on the bed, Isaac sound asleep in her arms. The aftermath of their time together fresh in her mind, she was glowing with happiness. She wondered where they would go, or if she might even have a chance to show him the place where she had grown up.

“Sweetheart”, she said softly. “I can see a lot of beautiful things in our future. Maybe even a little one of our own”.
