WELCOME! TO MAKURA KRULL!

There is an island, sitting in the heart of the unknown. It stands unperturbed by time ..where beings grow to massive lengths and are split between the urge of depravity and destruction. That island.. is Makura Krull. (Jeiel Yozama jumps from the trees down to the undergrowth, dusting his pants and sleeves)

Hello, everyone. I know... been a while since I've introduced a new realm of discovery and awe. This time, it's the wild, it's the wet, it's the untamed Makurull (shortened term, just thought of it from the back of my head). Without further ado, let's begin.

Introduction and History

Makura Krull was an island of monsters even before the Conversion (the transformation of Monsters into Mamono) began. Humans never dared to tread upon it, nor was it ever recognized as a territory for any governing body or form of authority. FOR some indiscernible reason, the island is not found anywhere in the Mamono Realm, and yet it is still affected by the same laws of the latter.  The Conversion reached its shores - and everything on it nearly stayed the same way.

Rumours have always stated that Makura Krull is an island cursed by time and menagerie. A certain mage lived here many centuries ago, constructing a ring of defense to ensure no one can ever find him or disturb him as he was revered for his ability to transmogrify life in monstrous proportions. When a swell of Order soldiers, by happenstance, came upon the island they broke through the defensive ring, angering the mage. He was enjoying the silence of the still island, and now people have arrived ruining it. In fury he brought upon his darkest magic spell, engulfing the island in sickening blight. The creatures that guarded the island as its home were stricken by hollow rage. Many became titanic-sized terrors, while others evolved in both ferocity and wit. All of them turned to the invaders of their homeland - and tore the men apart.

TO ensure the rude entry won't ever happen again, the mage tied the transmogrifying spell to the island - as long as the island is alive, the monsters will thrive, and so will its descendants. The mage died decades later, and fast forward to the present, the island remains to what it is to this day.

Description

Makura Island (Day)

The ocean surrounding Makura Krull is subjected to fog. No one knows what lies beyond the fog - but no one is ever known to return once they tread past it. This natural fog is what obscures it from other Realms and planes of existence (some compare it to a veil, much like the one that hides Oz). The waters around Makura Krull is murky, and vast amounts of monstrous life call it home. (Jeiel's comment: IF you're tempted to take a dip, for the love of Gods, don't.)

Makura Krull experiences a unique terraforming of its landscape depending on the time of the day. When it is daytime, the island is larger, revealing an abundance of plateaus, mountains, valleys and hills, verdant in green as the island is in a tropical temperament all year-round, and geothermal heat from below the earth keeps the place hot and humid. There are also areas known as sallows, which are deep trenches where forgotten beings, starved of mana for ages, lie in wait for unfortunate souls. By nighttime, the island loses half of its original size as the water rises and swallows the

shores. Nocturnal life surges from the ocean depths and will try to reach out to the land to snack upon hapless prey - which can also mean a human male, if they're desperate for mana.

Makura Krull has two sets of walls made of ancient stone, wood and metal. These walls were established by the two races of human civilization living by a thread in the island-realm (some say these humans secretly thrived while the monsters pervaded, and the walls were adopted from the earlier ring of defense made by the fabled mage of Makurull's origin). The first set of inhabitants, the Awil, are dark-skinned, wild-faced humans who live by the rocks. They keep watchful vigilance on the first wall  - named Dai Valoi (The Foretress), as well as regularly perform a ritual of sacrifice by selecting a male among their ranks, dressing him in natural red paint, and tying him to a pair of obelisks to be 'offered' to the Makuran beasts. This ritual is called the Agaithan Lommhain.

The second set of inhabitants, the Ikna, are people of a few words. They have mastered the art of telepathic communication, expressing the words they need to say without moving their lips. They keep watch of the second wall, named Dai Pamauea (The Barricade).

While the Awil live in sparse hovels above rocks, avoiding the rising tide as soon as night falls, the Ikna live in camouflaged huts close to the walls. Both these human tribes are able to keep themselves hidden from the Makuran beasts for the most part, but in many circumstances, their male inhabitants disappear when entering the wild areas - usually falling victim to the snares of the Mamono living there.

Biology

The island -realm known as Makura Krull is abundant is the element known as Blight. It is the element responsible for the beings in Makura Krull to maintain their sheer size (this evident in both their Mamono and primordial beast forms), and their mentality to be continually diluted in their ancient, violent ways. This is why most of the Makuran 'beasts' are often caught in a crossfire of being sex-crazed and drowned in malevolence. It is said their tendency of going berserk and possibly killing anything that crosses their path disappears completely when they are showered in mana by their fated mates.

Makura Krull has many variations of life, separated into tiers of existence that employ the all-too familiar 'laws of nature'. The lowest tier is the Agolo - mutated plant and animal-Mamonos. The second tier are the Iamua, which are relics of the bygone ages as Mamono races. Last but not least are the Telemauna, the dominating Mamono species who are twisted and cruel in both form and manner of capturing men.

Places of Relevance

Agi Tolaua/ Graveyard of Kings - the reputed grave of the Megaprima Kongs, the monster girls revered as the protectors and undisputed alpha of the Iamua races. It is said the Kongs were wiped out by the alien Skullwrithers, back before the Conversion happened.

Es Alsia /The Glade - said to be a location where scientists from Polove tried to set up a lab of study after they discovered about the existence of Makurull - only to fail. The ruins of a research facility lay close to a sunken swamp, who in clear days often shines 'like a mirror'.

The Great Sallows - the largest Sallow found in Makurull. Is abundant in Iamua Mamono who thrive in dark, wet conditions. Men who end up in this cursed part of the realm are often 'shared' by its inhabitants, and nearly none of them fight or argue with each other on male ownership.

Vao Olaloa / Flourishing Wilds - one of the many jungle parts of Makurull. Many Mamono live here, camouflaged in the greenery. It is said that men who disappear here 'are eaten by Vao Olaloa' as if the Wilds itself is alive.
