Ever since the current Demon Lord has changed Monsters into the forms they have now, a Mamano's husband is paramount to their existance. Even the most intelligent of Monsters are ruled by these instincts, so once they have gained a partner, the behavior will always be changed in one way or another. The only exceptions are Monsters who are too dim to distinguish individual males from one or another, or those too licentious to care. Even then, they can still find a favorite man if they spend long enough times around them, and they find their repeated coitus appealing.

Attitudes on how to treat their Husband (the term that shall heretofore refer to a Human Male who is in a sexual relationship with a Mamano, or is otherwise the object of a Mamano's affections for simplicity sake) varies between monster species. Some become subservient upon gaining a Husband, others aggressive. Some devote themselves to their husband, and others believe their Husband should be subservient to them. Here shall be listed factors and practices concerning Husbands, and how Mamano society is shaped around them.

Imprinting

As a core part of a Mamano's instinct is their imprinting. As with their hunger for Human Men and desire to mate, it is a core part of every Mamano's instincts. Generally most Mamano will imprint on a man once they recognize them as their husband. Imprinting can vary from simply falling in love, having a man take a Mamano's virginity, being a particularly pleasing lover, defeating a Mamano in combat, spending a significant amount of time with them, or being the first male they come across.

There are two forms of imprinting. The first will cause a Mamano to pursue a man in the nature that her instincts dictate, and this is based on what species she is. This constitutes a Mamano's 'dating life' from their point of view. Some Mamano will spend extensive ammounts of time going through various men before recognizing them as their Husband, either testing their strength, their value as a lover, or will simply giving them their affections in the hopes it will be returned. In this way a Mamano will not recognize their husband as a man who is simply unatainable, and will manage to keep going until she has found someone who they claim as their own. Once they have found this someone, they then have the second type of imprinting.

This is what distinguishs someone they simply like from someone who is their Husband. Once a Mamano has someone they recognize as their Husband they will see a change of behavior, they will mate exclusively with their Husband and make sure all his needs are met, keeping him alive and healthy is paramount. Every species treat their Husband differently than they would any other individual, and regardless of your fate, to be the chosen Husband of a Mamano will mean at the very least you can be sure to survive to the next day.

While all Mamano will possess the first form of imprinting, not all will readily appear to possess the second. For some, a Mamano will discard any male who does not cause the second form of imprinting, but will settle down once they do. Even the most ferocious of Mamano can be 'tamed' by a suitable mate. However, there are others, such as Slimes and Zombies, will continue to cycle through males regardless. This is believed to be due to their dull intellect, the second form of imprinting is not quite as intrinsic as it is for other Mamano. While they have been known to follow men and even women they are somewhat fond of, they will leave if continously fought off or ignored. However, if a man were to continuosly follow, or to keep one of these Mamano and frequently mate with them, slowly the second from of imprinting will begin to take place, and though they may not comprehend, they will see that man as their Husband. Initally while they will still be slaves to instinct, they will still return to and follow this male. Once their instincts imprint this man as their Husband, their is often a physical change. Primitive Elementals will gain a physical shape in the body of a woman, Slimes will transform into a more advanced and intelligent variant, and Zombies will begin to regain more liveliness, intelligence, and beauty. In this way, they evolve into more ordinary Mamano, intelligent enough to completely dedicate themselves to their Husband as any other.

Polygamy

If one were to count Humans, Demihumans, and Mamano all as one race, then the current gender ratio is one male to every three females. Mamano practices regarding Husbands reflects this reality.

The current Demon Lord, being an avowed and devoted monogamist, incapable of thinking of any other beside her Husband, has tried to implant this instinct into all Mamano. As a result most Mamano settle down once they have chosen their Husband, those that don't will generally release a Human male once they have been satisfied. Once a Mamano has chosen a Husband, their instincts will take over, and most will become completely devoted to them in one way or another, being unable to think of having sexual relationships with another, broaching the subject will have be relunctant, reticent and unwilling at best.

This applies to those who even take on strings of lovers. The idea of taking another man while they already have a Husband or other chosen mate is unthinkable, and is seen as extremely greedy, as a Mamano who takes more than one man to herself is seen as selfishly taking that prospective candidate from another Mamano. Monsters who do this are severely frowned upon and looked down on by other Mamano, and they have been known to form bands to liberate these men from the grasp of these greedy Mamano, if only to take them for themselves. As a result, only the very clever or very powerful Mamano are capable of sustaining such relationships with multiple male partners without reprecussions.

Conversely, the idea of a Male taking on multiple lovers is seen as quite economical. The numbers simply don't allow every Mamano to have their own husband. Mamano are much more willing to share their Husband if necessary, especially between close friends and siblings, and if they don't think they'd be able to fight off the competition and win. Mamano are also much more open to allowing another partner in their relationship if they are also in love with their Husband, and vice versa, especially in the cases of Doppelgangers and Living Dolls, either because they wish both parties to be happy, just their Husbands, or to maintain closer relationships with their now sister wives. Of course Mamano also recognize that a Husband can have too many wives, being unable to spend enough time with each of his wives, so these Harems are often smaller than some that from Human Kingdoms who practice Polygamy and see the number of wives as a status symbol.

Arguing between wives is common in these relationships, but rarely do they escalate. While many relationships are maintained through love and mutual understanding, many are also maintained by a delicate balance of power. Any Mamano who believes they should try to steal their Husband for themselves will be ganged up upon by all the other wives. Some say that the social circles of the Demon Realm are just as infinitely precarious and complex as the politics of the various Human Kingdoms. Also sexual relationships in these Harems can differ. Most agree that they can have group sex with their Husband, again as a means of economically sharing their time with them. However opinions can be split about their sexual relations with their sister wives. Some believe they should only direct their attention to their Husband, others believe that it is a good way to entice their husbands, and some see it as a means of satisfying eachothers lust without having to bother their Husband.

Attitudes to this form of polygamy vary, the Lamia family in particular are loathe to such relationships, as they feel they should be the ones to fill all of their husbands needs, and no other. Bicorns are infamous for their love of polyamorous relationships, while some species social structures encourage it, bands of Kehpri, Goblins and Orcs will generally choose a single male to either dominate or be dominated by, only because grabbing more than one will often bring ire of other Mamano, while packs of Werewolves, Werecats, and colonies of Slimes, Giant Ants and Honeybees will choose a single mate for their Queen or Alpha should they prove strong enough, or their respective leaders like them enough.

Some will even prove devoted enough to their Husbands that they will go Wife hunting. In their minds, the more Mamano who are devoted to their Husband, the more worthy of their own love he is, and the more they can show off how wonderful their Husbands are to others. Most Mamano who do this tend to be extremely powerful already, and will usually not do so if they already have a group of their own to give to their Husband on the outset. Mamano are known to do this include Necromancers, who will summon undead as sexual toys for their husbands and for their own experiments, Baphomets, who will bring in their Witch followers, or use their own magic to create young Mamano for their older brothers, Pharoahs will often give their unclaimed Mamano servants to their Husband, many Apophis wil do likewise with conquered kingdoms, some Khepri colonies, some of the more aggressive and strong Bicorns, and particularly agressive Mamano who have been trained as Kunoichi. Especially devoted wild Dragons have also been said to kidnap unclaimed Mamano, flying them back to their Horde for their husband, and even Ryu have been rumored to give their Shirohebi followers to their husbands as well.

Husband Trading

As many predatory Mamano there are, not every Mamano is able to take her own Husband using their own methods. As this became more apparant, some Mamano have instead formed a symbiotic relationship with other Mamano species, waiting for Mamano who carry strings of lovers, such as an Arachne, and will wait outside these dwellings for men to be spit out so they can take them as their own. Some of these predatory Mamano in turn have started a barter system in exchange for these services. Treasures have been traded in exchange for Husbands. Some Mamano will even go on Husband raids to take men for barter rather than for mating. Entire economies have started this way. Of particular are the Charybdis, who will sink ships, and spit out the crew until she has found a mate she is fond of. Entire underwater boomtowns have been known to form around particularly powerful, or picky, Charybdis during their 'dating lives'

Lastly, it is known for Human Communities, wether they be friendly towards Monsters and wish to maintain good relaitons, or simply do not have the mens to fight off a Husband Raid, to willingly give Men and supplies, either volunteers or conscriptees, to these tribes to appease them, particularly to those monsters whose warrior culture centers around the abduction of these men, especially Amazons, who have a history of trading with other settlements from before they were corrupted by Succubi. Attitudes to this bragaining vary between individual tribes, some believe that one must forcibly take a man as part of their courtship, and taking him as part of a deal is too weak, while others prefer to foster relations with Humans, seeking future deals of a similar nature, or might be in such a dire position as to not be able to say no. Men used in these deals are usually given a greater degree of freedom as well, being allowed to leave the tribe, and visit his friens and family, as it is agreed that he will not try to flee, and will return to his wife when he is done.

Husband Raids

Some of the stronger Mamano who live together in communities will conduct a Husband Raid, or Man Hunt, as necessary to find mates, particularly species like Ogres and Amazons. They will form raiding parties to invade nearby Human Settlements, or attack travelers to provide mates for those that don't have them. Practices vary by culture, some will only do it as necessary, while others see it as a important aspect of their cultural identity. Most often it is believed one must take a Husband for ones self, and in this, they are no different than the more solitary Mamano. Others believe they get better results working together, and can sort the spoils amongst themselves upon their return. In this system, many cultures will be willing to give the 'spares' those Husbands deemed unfit for the stronger warriors, to those who are too weak or inept to participate in these hunts. In addition, some of these Monsters will hunt even if they're village is entirely claimed, in order to sell off the men to other Mamano.

Husband Raising

Seen as some as an alternative to going on Husband Raids, this is a practice in which a Mamano adopts a Human Child with the intent of marrying them when they become of age. Most Mamano see this as a smart and charitable means to obtain a Husband, provided they can stand the wait, as they are rescuing a small child, giving them as much love as can be given, and indoctrinating them to Demon Culture. Depending on the Demonic Energy given off by the Mamano, children raised in this manner may be no different from any other Human, or may be completely indoctrinated by Mamano Culture, having little chance to ward off such energy for such a sustained ammount of time. Noteworthy however, despite preachings of the Order, few Monsters will actively kidnap a Human Child, as the same instincts that distill a love for their husband also instills a love for their children, and to them stealing Children is almost worse a crime than Husband Stealing.

That said, many Mamano will jump on the chance to raise a wayward or orphaned Human Child, male or female, that they come across, and will be relunctant to return them should their parents or guardians ever appear to reclaim them. Mamano will use their natural talents in an attempt to instill love into the child they are raising so that by the time they are of marrying age, they will be infatuated with their mother figures, and will be eager to satisfy their lusts. Amongst Mamano, consensus on 'marrying age' varies. While many would be eager to marry their prospective Husband candidates as early as possible, sex with young men is looked at as a form of sexual deviancy, though for some of course, this may make it even more desireable. The practice of Husband Raising is also used by those who have already chosen a Husband, raising a Human Child in this manner gives the Monster in question a valuable commodity, a Human Male indoctrinated to love and desire Monster Girls. The mother in this case may marry their child to a powerful Mamano in exchange for wealth of political power. In this context, it is the same as an arranged marriage.

Husbands in Mamano Society

The fact of the matter is, Mamano society is a Matriachal one. Some Men can hold power in Demon Realms, such as Masters of Orcs, Kephri, and others who let the Husband make the decision making. Likewise, while in Human society, most Monsters defer to their Husbands. However in the Demon Realm, most Mamano prefer to leave their husbands out of the decision making process, not out of prejudice, but as a means of pampering, to keep them from having to worry about anything. In the Demon Realm it is the Mans job to satisfy his wife and to let her pamper him. Indeed, it is believed half of the Demon Realm Economy is exports, and basic living materials, and the other half is products meant to please and satisfy their husbands. Not to say each Mamano however holds any particular power over her Husband (aside from the obvious charms and magical and physical strength). The Demon Realm is historically a complete Autocracy, and while the current Demon Lord is much more willing to incorporate feedback, and is trying to shift the government more closely to that of Human Society, by and large she makes all the big decisions. Still, any news that will affect the general populace is expected to go through the wives first.

Men are allowed to operate their own business', and indeed many are critical for trade by using their contacts from before they married, and male run businesses are about as frequent as female run ones, men are however banned from joining the Demon Lords Army. Husbands are seen as seen as too precious a commodity to waste fighting against Human Kingdoms, and too many wives would worry themselves sick about there husbands were this to happen. The only exceptions are the volunteer special forces, comprised entirely of fallen Hero's fighting for the Demon Lord. It is also generally accepted, though not enforced, that a mans Wife, Daughter, or trusted friend is to follow him should he ever leave the house, for fear a wayward Monster may try to take him for their own. While this treatment can be stifling, it is ultimately up to the Man to make himself comfortable in this enviroment, or so the common wisdom holds, to occupy himself with his own hobbies, follow his passions, become involved in the community, just let the Wife take care of all the basic necessities is all.
