Holland Tier, Moving Flurry.

Commander to the Scout regiment of Kedai’s town guard. Holland is the more reserved of the three commanders, he’s not silent nor is he talkative, he in a balance between the two, silent when there’s nothing to talk about but won’t stop talking when a subject that piques his interest shows up. If one were to describe him it would be particular, a habit of Holland was to make sure everything was in order and accounted for, he would memorize his steps, how many swipes his daggers made during battle and would sometimes stop in the middle of battle just to scan the area or the number of enemies. This habit indeed rubbed off on the other Scouts, especially to those who spends a long amount of time with him, thankfully making them more efficient. A few Scouts had even called him Moving Flurry, with his odd habit of memorizing his movement he could move around trees like he was on solid ground, making him just as dangerous no matter what environment he was on. Strong willed could also be used, having been used to seeing so much suffering and so many sacrifices he isn’t shaken lightly, only the most gruesome fate might deter him

He keeps his face clean shaven, making him lean more towards a pretty boy with his lean body rather than looking gruff like most of the other guards. Though don’t let his appearance fool you, despite his calm grey eyes, chill short blonde hair and his reserved smile, he’s seen more than any man should, this also applies to the squad, which everyone calls the ‘Recon Elites’.

To clarify Holland and his squad were once part of Order’s main anti-demon force, when them being involved in stealth and espionage. Back then Holland was quiet and cold, his hatred for the monsters, with the lies that were drilled Into his head by the Church, drove him to perform even the most cruel of actions, it didn’t help the fact that his own father and mother were dragged away and corrupted respectively. He was always in the group where they had to quickly take down a fort or an area, all in silence, Holland always made sure to give his best,  letting his anger loose with his silent killing, sparing none, not even those who were begging for mercy, to him he had taken the teaching of the Chief God seriously, where any who harm the innocents were monsters and deserved to be killed. Eventually the higher-ups notice his enthusiasm in his reports and called him, making him responsible to find those who were working with monsters. Though initially disappointed, he got over it when he learned that he would help prevent things like demon realm conversions from happening or raids on cities, after that he gladly took the job with same dedication.

For three years Holland served with loyalty, he would learned secrets of those who would kill just to hide them, track those with traitorous ideals and quickly dispatching them and most importantly kill monsters who, to him at the time, wished to bring the world to ruin. When one day all of that loyalty came crashing down. The mission was no different than any other, suspicious activities by a random citizen, strange concentration of demonic energy or a woman whose mannerism suddenly change, to him there was no need for reason, if they would want to harm others he would gladly slit their throats. So what caused him to suddenly to cause a heel turn? It happened when he learned that he was working for the same kind monsters that he swore to kill.

During his years in Order he looked up to the knights, who were revered  as heroes and champions. So he was devastated, no destroyed when he saw what the horrors they did. The mission that was stated before was a simple one, he was to travel to a resident town and learn to any odd behaviors, this was brought up due to a concentration of demonic energy in the area. Holland performed his task and found nothing wrong in the town, then he found something that made his resolve wavered, in the outskirts he noticed young men and women living in poverty, forced to fight to get a single piece of bread. It was made worse when he learned that the reason was ‘they were suspected working with the monsters’ Holland, despite having his resolve shaken, put it behind him, sometimes bad things had to happen for good things to exist, a lesson the knights have taught him, something which he held in pride.

Of course even that was shattered. Because of his conscious he returned to the town, guilt was eating at him, bringing along a sack of food, but he was frozen in horror when he reached the outskirts. When he arrived at the city, it was on fire, people were screaming only to be silenced with a stab of a sword, bodies of innocents littered the streets as the knights ran through it, their swords swinging at anything that moved. There Holland reach an epiphany, what about any other town that he was told to examine, what about the farmer who was only looking for an honest living, the child who was unknowingly getting into something he didn’t know was wrong. He broke there, his cold shell melted from his anger, not for the mon- no, the mamonoes, he was angry at the knights, at Order, at the church, they were the true monsters. Yet he couldn’t bring himself to draw his daggers against those he had once held on a pedestal, even if there were scum, they still had a reason to fight, to protect others from monsters. So he did the only thing he could, he ran, the comrades he had made, the ones who had experience the same betrayal joined him. They all ran, some were captured and were executed, but Holland and the ones that weren’t kept going. Until the reach a town, there him and his comrade were perplexed at the inhabitants, both man and monster were living in harmony. Fortunately they were welcomed with opened arms and there Holland met Hans, who to him was a man who was worthy of any reverence.

Hans had used the run aways to good use, forming a group that was known now as Scouts to help protect his new home from threats. There Holland smiled, when he realized that for first time he was fighting for a hero, instead of a monster.

Rizal, Dead Eyes.

The most wild of the commanders is Rizal, hauling from Zipangu, made obvious by his brown skin, dark brown eyes and black hair, this man travelled from his homeland in search of excitement, and he found it. He never seems to take things seriously, he would always have a snarky remark or at least a dismissive response. He would however do any task in the most quickest and affective way possible proving that he was a good leader. His nickname was something that the citizens decide to call him, it was a combination of the word Dead center and bull’s-eye, and boy did he earn It. Like most Watchmen he is equipped with a bow and musket to handle air based monsters, Watchmen are said to be very accurate in their shots, but Rizal takes it to a whole another level.

With a bow Rizal can calculate the movement of its arrows, when it would reach the apex of its arc, how much speed it would fly in whatever conditions or how high he needed to hold it when an enemy is too far away. With a musket he could easily take out even the speediest of flyers, either with a well-placed head-shot or simple incapacitation by taking out their wings, strangely he would have an odd mantra whenever he uses it, he would repeat the words ‘Ready, aim and fire’ even to himself, this mantra is actually part of the training he would give to fresh recruits, where they hold their muskets straight in the air, before aiming them at the enemy. This allows for a group to take out an entire line with a simultaneous shot. And with a special addition, he also has a revolver, a Colt Dragoon Revolver to be precise, when asked he stated that It was a gift from his uncle, he uses this in close range and it hits like a freight train, not to mention the enchantments the mages had generously implanted in it allowed the gun to be fire continuously as long as it has bullets.

Rizal seem to rely a lot more on fire arms then traditional swords, when confronted about it he said ‘My father used to go on and on about how our family are well known archers or something and trained me to me BONE to make sure I mastered it, it was annoying but I just can’t bare going against my father’s wishes, he’s a grouchy bastard, but he’s still my dad and I help but respect what he wants’ directly to Hans, a man he respected, enough so that he could freely insult in a way only a guy would see as friendly.

Speaking of friendly, even though Rizal is highly respected because of his position and skills, he has a rather disturbing lack of friends. Maybe it was his rather dismissing personality, which caused him to not even care the slightest about others, maybe it was his loud mouth that would spew out profanities at the worst possible moments or was it his eyes, his brown eyes that held a demented twinkle causing a mystery to form about his rather questionable sanity, especially when accompanied by a manic lopsided grin. Rizal doesn’t even care a bit about what others thought of his, his life was his own and If others wanted to be part of It he doesn’t care. As long as they don’t go into his private life or worse harm the children.

Yet another strange thing about him was that he’s rather fond of children in a way that won’t land his ass in jail, instead he treats them as younger siblings, making sure they’re safe and standing up to them in case one of them is being bullied. This of course makes him very popular with the loli monsters who seek out a protective ‘onii-chan’ as they say. With him having a very neutral view about the whole monster human business It wouldn’t be surprising to see him being covered with the young ones. ‘Course he still won’t hesitate in blowing their brains out of the cause trouble.

Fan Halen, Kedai’s Unbroken shield and Razor sword.

Thus we reach our most well-known and popular commander, he commands the Guardsmen with authority, keeping them in line with his strict demeanor, his piercing blue eyes would only look at you when you’ve done something wrong, and whenever those blue orbs of authority lock onto you, you better hope to god you’ve fixed whatever you fucked up before he closes in on you. On duty, he will not move from his post or stray away from any patrol path unless a threat arises, he always has a stoic face and hardly ever smiles, whenever he’s on duty. Once his shift ends a totally different person takes over the man, a smile will always be present, his respectful speech will turn into an informal one and his piercing blue eyes will suddenly feel warm and comforting. It was this trait that made him so likable, he’s able to split his work from his life and doesn’t allow it to consume it whole.

While Fan is looked up upon the most, usually by the civilians, he actually is the least experience of the three commanders and is also the youngest, with Holland in his early thirties, Rizal is in his forties and he was only in his late twenties. Unlike others he doesn’t feel too good about the word sacrifice and makes sure that every guard makes it out alive, this will either result wonderfully if they are able to push back the threat and minimize damage and will give then a larger advantage in case of a second attack, or it would cause him to prioritize in saying the guards rather than the civilians which could result disastrously.

Though this devotion to the safety of his men seems to stem back at his early years, when he was a simple mercenary who fought for coin and fame instead of duty. The tittle Unbroken shield spawned during that time, a mercenaries code is to always take advantage of war to earn his money, Fan was in a group that didn’t have a name but none of them cared, as long as they were hired and paid they wouldn’t give a damn about what others call them. However Fan held that group close to his heart, after losing his loving parents to cruel fate he joined the group hoping to find companion ship, the mercenaries first took him in because of pity, yet when they were ambushed and resulted in Fan being one of the member to be beaten over and over again, he still kept standing up and tried to fight back. They drove the attackers and had Fan joined the group officially as a member, with training he proved to be one of the most resilient member.

For him it was the best year of his life, he travelled all around the land, taking in breath taking views and meeting new people, sure meeting these people so they could pay him for work, but he meet people nonetheless. The group was rather well-known and popular thanks to their rather chivalrous following, they still drunk and flirted with any women or men they could find, but they would only attack those who meant harm and would help any in need, for a price. The latter proved to be their downfall.

Like I said the group would help anyone from Order to the monsters, naturally Order immediately sent a group to wipe out the ‘heretics’ and almost accomplished it, If it weren’t for Fan. He tried to fight the soldiers but they were trained to be experts with swords while Fan only source of tutelage was a mercenary group. There he was cut, stabbed, slash and even skewered once, only for them to gape as he stood up every single time. That was also when he received his other tittle the Razor sword, though generic the name gave him confidence every time it was said, especially since he earned to be recognized. During the battles with the soldier, Fan fought back, his bleeding body shook and trembled but he kept fighting, the sword swung like it was wielded by healthy man, then in a stroke of luck he landed a strike that took off the opponents skin with a wet squelch. Eventually others help them to fend off the soldiers and Fan felt sad, many of his friends were among those who were killed and those who weren’t were comrades in arms. From that point on he swore that he would do his best to not cause unnecessary sacrifices.

Then he decided to parted with the group much to their sadness, and eventually he found Kedai. Hans was the first to welcome him and surprised him when he told him about his previous life with the gang, he said that Fan’s talent could be used to fend off threats, so there wouldn’t be any unwanted sacrifices. Those last words were what convinced her to joined and Fans happily took the job, now he felt how good it felt to fight for honor and duty.
