You’ve lived in a rather isolated village for a good number of years. The villagers have since viewed you as an outsider, and treat you like a pariah. Hell, the closest thing you have to a friend is the local Medusa, but she’s rather callous towards you and her snakes are always trying to touch you. You’ve decided to move on; just as well nobody wants you here.

As you cross the bridges towards the outlands, you hear the voice of your Medusa acquaintance. “You’re leaving…? What the hell do you expect to find out there, is it money your after!?” She screams, tossing her coin purse to you “Here, take it! Now you have no reason to leave!” she bellows as her eyes begin to well up. Leaving is still an option… What do you do?

I chuckle as I realize something I should have realized earlier. I pick up the bag and walk over towards her. I grab her hands, causing her to blush, and bring them up in and put the bag in them, and then close her hands around it. "On second thought." I say, "I think I'll stick around."

"Really!" She exclaims excitedly but then catches herself, "I mean, fine. I don't care. Idiot!" She says turning around and raising her nose up, blushing.

"Yep, it seems I've found something more valuable than gold." I then get up close behind her and gently grab her chin, and turn her to face me so that our noses are only inches apart, "By the way, you're a horrible liar." I then kiss her, and in all honesty I was expecting her to push me away and yell at me, but instead she wraps her arms around my shoulders and pulls me in deeper.

We break the kiss and we stare into each others eyes for a moment before we both get the same idea and do the dirty deed right there. Afterwards we decide to head to my place to rest for the night, and in the morning I'm awoken by something flicking my inner ear. I turn and sure enough, it's my new lover's hair giving me a good morning "kiss." I then hear the snake's owner pipe up and ask "Did you sleep well?"

"Yep." I reply, giving her a smile. We both get out of bed and prepare breakfast together. During breakfast she asks "Why were you going to leave yesterday?"

"Well, before I realized how you felt about me, I used to think you didn't really care about me, you and everyone else in this town. The thing is you were the only person in the village who went out of their way to talk with me, the others just treated me like an outsider. So I decided there was nothing for me here and then you came along and tried to stop me and that's when everything clicked." I say.

"And also, yesterday when you said you found something more valuable than gold, were you refering to me and if so were you serious?" She inquires, blushing.

"Yes to both. I meant every word of it." I say and give her a kiss on the forehead. She just blushes and mutters "Idiot." But every now and then I catch her looking up from her breakfast and smiling at me before noticing I'm watching and quickly looks down again.

After breakfast, she quickly slithers up to me and says to me, looking way more nervous than usual, "Hey, uh, I know this is sudden and all but, would you like to marry me?" I look at her, a grin grows on my face, and I sweep her up into a big hug.

"What are you doing, Idiot?!" She yells.

"Think of it as my way of saying, 'A thousand times yes!'" I say, giving her a big kiss.

A few weeks later and we're happily married. She hasn't changed much, but that's okay, I like her just as is. Also since I'm now married to someone in town, the towns people don't treat me like that much of an outsider anymore.
