2. Write a story with a Fairy-type monster---I was thinking of scrapping this category to double dip on another monster type. Lolis are my least favorite type of monster girls. But I got an idea, which grew far bigger than I expected to, and I'm pretty pleased with the result. Mostly revolving around the Titania, the silver lining beinf that she's jaw droppingly gorgeous and has a few characteristics from her bio that got my gears turning. There's a bit of allusion to the lewd nature of monster girls, like I do in most of my stories, but I think it's relatively tame, and I hope some will enjoy this one even if they're not into these types of monsters.
Hunter stalked through the bushes on his way to carry out a simple yet brutal mission. Contracted by an Order outpost, he was here to check on the rumors of monsterized Fairies in the nearby woods, and if he was to find them, he would exterminate them. He moved carefully, carrying an iron knife, much more fitting to fight such small creatures. But he also carried a larger sword on his back, in case of human or other monster attackers. The air had felt different since he stepped into the trees. “Sir, please. Leave our kingdom alone. We won’t hurt anyone”. A tiny girl’s voice spoke in his ear and he turned his head to try to see where the voice had come from. A tiny glimmer of light?
“I’m sorry little one. But that is not for you to decide”, he replied in a deep gruff voice. I am here to do a job, and my employers are the ones to decide what is a danger to themselves”.
“So you don’t have any reason to fight us other than being commanded to?”
“It’s true. I need to eat and find a place to stay for the night”.
“So, if you had all those things, you wouldn’t need to bother our kingdom?” Another voice echoed in his ear, and this time Hunter reached for his knife, making a quick swing, but it hit air. The tiny lights were gone.
“Perhaps not”. He said to himself. As Hunter continued forward, he felt a heavier presence in the air. He stepped into a clearing of trees, and there was a ring of mushrooms. He stared at them, keeping a few paces distance. “Is that their grand plan?” He scoffed. But he started to feel strange. As if his bloodthirsty intent was drying up, replaced with tranquility. He looked around, wondering why he was there. But Hunter had plenty of experience with monsters’ mind altering charms, and he knew how to carry out a job even when he’d lost his nerve. But one of the lights appeared in front of him, he tried to swing at it but more of them darted around his head. There was a flash of light, and his vision went white. “What’s going on?” He shouted, trying to regain his sight.
“PUSH!” A chorus of tiny voices shouted out, and he felt a force on his right side.
“CENTER!” He shouted, as if he was arguing, attempting to ground himself. “Hey what are you doing in my PANTS? Get out of-”
“PUUUUUUUSH” The chorus came again, and knocked Hunter square in the chest. He coughed, shocked at the force. And then, despite a heavily muscled frame from years of training, traveling and fighting, Hunter toppled over. He hit the ground hard, and as his vision came back to him, he spotted the mushrooms…
“NO!” Hunter’s vision spun, and the scenery changed. He stood up, loing around. There were enormous green trees towering above him, he stood on a small patch of dirt “GRASS?” Hunter exclaimed to himself. “Those are blades of grass! I’VE SHRUNK?”
“There he is!” Hunter turned to the sound of a girl’s voice, except this time there were 3 girls with brightly colored hair, wings, and loose fitting dresses. “Mister come play with us!”
“If you think I’m going to give up on my mission just because you’ve brought me down to your level-”
“Ooh, sis is going to play with us too!” Hunter turned to see another girl coming up from behind him. She was closer to his size, blue hair and a strange blue suit that still failed to cover much of her body.
“I have a fun game we could all play.” She locked her arms around his neck. Hunter struggled but couldn’t move. How was she so strong? “Now first you have to pull down his pants-” Hunter closed his eyes. Resigned to what was about to happen.
“What’s that?”
---
Hunter woke up. After a number of fairies had come to play games with him, he had fallen fast asleep. He stood up, trying not to feel happy about what had just happened.
“They’re basically like little kids” he muttered to himself. But now he saw that he had returned to full size. He was even fully clothed. His supplies and weapons had all been taken. He looked around, able to get a better look at where he was. He was standing in a vast green field of short grass, flowers dotting the landscape and a huge lake not far away. It was night, but the moon shone down in the sky, aided by millions of stars twinkling in the distance. Hunter had to appreciate the beauty of the place. He looked around to see if there were any other landmarks, And there, on a gently sloping hill stood a single tree. Was someone else there? He rushed to the tree, and as he got closer he saw a woman, laying down at the base. She was human sized, long blonde hair with some pointy ears sticking out. She wore sheer, light purple garments, no shoes, nothing that could quite contain her massive chest, and a pair of butterfly wings seemed stuck to her back.
“Leave our Queen alone!” Hunter looked to see a handful of fairies, now small enough to fit in his hand but still in full form rather than the tiny lights he’d first seen them as. “That’s Queen Belinda. She’s used so much of her power to close the entrance of our kingdom and make sure no one could get in, she’s fallen asleep.” The fairies tried to form a barrier between the queen and Hunter.
“I won’t hurt her. If the entrance to the kingdom is closed, that means there’s no way for me to escape, right?” The fairies seemed to be in agreement. “Then there’s no reason to carry out my mission”. Saying so, he lay down on the ground on the opposite side of the tree, and tried to fall asleep.
---
“Are they trying to starve me?” Hunter had been living in the kingdom for 3 moons now. He had found it unhelpful to count days, couldn’t even recall what day it was supposed to be. Time flowed slowly and lazily as he tried to avoid losing his mind. The fairies posed an opportunity to pass the time, with requests to play, but after the first incident, Hunter had no desire to try again. After 2 days, he had taken a risk in drinking from the lake, and found the water clean and refreshing. But there was no sign of other living beings besides the fairies, and the queen who still lay asleep beneath the tree. Hunter felt himself slipping out of consciousness.
“Good morning sleepyhead.” Hunter looked up to see a face smiling down at him. He sat up to see his head was resting in the lap of Belinda, who was kneeling on the ground and looking at him. She smiled serenely, and he felt a sense of calm looking at her.
“BRrrrrrrrr” his stomach rumbled.
“Oh, it seems like someone’s hungry, too. Children, didn’t you tell our guest how to find food?”
“Oh no! We forgot”.
“We were too busy playing.
“Well, no wonder he’s so grumpy. Maybe something to fill you up will make you feel better?” Belinda handed him a small handful of berries.”
“I think I’ll need more than berries to satisfy myself”.
“Why don’t you try one?” Hunter popped a berry in his mouth. It was sweet and juicy. He swallowed and found that his hunger was fading away.
“What kind of berries are these?”
“Magic of course. Chock full of nutrients and fairy magic, you shouldn’t need anything else to sustain yourself. I hope you’ll enjoy your time as a guest in my kingdom.” Hunter kept the retort to himself.
“Thanks”.
“Oh, but those berries did take a lot out of me to make. I could use some help with replenishing my energy”.
“Your energy? Does it have anything to do with-” Hunter trailed off. Belinda put her hand over her mouth to hide a little giggle.
“There’s no need to be embarrassed. I hear you already became familiar with some of my friends.” Belinda nestled herself in Hunter’s lap, catching his chin with a finger. She tilted it up so he was facing her and gave him a soft kiss. Hunter accepted it, much more glad to be doing it with someone more mature. He groped her boob and she moaned. Belinda started to fiddle with his pants.
---
Hunter lay on the ground, Belinda on top of him, after their session. It was so much nicer than being jumped on by a bunch of fairies. He heard Belinda
“How tall are you Hunter?”
“6 feet”.
“What’s a feet? Like the ones you stand on?”
“It’s a unit of measurement that some humans use”. The pixie answered.
“Then is Big Sister taller than 6 feet?” Hunter opened his eyes. That couldn’t be right. “We’ve been measuring them both. Hunter is 11 fairy lengths, and Belinda is 13.” Now Hunter was cross. He shook Belinda awake.
“Belinda, I need to test something.”
“Oh? Didn’t we try enough things already?”
“No, I mean-Stand up straight with your back against mine”. She did, wondering if this was a game he wanted to try. The fairies checked the two.
“Belinda’s taller! Her head is just a little above Hunter’s!” Hunter tried to pretend like he didn’t care. But the pixie’s voice ruined his chance.
‘You know, I hear some men like to say they’re taller than they actually are. I think maybe...Hunter is 5 feet, 11 inches.”
“What’s the difference?”
“A foot is equal to 12 inches. So it looks like Belinda is about 2 inches taller than Hunter.” The silence was palpable. But it was punctured by Belinda herself.
“Two inches!” The other fairies joined in.
“Two inches taller!” They burst into a fit of giggles, Belinda shedding the calm nature she’d previously demonstrated, now just as childish as the other fairies.
“It’s not that much of a difference,” Hunter tried to protest
“Some would say that two inches makes quite the difference.” The pixe remarked, smirking at Hunter. Belinda was now frollicking with the rest of the fairies, cheering as loudly as they could manage. Finally, they returned to Hunter’s side.
“I love our little guest”. Belinda said, sitting down and taking Hunter’s hand.
---
Hunter watched Belinda eating with the other fairies. She was snacking on a small cake, which she had managed to make after some testing. They were feasting on the delicious cake, but Hunter had decided to pass. It was a bit sweeter than he wanted. But a devious thought snuck into his head. He crept up behind Belinda and covered her eyes.
“Guess who?”
“Oh! A game? Is it Lilly?”
“Incorrect.”
“Petunia?”
“Try again”.
“Crystal?”
“That’s your third wrong guess. I’ll tell you who it is”. He was whispering in her ear. “I’m the cake thief”. Belinda’s ears drooped.
“Mr. Cake thief please don’t take my cake.”
“I come for all fairies who’ve had too much cake, and I” he took the piece out of her hand and gobbled it down”. Belinda turned, pulling his hands away,”
“Hunter you meanie-head! You took my cake! I was going to share that with everyone and now-” Her eyes began to well up with tears. “And then you ate it!” She started to cry. Hunter patted her head.
“Now my dear, you’ll be able to eat cake again. Besides,I don’t just take your cake. I leave something in return.”
“Huh?” Belinda sniffled. And Hunter kissed her on the lips.
“Ohhhhh, mmm”...Belinda sighed. “Could I have another?”
---
Hunter stared at Belinda as she stood against the tree, greeting the fairies as they cheered for her awakening.
“Belinda, there’s something I have to tell you about”. She turned her attention to him.
“And what is that, sweetheart?”
“Please, don’t be alarmed when I show you,” Hunter slowly pulled an iron knife from his boot. Belinda recoiled, and the fairies flitted closer to her. “When the fairies took my equipment, they found everything but this. But I swear to you, I have no intention of using it. There’s no reason for me to harm any of you. I want you to know I had this tool, and now I’d like to find a place to put it, so all of you know I won’t try to use it.” Belinda nodded, and approached Hunter. She took the handle from him, embracing him in the process.
“You’ve done the right thing. We’ll find somewhere to put it”.
---
“There’s no need to fear Hunter. He’s told us he just wants to live here in peace, right?” Hunter looked to see Belinda consoling a single fairy sitting on her shoulder.
“Big sis, he’s scary. I don’t want to go near him”.
“Hunter, maybe talking to you would help? Violet here still refuses to come near you. I’ve tried to tell her you meant no harm, but she’s still scared”. Violet disappeared behind Belinda’s wings.
“Violet? May I tell you something?” Belinda nodded, after hearing Violet’s answer. “It sounds like you may have first met me outside the kingdom, when I had every intent to harm your friends.” He saw Belinda nod, looking surprised. “Like you may have been told, I no longer bear any ill will to you and your friends. But that doesn’t mean you have to forget what I may have done to you. I threatened you, and you are allowed to remain wary, even if I’ve changed. I will spend more time with you if you want, but I won’t be angry if you don’t want to be near me.
---
Hunter looked up at Belinda as she stared down at him from the top of the tree.
“And what have you been doing today?” She called.
“Recollecting. All the memories I’ve had since coming here. And what about you? All the way up in that tree?”
“I saw something over there, past the lake!”
“Well should we go see?” Belinda descended from the tree, her wings fluttering. Hunter took her small hand in his great, worn hand, and they walked, the fairies flitting around them, to see what had appeared by the lake. They all stared in shock, arriving at the spot that Belinda had pointed to, at the sight of a young woman. She had armor covering her entire body, armored gloves and boots, finely crafted. But the helmet was gone, and they could see her long, tangled black hair spilling out. She was passed out, Hunter carefully picked her up, carrying her back to the tree. They laid her down and waited for her to wake up.
---
“Who are you!” The woman was up now, staring frantically at Hunter and Belinda.
“There;s nothing to fear, dear. This is my kingdom. Hunter is my husband and these are my friends”. Belinda spoke softly to her.
“Monsterst!” She tried to get away, reaching for weapons that weren’t there. :What did you do with my weapons! Do you mean to deceive me before you devour me?”
“Ma’am, we didn’t find any weapons with you. I can assure you, no one wants to hurt you here. You appeared earlier today, right over there past that lake. All we did was move you.
“And who are you?”
“I’m Hunter. I went on a job to...deal with the fairy kingdom. But I was transported here, and I’ve lived here ever since. It was supposed to be sealed so that no one could get in or out. So would you care to explain who you are, and how you got here?”
“I’m Marie. Wait a minute. A man going out to get rid of a fairy kingdom for the Order? That can’t be right. I heard that story when I was a child. It happened over a hundred years ago. But it wasn’t supposed to have happened because it was just a story they told kids to warn them away from the forest.” Hunter felt worried.
“A hundred years ago? It couldn’t have possibly been that long. I’ve only been here…” He couldn’t remember how long it had been since he’d come to the kingdom.
“Time moves differently here in the kingdom”. Belinda said.
“It is a nice place. Living here every day? Not a care in the world? Marie said, half to herself. “But I have to get out of here. The monster mana will change me. But what good is it being a human in the Order when all I’ve done-” Marie slumped onto the ground. “I’m tired. I tried my best to move up in the ranks. Make my family proud. But how proud can I be after executing a little girl’s parents in front of her? For what? Being a monster? I tried to tell them the village wasn’t bothering anybody, but they said that the village’s influence would spread, and they would have to be taken care of.” She started to sob. Hunter attempted to say something, but couldn’t think of anything that didn’t sound a little cruel. Belinda sat down next to Marie, and rubbed her back, murmuring to her until Marie’s crying slowed.
“My dear, Hunter came from the same background. He told us that he wanted to live in peace now. Maybe this is your chance to do the same.” Hunter finally found the words.
“You can’t undo what’s been done. But you can make an effort to improve the lives of others around you”.
“But Marie, dear, I think we need to talk about how you got into the kingdom? Could you just tell us that?”
“I was tired, desperate to go anywhere but where I was stationed. But I couldn’t get far without being spotted by patrols. That’s when I remembered the story of the forest. I knew no one would follow me. I ran as far as I could, then I found a circle of mushrooms. I jumped into it, and ended up here.
---
“What? Stay here? But what would I do if you left?”
“Dear, my magic must be weakening. This means Hunter might have a chance to leave. You could stay here, with the rest of the fairies”.
“And would I...turn into a fairy?”
“Some sort of transformation. Maybe a queen like Belinda”. Hunter remarked.
“I don’t know...would it really be that easy?” The pixie sat on her shoulder.
“I think it would be quite simple. We could all get together to show you how it’s done”. Marie assented, and the fairies led her away, flitting about.
“Hunter, I said that you might be able to leave. But I couldn’t bear to part. Wherever you’re going, I’ll come with you”.
“And leave all your little friends behind?”
“I’ll cherish them as long as I live. But they’ll all have a new big sister, if things go right”.
“Setting aside how I might be affected when I get back to the human world, you know how much more dangerous it is than here? The Order is one thing, with their crusade against monster kind, But there’s plenty of other humans to watch out for. Other monsters who might try to take a man if they thought they could get away with it. And of course, I may need to eat other things than your berries. What would you say if I caught a rabbit and killed it so I could eat?” Belinda balked.
“I’ll put up with whatever I have to. I’ll do everything in my power to protect you if it means staying with you”.
“Then that makes two of us”.
---
Marie flapped her new wings, spinning around under the warm sun, laughing with joy at her new body. Green garments, and soft purple wings that turned to indigo near the second pair. She had learned a lot from her time with all the fairies, and now could hardly wait to learn even more. But parts of her memory remained from being a human. She wasn’t completely able to forget where she’d come from.
“Belinda? Hunter? Are you going so soon?” Belinda pulled her into a tight hug.
“Marie you look splendid. We have to leave, or I’m afraid we might not have another chance. And…I’m not sure this kingdom is big enough for 2 queens”. She winked. Hunter extended his hand for a shake. Marie took it, and he tried to impart his best wishes to her.
“I think you’ll be great for this kingdom”. The fairies crowded around Belinda, sobbing as she prepared to depart.
“Now now, my children. I love you all, and I’ll always be thinking of you. Do you think you can give me one more smile?” The fairies tried.
“We’re going to miss you big sister.”
“And Hunter too.”
“Take care of her”.
“We’ll have a lot of fun with big sister Marie”. Belinda and Hunter waved their last goodbye. Then, Belinda summoned as much magic as she could muster.
“Yes, there’s still a way out. Marie, remember what I taught you. Use the spell with the rest of your friends to close the door when we leave.” She hugged Hunter tightly, both of them standing in a glowing circle, and they blinked out of sight. Marie stared at the space where they had been, almost wishing she could bring them back.
Hunter looked around. Seemed like the same forest he had first entered. Belinda was sitting on the ground, looking at an otherwise empty patch of grass.
“They did it. It’s sealed”. She shed a tear, Hunter picked her up and gave her a hug.
“We’ll miss them all. But they’ll live happily, just like we did. For now, we need to get out of here”. Belinda nodded, taking one last look at the clearing as they walked through the trees. Near the edge of the forest, Hunter peered out and saw the same types of buildings he had seen in the Order compound when he first arrived. But there were more. And there seemed to be soldiers patrolling the grounds. It started to rain. “Time to go. Rain will muffle our footsteps and make it harder to see”. He picked up Belinda, who yelped in surprise, and ran. It all began to come back to him, the exertion, the rhythm, it wouldn’t last long, not with a bit of hunger gnawing at his stomach, but it would be enough to get them away. Out of the compound, away from the sights of the soldiers, and off into the wild unknown, with Belinda at his side. Belinda squirmed a bit in his grip, and now she was staring behind Hunter, as the Order buildings grew smaller.
“Best of luck to you, Marie, and all my friends”.
