Lost Sister

A crossover with the Anime Dog Days. The event is the one from about 13-14 years in the past where Aro and his Inari sister met a certain Fox Girl and the people of Flonyard. Finding the little girl all alone in the middle of nowhere, Yukki protected the fellow Fox Person kid from a Demon attack. However, the Demon merged with a hitchhiker from the interdimensional portal little Kanami went trough and with their combined power they started to wreck havoc trough the continent of Flonyard, determined to bring the land and its people to their doom...

It was a beautiful yet lazy morning in Zipangu. The white clouds above the Kimura temple were slowly drifting northbound as the sun rose above the woods on the east side of the temple. The chriping of the birds carried by the light morning breeze was the only sound beside the one of gentle waves tirelessly hitting the beach down the cliff on the temples west side. A beautiful and peaceful morning  awoke the youngest two of the four Kimura siblings, the 17 years old Aro and his 4 year old Inari sister Kanami. The sun rays were telling them it was time for them to wake up and enjoy their late spring day to the fullest.

Today was Aro's day as temple's master, seeing both his parents and older sisters were away which left him alone with his younger sister, the youngest member of the Kimura family.

His sister, being the overly cheerful little girl burst trough the door of his room and jumped on his bed and kept jumping up and down on it while shouting,

"Aniiikiii!"

There was no response from her big brother, so the platinum blonde girl cupped her small hands around her mouth and yelled even louder in his direction,

"Aaaniiikiiiiiii!!!"

"Wake up you sleepy head! The day is passing you by." The hyperactive Fox Girl yelled excited as she kept bouncing on his bed, mimicking their mother Nozomi the temple priestess with her speech.

Unluckily for the young man none of his three wives were present thus no one who could placate his little sisters antics were there at the moment.

"Ugghhh... Kanami-chan...  What do you want? It's still too early to get up... Go away." he groggily answered and turned to the other side of the bed covering his head with his blanket. Her white tipped ears drooped for a split second before she went on the offensive yet again.

"None of that, Mr." she said sternly waving her little finger in front of his face as she pulled the blanket off his head.

"F-fine... I'm up, I'm up..." He stated in defeat rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"Yaaay!" She pumped her tiny fists in a victorious display before jumping down from the bed. She wagged her well groomed tail happily in a rather adorable way as she called him,

"Come on Aniki, the breakfast is ready in the garden." She smiled sweetly to her brother still half-asleep.

"Wait. Did you make breakfast?" Aro asked doumfounded.

"Mhm." she nodded rather proud of herself, "I learned From Kaa-chan and Miyuki-Neechan." She said beaming at her success at both making breakfast and waking her big brother up, which was a difficult task even for thheir mother at times.

With the little Inari rushing out in the garden he was left alone in his room. He sat on his bed, pushing the last remnants of sleepiness out of his system before he finally got up properly. With a quick glance at the clock he realized how early it actually was. His sister made him wake up at 7:30 in the morning, on a day off for crying out loud.

'Since I'm up already might as well have some breakfast. I'm quite famished.' He thought rubbing his belly that chose that exact time to rumble in protest from its lack of food.

'Should have eaten more for dinner last night. Oh well, there's always time to supplement that today.' He chuckled recalling a somewhat 'humble' meal, at least for his standards.

And since it was his four year old Imouto who made it, he would not let her down by not attending. She saw him as her very own hero, the strong and brave Aniki that chased the bad things away, the one who gave her the light gem that eased her nights wile holding the evil things away from her bed letting her sleep without fear. In her eyes, her Aniki was the greatest and no one would be able to convince her otherwise.

With a smile brought by the thoughts of his little sister, he opened the drawer and pulled out his usual clothes he liked to wear the most. A sky blue GI held closed by a white cloth ribbon belt tied on the waist. The Kimura kanji printed in a white circle on his back and.

With his garments in hand he glanced around his mostly spartan room, untill his gaze rested on the two enchanted swords neatly placed on display on a refined stand of rosewood. The Good and Evil sword. Both blades in possessio of his family from generations, both swords recognized Him as their User and Master. They were Masamune and Murasama, named after the master craftsmen who made them and offered as gifts to the Kimura Family sometime in the past.

On the wall behind the sword display was hanging a beautiful rice paper inkwash scroll depicting two Samurai warriors doing battle. Just right from the swords a small shrine with a small incense stick holder.

Saying a quick, quiet prayer that was mostly a 'thank you' to the precious things in life, such as a loving family, a home and sense of belonging he left the room towards the bathroom with a small appreciating smile.

He didn't have the time to close the door to his room as he was quickly approached by a black cat that didn't waste any time to rub herself on his legs purring contently. He saved the poor thing about an year ago from an out of control carriage in a nearby village in a downpoor of epic proportions.

He smiled at his feline friend, "What's up girl? Missed me that much?" he asked the cat who seemed to undertand him as her amber eyes met his blue ones. The cat even gave a soft 'Meow' as if answering his questions.

'Quite the smart fellow, aren't you.' he thought to himself about the peculiar feline as he picked it up from the ground with his free hand. The small animal rubbed her head onto his chin as walked trough the rice paper corridor towards the bathroom. Once there he let the cat on the ground and for a split second the black feline shot him a disappointed  glance, which he quickly dismissed as being still half dazed from just waking up.

"This is where we part ways koneko. Seeing how much you like water I don't think you'd like it in there." he joked as the cat responded with another 'meow'. This time however it sounded almost sad, deprived of the cat's usual demeanor.

Not thinking too much of it he entered the bathroom and started his morning routine unaware the cat was now perched on the high window at the side of the building, her eyes glued to him. It's not that he extended his senses on a cat deeming it not a threat, and being in the place he could call home, he wasn't exactly scanning the area for troubles, especially 'those' kind of troubles.

The young cat watched with devilish curiosity at the now bare skinned young man. Her eyes, as if burning with desire were glued to his every move as he slowly stepped beneath the gentle flow of the warm water from the temples onsen. The scene made her lick her lips in a catlike maner as the object of her infatuation enjoyed his shower in blissfull ignorance.

As her brother was immersed in his morning rituals, racing trough the temple inner gardens, Kanami was adding the finishing touches at the table that was filled with a sizable amount of food all neatly placed on the various plates. It looked more like a banquet than a simple breakfast but knowing her Aniki's appetite she did not expect many leftovers. She giggled at the thought while she finished setting the table.

"Haha, silly Aniki stuffing his face like usual." she thought aloud as a mental image or two crossed her mind.

Finally calming her giggling fit she tidied up the last details just as she spotted her still sluggish brother approaching the table near the koi pond.Doing his quick series of stretches before breakfast the young man was finally starting to feel his appetite growing, his stomach letting a modest growl, at least compared with the usual thundering, as if letting him know it's time to have a snack or two before continuing with a more serious training routine.

Spotting  the now quite impatiently fidgeting young foxgirl he smiled as he stopped by the small water fountain on the way to wash his hands and face before finally joining her at the table, much to her delight.

He had to admit his youngest sibling, despite her very young age she managed to make quite the banquet, fitting more he table of the Zipanguese royal family, than a freespirited young man living in his family's temple.

A/N This prologue/first chapter actually does not have much more than a couple scenes left, but they are somewhat important to the characters bond. It's meant to show the connection and interactions between them in few simple scenes, so I want to do them right. Once that's done, it will be much smoother sailing onwards.

Dedicated to my RL big sis who was released from the hospital with bad news. Especially the later chapters, that will be kind of simbolic in a way...
