Standing up on the upper portion of the courtyard I smile, much to the elementalists dismay.
"That means you have a plan, doesn't it?" Nodding, I grab my own rifle and jump down to the ground level. We've finally got a proper siege to fight off! Yell for the cannons to be aimed at the tanks, gyrocopters ready for flight should fire on the dragons, all carts are to be lined up on the opposite side of the courtyard. I look to the elementalist and motion to the top of the tower. Make it snow.
"Yes sir!" The elementalist grins, happy to practice in an actual emergency. I put my second in command in charge of any changes necessary and take a small group out the back door. Thankfully mother bicorn didn't stay to get in the way, she probably could have crashed straight through the gate. Some of our shooters are focusing on keeping the minotaur pinned so she can't do just that.
I take my small team around behind them, staying low and keeping out of sight. When we get behind them I grin at my fellows. They know what it means, cover me while I do something really crazy.
They don't even question their unspoken order as I run into the enemy assault group. Straight up I see the dwarves in the tanks dive in and close up hatches. Luckily I wasn't planning to use that manoeuver. I made a good target though, and while focusing on me I saw one tank buried up to the cannon.
One of the orcs turned towards me and opened fire. I ducked behind a snow bank, and slowly felt more and more attention pounding my way. Glad to know they didn't forget me. Peeking up I see the orc get a facefull of snow.
The arachne's have set up a giant slingshot, and that makes them a target. And I know just wht to take them out with. Rushing to the next pile of snow I fire off a few running shots, getting one of the yeti's in the back. I get hit taking cover and shiver. It went down my shirt!
Taking a breath I spot one of our gyro's going down, the pilot being dropped by one of the dragons. Why don't we ever get the badass mamono? Taking up position I take a shot, missing as she spots me, grabbing a handful of wool. Now that gives me an idea.
Leaping out of cover, I run straight for one of the cannons. The attackers quickly close ranks, even bothering to start turning the cannon towards me. The dragon hurls the lump of wool at me, nd I dodge to the side, scooping it up in a handful of snow. I then pull a hammer toss to hurl it at one of the arachne. They turn as the small spray of snow hits them, then get bopped on the head with the wool, knocking them out. Perfect.
Looking back at the cannon, I notice it's aimed straight for me. I taunt right before the cannon fires. Jumping to the side I don't quite make it out of the way, my legs getting caught in the large ball and sending me back a few feet. Shaking myself off I look up, smiling as I see what I've been waiting for.
No amount of mamono will save them from what's coming next. I signal my team to put their shields up, moments before a great shadow appears over us. When the attackers notice and look up, I see more than a few pale.
I run for the position, already about to get drowned in snow again. I pull some shots as I rush in, much to the shock of our opponents. Standing in the middle of them, most too shocked by the piling snow above them, I cheer one word. The only word I need. DISTRACTION! And moments later my cheer is drowned out by a tonne of snow hitting the lot of us.
I dig my way out of the pile, grinning as I always do when a mad plan works. Looking around I see a set of yeti legs flailing about, a number of other boys digging their way out of the snow, and then a hand, bursting out like a zombie with a mission. The minotaur rises up, the opposition leader in her other arm. Taking one look at me, she backs away, shaking a fist.
"We'll be back! Mark my words, we'll be back with even more boys and mamono! Just you wait!" Laughing I wave her off, yelling that I'll be waiting for them alright. This is the most fun I've had in weeks! I turn to the fort, looking at our boys cheering at the retreating attackers. Lifting my rifle I let out one last warcry, before heading back to the fort. The elementalist and my second meet me inside the gate.
"Great work, captain!" My second pats me on the back while the team I took out walks up behind me, getting a hero's return. I hand the elementalist the legendary Stone of High Power. He takes one look at it, then another at me.
"What were you thinking?!" He shouts at me. "You almost gave it to them!" Smiling my cheshire grin I correct him. They never would have expected it to be out with me instead of in here. He stutters for a moment to try and reply, but gives up and shrugs.
"You really are crazy, aren't you?" I pat him on the back. Crazy as a bag of cats.
