The Greater Demon Realm

A vast swath of land far to the north, most of the land is desolate, large swaths of plains, wastelands, and swamps, and tundra, with ruins from the Demon Lords armies from ages past, masses of wild Monsters live here, and will periodically form parties to raid nearby settlements. Usually there is little to note here, and little reason to come, save for when a Demon Lord comes into power, and gathers armies of Monsters here to take over the Human Kingdoms, the countries here are usually the first to fall.

The Greater Demon Realm typically encompasses the lands directly held in the Demon Lord's demesne, in addition to those of her direct vassals and allies.

The Black Lands

The name of the land in which the Royal Demon Realm, tales of it's lands change with each telling. The land in and of itself is a trial, even during peacetime vast amounts of Demonic Energy swirl tainting the land, making anything or anyone who grows here dead and dying. There are high mountains and mountain chains, rocky and jagged, volcano's smoking and poring lava, raging frothing rivers, desolate wasteland, wild untamed barren planes, dying and fermenting swamps, dense forest filled with dangers and forgotten evils, and barren ruins and forts from the ages of previous Demon Lords, still host to hostile inhabitants, and laden with dangerous traps. The only consistent feature is the Demon Lords Castle, a monumental structure which has been destroyed and rebuilt many times, with untold relics and treasures being lost and found here, it is where the Demon Lord will make their home to unite Monster kind, and set about a bloody war against Humanity. During such an age, the grey skies will become black, what life that is here will become blackened, corrupted, and deadly, the land itself a weapon of war.

Humans only come here in times of war to kill the current Demon Lord, and in peacetimes, only scavengers and nomads come through here, picking apart the ruins for salvage, and fending off vicious Monsters.

Much however has changed since the current Demon Lord has taken control. The Demon Lord has decided to study Human Society, and has tried to emulate it in order to civilize Monster Kind. Her first attempt has been through cultivating the Black Lands, and founding a country to rival that of the great Human Nations to the south. She had gathered her Monstrous Hordes under her banner, as is customary, but has used them as farmers, workers, and miners rather than just as soldiers. Demonic Energy lies heavily in the air, however it is used to enhance and control the lands by Monsters, it is still exceedingly dangerous for Humans, spending a few days here can easily transform a human into a Monster. The mountains and hills have reopened their desolate mines, and have begun churning out iron, and demon silver, and all kinds of metals and gems. The volcanos have had channels dug to divert the flow of lava, and the heat now makes for relaxing hot springs, and their ash used to fertilize the land. They have drained the wetlands, and built canals to divert the water of the rivers, taming them, and irrigating the plains and wastelands, making them fertile and bountiful. The forests have been utilized for hunting grounds and for lumber, and a number of plants and herbs have come about, both from being traded from faraway land, and from becoming mutated from the Demonic Energy, that are consumed both by Monsters, and exported into other lands. The many ruins have been restored and rebuilt into and past their prime, and around some of these Monster towns and villages have been founded, with an expansive road network connecting them all leading to the Demon Lords Castle, which itself is the jewel of the newly formed Kingdom.

A giant city, serving as a Capital of Monster trade, knowledge and culture has grown around the Demon Lords Castle, with high residential buildings, thriving forges, and intricate craftsman, a massive trading and merchant district in which all kinds of goods are bought and sold. The Demon Lord has opened her own castle for the use of her citizens, it's halls serve as an art gallery, with two sections, Love, which contains depictions of adoration of Monsters for their Husbands, their children and family, and lewd depictions of sex, and Non-Love. The treasury, which has traditionally been used to hold great swathes of treasure and powerful relics now acts as the Bank, and the money that goes into it also goes back into the economy. The armory houses the Monsters who serve as the army and police, protecting the lands. It's many rooms act as  meeting places for the people of the city for debates, as rooms for research and learning by scholars, and by magicians. Most of the wealthy and important Mamano send their daughters here to become educated, and to become more powerful Monsters. It is infact the epicenter of a global renaissance of Monster knowledge and culture, and it's fashions and doings are copied by Mamano everywhere.

It has seen a massive increase in population, as many Mamano seek refuge here, some bringing Husbands, others joining the Monstrous Horde, many of whom in the Horde are constantly bringing back men, both for themselves, and for the people of the Demon Realm. Monsters of every species come and live here in the very varied climate and landscape, most Mamano Societies send Diplomats here to take part of the great cultural exchange, regardless of the Monster Communities stance on the current war, though most support the Demon Lord wholeheartedly.

Territory of the Demon Lord expands greatly through conquest, the Demon Lord traditionally killing the leader of conquered Monster tribes and armies, and incorporating the soldier into their own army, the current Demon Lord however prefers to give the surrounding lands more local autonomy. By and large, she makes all the big decisions, and they are rarely questioned, but so long as her subjects follow a small list of rules in dealing with their people, and with Humans, then they are allowed to make their own judgments on how to rule. Many of the newly-found towns are run by their own elected mayors and sheriffs, leaders and chieftains of packs of Beastmen who roam the plains must swear fealty to her, similar with the noble lines of Vampires, who live in extravagant manors, and castles, holding their own land, many General and Soldiers of the Horde are granted land where they may retire once they have found a husband, and many Subbubi are claiming their own territory. These Monsters form the modern nobility of the Demon realm, and are beggining to form a complex set of relations, much like the the Human Kingdoms. These Nobles must submit their armies if they have any, to the cause of the Demon Lord, must treat their subjects and neighbors humanely, meet the needs of their people, must not war with each-other, and must obey the word of the Demon Lord.

The Demon Forests

Areas within and around the Black Lands, these are deep, dense and dark haunted forests, of which both Men and Monsters fear to tread. While the Demon Lords Hordes can walk through most of these forests, they are still dangerous, many of the most powerful and dangerous Mamano live here, the plants are corrupted by Demonic Energy. Plant-family Mamano have the easiest time of it here. In fact, many form their own communities and nations, being the only ones to truly navigate them freely. These minor communities have since sworn fealty to the Demon Lord in exchange for steady supplies of Husbands. Women who come here are often corrupted into some kind of Plant-family Monster, and will live here and protect the Forest, and hunt for husbands. Of note are the Tentacle Forests, the Demonic Energy here has transformed the plants here into lewd things that will violate and molest any who enter. They are actually quite popular tourist destinations for Mamano couples, who come here to stimulate fertility.

The Minor Border Nations

A number of weak nations who live on the outskirts of the Black Lands, their territory holds wastelands, wetlands, and hardy rocky plains, the land is poor, they suffer long and harsh winters, the countries poor and weak. These countries are always the first to be conquered and wiped out by Demon Lords in times of war, often being abandoned by the richer nations to the South. Even in peace times, the people struggle to make a living, and roving bands of Monsters come to rape their woman, and devour their men, the stories of these lands are many and terrifying. Their armies tend to be too small and weak to effectively defend themselves from these threats.

So when the new Demon Lord came to power, they were quite surprised to receive an envoy with offers of trade, treaties of peace to be signed, rather than the customary extermination. Believing the didn't have much choice, most of the leaders agreed to the terms, starting trade with the Demon Realm, giving men for Husbands, and expertise on Human Culture in exchange for wealth, goods, food, and protection by the Monstrous Horde. Expecting to be forced into slavery, most of the countries were quite surprised to see their men return, many of which with Monster Brides. Many of those who didn't immedieatly sign the treaties agreed to similar deals with the Demon Realm. Under the Demon Realm, roads have been built between the Human villages to Monster ones, the Monstrous Horde protects the people from brigands of Men and Monsters, together they cultivate the land better, and the trade between them has started a healthy economy, and in fact the standard of living is higher than it's ever been, Monsters freely roam the streets, marrying Human Men, and converting women, and in fact many of the rulers and royals now have Monsters and Monster blood in them. These varied states have since tranformed into different combinations of Dark and Bright Green Demon Realms.

Stances on the War vary from state to state. Some still consider themselves a part of the Alliance, despite seeing how well their neighbors still live, most of these have since been conquered by the Monstrous Horde, either with a Monster put in charge of the nation, or their lands given to the more Monster-Friendly ones. Others consider themselves neutral in the conflict, yet still engage with trade with the Demon Realm, and enjoy their protection under them, while more have become complete Demon Realms, and pledged themselves whole-heartedly to the Demon Realms cause, though their armies are kept for policing, the men deemed too valuable to waste in the war.

The Witch Forests Region

A center of learning for Monsters across the world, this area, not too distant from the coast, is a series of small locally governed republics that belongs as a vassal to the Demon Lord.

The area is characterized by its unique characteristics, it has a large forest that is perpetually in Fall year-round, and for its interplay of day and night. Most Dark Demon Realms have its day and night cycles reversed, with the day becoming as dark as night, and the night being as bright as day, illuminated by the moon. The Witch Forests Region however has a variation of the typical day/night cycle. Its nights are more like normal nights, though the moon still has a bewitching brightness to it, but its days are characterized by a bright orange light on the horizon associated with sunrise and sunset between when night comes and goes. Aside from that it has many hills, streams and bogs home to many wild monsters and foreboding towards any travellers.

The area is populated by many prosperous and wealthy cities, as well as small isolated hamlets and farming communities, and also communities built around old castles and churches dedicated to different Gods. Much trade between the other parts of the Greater Demon Realm come through here, so trade is good, and almost any substance or item can be found here. It also has a thriving farming community, and the cuisine here is well-regarded. But most importantly, the area is home to some of the Greater Demon Realms greatest Universities and Magic Academies. As such, despite its foreboding atmosphere, and its untamed wilderness many Monster Couples regard it as the ideal place to live.

The well-known Sabbath Organization has a prominent presence here, its largest branch is headquartered here, but despite that there are many other institutions that are just as well established, boasting scholars from everywhere between the Desert Region, and the Mist Continent. This area in fact is where a majority of Mages from the Demon Realm learn their craft. As such, some of the most common types of Monsters seen here are those with high capacity for Magical Talent.

The region is also well known for its many festivals that celebrate community, and exhibit the knowledge discovered by its many scholars. The chiefest of these events are the Harvest Festivals, wherein Monsters around the world come to celebrate their diversity, and dine side-by-side with other Monsters from the far corners of the world, Mages play games of magic, creating illusions and magical displays for others, frightening stories are told and shared around campfires, friends play pranks on each-other, and young monsters go into the streets looking to show off their Monstrous Beauty and are rewarded with prizes of candies and sweets. These celebrations are so popular that many of them have spread to the rest of the Greater Demon Realm.

The Ruined Kingdoms

A vast number or ruins strewn across the land of once great empires, that have been destroyed by Monsters and Demon Lords past, or were the sights of great battles in which all were massacred. They have since been taken as part of the Demon Realm, with various Monsters being appointed to lead them, many of these have made a large house of nobles, who play a part in the politics of the Demon Realm, and the other Monster Kingdoms around the world.

A great many of these are Undead Kingdoms, the large swaths of Demonic Energy have been known to raise zombies from the sights of past slaughters, leaving them to roam the land, these days some of the Undead have become intelligent enough to become Wights, some becoming Lichs, and use these Undead to form their own Kingdoms, Duchies, and Noble Republics, corralling the undead, pledging fealty to the Demon Lord, and their undead to her armies. Similarly the Vampires have always had a strong sense of Nobility, many of whom holding land in crumbling castles and forts, in and around the Black Lands, that have since been restored.

Some Queen Slimes have also become large enough to be considered small Kingdoms, swearing fealty to the Demon Lord. Under her, these lands have been restored up to, and past their former glory

Though they tend to be less cosmopolitan than the Royal Demon Realm, they still work as important holdings of land for the Horde, and as wheels of the economy. The Undead Kingdoms in particular however can be quite disconcerting for visitors, most Humans are put off by the peoples obsession over sex, and the Mamano over their obsession with death.

The Counquered Realms

The Human Lands that opposed and warred with the Demon Lord, and lost. Most of these were neighbors to the Border Nations, who were able to fund and field an army large and strong enough to defend themselves, they nevertheless were unable to stand against Monstrous Horde. The Demon Lord sent these countries treaties much like the ones sent to the Border Nations, but were refused. These lands were part of the Alliance, and were the first true losses they suffered, some of these countries were great, others were small.

These lands were conquered through great battles, in which the Monsters used their superior strength, magic, charms, and numbers to capture as many men and women alive as they could, enrapturing them with their bodies, and turning the women into lustful Monsters, soon overwhelming the nations. Others were bribed with goods, protection, and other promises to betray their fellows, some were taken by pro-Monster factions, backed by the Demon Realm, others were infiltrated the cities and strongholds of the Humans, slowly corrupting them, turning the women into monsters, and the men into monster-lovers, often going for Royal Families, and members of the ruling class.

The Demon Lord allows the Generals of the Horde make the decisions on how to fight the war, however it seems the Horde has a distaste of Siege Warfare, as open battles allow for men and women to be captured, however a lengthy siege means the opposition will slowly starve to death before surrendering. The Generals and capable Soldiers of the Horde are rewarded with the conquered lands, caving up the countries they conquer, and adding them to the territory of the Demon Realm.

The Hidden Valley Nation

A large country that has had little power and wealth to it, it owned a large amount of land between a set of hills and mountains, it was rather isolated, made most of it's money off of tolls for travelers passing through their lands to another, it was also home to much verdant lush untamed grassland, and beautiful vistas, many artists would also come through here. Though the land is beautiful, it could also be difficult to farm, most grew enough to simply feed themselves and their families. Monsters were relatively common here, though few were actively hostile, most preferred to be left alone, and most of the villages could survive with a rather light guard. As Monsters began to change shape and become more friendly however, more and more communities began to welcome them in, and a subtle shift in the economy began to take place.

Harpies would come to sell excess eggs, Werewolves would sell extra meat they had caught, Holstaurus their Milk, Beastmen started trading crafts and goods, even including Arachne and their silk, some even started farming Mandragoras, and a great exchange of goods was to be found in these small Human Towns, which quickly grew. The various Nobles of these lands, rather than try to exterminate the Monsters, welcomed the wealth they brought in, and soon the country was transformed from a small farming community, into one based on the buying and selling of Monster Goods. The Demonic Energy changed the land into a Green Demon Realm, making the land even more verdant and fertile, allowing the farmers to sell excess crops, both Human and Demon Realm, and as such the towns and cities here are renowned for their exchange of Human and Monster Goods.

By the time the Demon Lord came here, the country was already prosperous enough to resist her armies, but could not count on the protection of the anti-Monster Alliance. The Demon Lord didn't want to forcibly conquer such a Monster-friendly state anyway, and settled for agreements of trade. Under these terms, the Hidden Valley Kingdom is a key trade partner of the Demon Realm, and citizens there are allowed to tour the nation, many of the fledgling Monster Nobility come here visiting the local nobles, and building their own vacation houses, however the Hidden Valley Kingdom keeps their own troops, and is officially neutral, the largest and wealthiest of such states, and the Monstrous Horde is not allowed to bring their troops here. In addition, the Hidden Valley Kingdom bought coastline territory that the Demon Lord had conquered, and is such spreading their goods across the sea, many of which are sold to various Human Merchant Nations, many of them bought secondhand from the Demon Realm, where they are disseminated even amongst anti-Monster nations in the Alliance.

The Dark Elves

Historically the Dark Elves where the Elven tribes who lived in the lands that would become the Demon Realm, but stubbornly clung to those lands despite numerous Demon Lords trying to wipe them out. Their villages were repeatedly slaughtered, and their cities repeatedly sacked. In most Crusades against the Demon Realm, the Dark Elves were staunch allies. But as time and time and again the Monstrous Horde would cut the Dark Elves off from the rest of the Alliance. Eventually this brewed bad relations and bitterness between the Dark Elves, and the rest of the God-Worshipping Races, including their kin further south. This worsened as Dark Elves would take increasingly desperate measures to survive, causing most of their Elven Kin to condemn them, declaring they were almost no better than Monsters. At this point the Dark Elves began viewing themselves as an entirely seperate race from the rest of Elven kind. Relations were so bad that during the reign of the last Demon Lord most Dark Elves struck at the Monstrous Horde and the Alliance with equal opportunity, and they looked down upon all other races. Dark Elves were so bitter that they would even frequently war with each-other, both in times of peace and conflict.

Because of their experience of having their homelands continuously raided by Monsters, and continually abandoned by their allies, Dark Elves developped a culture that was in stark contrast to the rest of the God-Worshipping Races. They put little faith in the Gods, and took what pleasure they could where they could take it, whether it be with food, drink, or with sex. They also developped a taste for violence, having to kill or be killed by the Monsters that surrounded them on a near daily basis. Often-times they were described to be less wise, and more dangerous than the rest of their kin.

Yet despite their incredibly sour disposition, the current Demon Lord had next to no problems converting their entire race to her cause. It began with various scouts who were captured and converted into Monsters by a set of Succubi under the Demon Lords command early into her reign, when all Monsters had only just changed forms into beautiful women. Since there were no outward changes in the Dark Elf Succubi's appearance, they were readily welcomed back into their tribes, were they set about acquiring a Husband, and converting other Dark Elf women. By the time anyone had realized what was happening, it was too late. This was the swiftest Monster Conversion in the current war, one that shocked the rest of the God-Worshipping Races, as the Dark Elves had gone from one of the greatest opponents to Monsters, to one of their greatest allies.

Within a few generations however, the last of the Dark Elf males died out, and the Dark Elves having become monsters could only give bith to daughters, so the Dark Elves have become a true race of Monsters, as opposed to other Elven races, Dwarve, and Fey-kind. In order to supplement their need for men, they began acting like wild Monsters despite their civilzed background, looking for men to rape, and take back to their homes. In fact Dark Elves have gone so far as to found the basis for Slavery in the Greater Demon Realm, where they prey on all races, even their own, equally, and to this day largely remain in charge of the business.

The abrupt shift from being a civilized race, to a race of Monsters saw a unique culture arise, that is extremely influential amongst other Monsters. For one, the Dark Elves are the founders of modern S&M, which arose from the fusion of their culture of war and violence, their hedonistic lifestyle, their distaste and sense of superiority towards other creatures, their use of whips in combat, and their fondness for leather (the last one came from necessity, there were little materials to use for clothing besides leather in the lands they lived in. Nowadays though, its simply for the devious connotations it has since acquired). The practice of passing important knoledge from parent to child has endured in a new light, in the previous era parents taught children the best methods to hunt and kill, while now Mothers teach their Daughters how to please men using their Fathers. Many Monsters try to imitate Dark Elf Culture, since their civilized history helped to form the backbone of the modern Cultural Exchange program of the Demon Realm, and the sex-culture that they formed is extremely popular. Some monsters even go so far to imitate the physical appearance of Dark Elves, tanning their skin into a dark brown color, dying their hair into a dark or light blonde, and wearing excessive makeup on their faces and nails. Especially noteworthy are the rest of Elven kind, who when becoming Monsters, will often try to change their physical appearance to that of a Dark Elf to demonstrate their commitment to a pleasure filled lifestyle. As such, there is a stereotype amongst Monsters, and many Humans, that those who have an appearance like that of the Dark Elves is particularly debauched even among Monsters, oftentimes regardless of whether that was their natural appearance or not.

Dark Elves have a reptuation as being a race of sadists. While this is partially true, it is better to say they are a race of sadomasochists. Many Humans specifically think of them as being merciless Sadists, as the most regular contact Humans have with Dark Elves are with their Slavers whose job it is to capture men, women, and other Monsters for sale, and to ready them for a life of servitude. But there are also many who are completely deprived masochists. Dark Elves started off largely sadistic once Dark Elf Men died out, as they would have to look to other races that they viewed negatively for Husbands. But as time went on, masochistic roots took hold. For one, many men they captured did not appreciate a life as a slave. As such, they'd resist their wives attempts to make them a sex-toy, and due to the natures of Demonic Energy, they'd flip the tables. The Demonic Energy from continuous sex pouring into the mans body would condition them to be able to give mountains of pleasure to their wives would be unable to resist, along with the compulsion to give them pleasure. So were a man to take charge during sex, and vent all his frustrations into his wife, they would be helpless and powerless against them, and the seeds of masochism would grow in their hearts until they become perverted masochistic slaves themselves. As such, some men went from being their Wives sex-toy and being raped day after day, to their Wives becoming the sex-toy for their Husbands, and being raped day after day by him. Once converted like this, the Wife would retain her masochistic personality, but would only use it to instruct their Daughters on being good sex-slaves, and on any other wives the Husband might obtain, spreading masochism to others. Not only that, but many Monsters with masochistic personalities, including other Elves who had become Monsters, began integrating into their community, helping to spread the practice, in fact Dark Elves, regardless if they are sadistic doms, or masochistic subs believe that all other Monsters should be treated as slaves. Lastly, since the availability of men went down, Monsters in general became willing to take more and more desperate measures to gain a Husband, and Dark Elves believe that any measures should be taken to ensure survival, so many Dark Elves enroll in the Slavers as Slaves themselves. So while many believe the Dark Elves to be solely Sadists, including many Dark Elves themselves, Dark Elves are largely sadistic and masochistic in equal measures.

Despite whole-heartedly embracing the hedonistic lifestyle of Monsters, Dark Elves tend to conflict with other Monster states often. This is partly because of the Dark Elves holding onto old grudges, and keeping their high-handed attitudes to other races. They largely view themselves as independant, but regardless follow almost every decree of the Demon Lord, since they have no real reason to dispute her, though they prefer to make a grand affair of pretending they might not, just to make a point. Despite this many Dark Elves enlist in the Monstrous Horde for the same reason as many others, its a good way to grab a Husband. The Dark Elves are also not a unified people, like many other Elven clans, they are spread out throughout the Demon Realm in various city-states, villages, and tribes, who often conflict over various interests.

The Nomadic Peoples

Groups of people who inhabit the barren unclaimed lands around the Demon Realm, they survive from hunting and picking apart the various ruins left by Demon Lords, fending off packs of Monsters. They are a hardy people, but they have a poor reputation with Human Kingdoms. They trade with Monsters in times of peace for supplies, have been known to raid other Human Settlements, they aren't a part of the Alliance, and there are rumors they commit various sins in order survive in the harsh wilderness surrounded by monsters, such as cannibalism amongst others.

When the current Demon Lord sent them an envoy, they didn't have as much to give as the other Kingdoms. They preferred to work with the Demon Lord rather than against her, but understood if they gave all their men to monsters their people would soon die out. And so in an odd system, they are given free roam of the Demon Realm and the surrounding area, access to trade, and in return each of their men marries a Monster, in addition to a Human Wife. This way future generations are secured, and grow up alongside various Monsters, who contribute their strength to the community.

The Great North Arctic Region

An isolated region that is subject to extremely harsh winters, and is home to many powerful and dangerous monsters. The land is categorized by rocky shorelines, great pine forests, craggy mountain-ranges, volcanoes and steam vents dot the region, and several lakes, streams and rivers abound, freezing and melting with the winter and spring. The air is cold and chill year round, but when winter comes the entire region freezes over, being frequently struck by powerful blizzards. The further north one goes the colder it becomes until you reach a icy-wasteland that is frozen year-round.

The land is difficult to farm, and poor in valuable metals that make many lands wealthy, but it is abundant in resources like timber, fish, fur, and meat, as well as metals like Iron and Copper. As such, there is lucrative trade made between it and the Order Nations to the south. Men, women, and Monsters of this region have pale skin, and hair colors like red and blonde are dominant. The people here are raised with honor and tradition, combined with the hardy lifestyle their home subjects them to, and the routine hunting and defending themselves from strong monsters mean the people here are warriors and sailors of great renown. While devout members of the Order, and most are members of the Anti-Monster alliance, the remoteness of their Kingdoms mean that they rarely provide much aid against the Demon Realm, frequently caught up in their own problems. Nonetheless, companies are often sent to the Heartlands as shock-troopers, who carve their way through fronts of Monsters.

The Ice Plains

An area of tundra at the northernmost point in the world, the land here is frozen constantly year round. Few come here but daring adventurers, hardy Monsters, and the Nomadic Peoples. Ruins from a former empire can be found here, buried in the snow and ice, mountains dig out into the sky, and blizzards are exceedingly common. The days and nights can last for weeks, and occasionally the Northern Lights, the Aurora Borealis will appear, sometimes being seen as far south as the Minor Border Nations.

The only power of note here is the Ice Queen, who rules over the Glacies. She commands a vast swath of land here, though there is little power of wealth to it, she is still the undisputed master of the realm, able to withstand the cold, and bend it to her will, to fight her here would be madness. She lies far from any other power in the center fo this frigid land in a massive and ornate Ice Palace, which serves as the capital of her Kingdom. She has sided with the Demon Lord, though her contributions to the war have been small, though she is especially antagonistic of the North Arctic Kingdoms.

The Snow Elves

The local elven tribes of the Region. While mostly similar to their Heartland forest cousins, they differ in temperament, and can be identified by their pale complexions that are typical of the region. While Elves of all stripes are typically isolationist, the Snow Elves are too, but only due to the remoteness of the land they live in. The Snow Elves live in small hidden concentrations dotting all across the region, made hospitable by the Elves magic. While still covered in snow and ice, their magic makes their surroundings survivable compared to the icy wasteland of death that surrounds them, allowing them to grow many crops and rear many animals even in the heart of winter.

The Snow Elves are hard workers and tradesmen, and they often travel from one settlement to another, and are in frequent trade and contact with surrounding settlements of friendly monsters, Humans and other Demi-Humans. A great many magic wonders are rumored to be found in these small villages, and the elves are proficient craftsman. However because of their remoteness and relatively peaceful lifestyle the Snow Elves are very poor hunters and warriors. In order to deal with threats, they rely on others, often bartering or buying the service of warriors to help protect or procure what they need, traveling as far as the Jagged Coast to procure what they need.

The doctrine of the Elves differs from many others, Demi-Human or Monster. It stresses non-violence and charity. Hence they subsist on trade, and rely on others for defense. They frequently give gifts to close friends, and those they recently meet in the hopes of forever promoting good relations.

The Snow Elves are viewed with some suspicion by the Humans of the land, as they seem so mysterious, able to survive in their harsh environment despite being such poor warriors, and heaving friendly relations with some monsters does not add up for many. Most nations in the area have a strong warrior tradition as well, and look down on the pacifistic elves. Thankfully the Elves have little to worry about, as their kindly demeanor helps prevent problems, and their frequent trade and charity with neighboring settlements keeps relations high.

That said, the Snow Elves are not tolerant of everyone, they have no patience for those who would try to take advantage of charity, and likewise while they admire Monsters who love and cherish their husbands, they view wild monsters who would rape any man they see much like Humans, and are likewise intolerant of the practices of the Demon Lord and the Ice Queen.

When it comes to marrying outside of their tribe, it is not forbidden or looked down upon as with many other Elves, instead it is simply something that happens relatively rarely, as the settlements of the Snow Elves are so remote and hard to find. Many young Elves decide to marry those they meet on trade expeditions, but the number relative to those who stay in their settlements is low enough that it has never been a cause of reform. However Snow Elves are also all partially monsterized like their cousins, and so the number of Elven Women leaving to marry outside the settlement has been slowly rising. Amongst Snow Elves, it is customary when courting someone to gift them something to commemorate their relationship. A gift for their first date, a gift for the wedding, a gift for the honeymoon, etc. Many also try to line up these gifts with various holidays and festivals for the Gods (the Winter Solstice Festival being especially popular). Frequently Humans are caught unaware by this practice, thinking that the Snow Elf giving them various presents is just being kind to them, rather than trying to respect a romantic interest. However for those Snow Elves who are Monsterized, they prefer taking this practice further. The presents they like to give to their romantic target typically fall along the lines of 'my heart', 'my body', 'my mind', 'my soul' and so on. This means of courting has also caught on amongst more submissive and docile Monsters in the region.

The Mighty Highland Kingdom

One of the strongest Kingdoms right on the border of the Human Kingdoms and the Ice Plains where the Ice Queen lays claim to. In the great many hills and valleys the Humans make their homes. Though often raided by monsters, the fearsome highlanders drive them out again and again. The valleys are staunchly and bravely defended, and the hilltop forts and castles are built sturdy. Most of the copper and iron are mined from this region.

Despite always being at risk for attack however, the Highlanders are always the first to come to aid their neighbors, and are the closest the region has to a central authority. Despite a reputation as fearsome warriors, the Highland Kingdom also produces some of the best scholars, writers and philosophers in the region as well.

The Great Lakes Kingdoms

An area that is home to a number of large lakes, connected by rivers, canals, to each other and the ocean. Goods and wealth coming in from trade in the Jagged Coast comes up through here where it is distributed into the rest of the region, and likewise goods from throughout the region are brought here to be sold and traded which then makes its way back to the Jagged Coast. Many small countries dot the shore lines of these lakes and rivers. Trade either slows down or halts completely in the winters as many of the water ways freeze up.

The Fertile Lowlands Region

The only part of the region suited to agriculture, while many of the kingdoms are small and hold little wealth, together they hold much sway over their neighbors as they control much of the food that isn't gathered from hunting, fishing, or trade. Many as such are vassals to much stronger kingdoms.

The land is seeded by several streams coming from the great lakes, and down from the many mountains. The land consists of vast tundra and cold swamps, marshes, and moors. While much of it is used for agriculture, like most of the region vast swathes of the land are unsettled, and though enclosed by stronger kingdoms and high mountains, this region is one most frequently assaulted by monsters, of which their stronger neighbors rarely can respond to in time.

Perhaps due to this, many smaller settlements have adopted less aggressive monsters into their communities. Some of these are wild monsters who have settled down, tribes of friendly monsters, or imported domestic monsters that have yet become mainstream in the region. Time will tell how these developments may or may not change the current situation of the region.

The Jagged Coast Kingdoms

The gateway to the North Arctic Region, the Jagged Coast is home to many small rocky islands, and the mouth of many rivers that flow out of it. Most of the wealth of the region is concentrated in this region, making it the home of the wealthiest lords. Goods from Zipangu and the Mist Continent often make their way through here. Despite that, the Kingdoms here to not take to just expensive comforts, but still maintain a disciplined army and navy. Despite the blessing of Poseidon belonging to the Demon Realm, the ships of these Kingdoms have been the most successful in raiding the coastlands of the Demon Realm, and are the ones most often to fight off great sea monsters and succeed to tell the tale.

The Heartland

As the name suggests, this is the heart of Human Civilization, where the wealthiest and most prosperous and powerful of nations live. The land lies in the middle of the world, between the cold and barren north, to the hot and barren south, most of the land is temperate and fertile. Whenever a Demon Lord arises, it is this land they will set their ambitions on. The lands here could be said to make up the bulk of Human culture, most of the human population currently lives here, they have the strongest armies, many of it's institutions are spread throughout the world, the Order is based here, a religion which all Humans follow. However the land is frequently plagued by Monsters and Demon Lords, and in the current Era, the Demon Lord is making swift progress, and the Alliance, the faction which opposes the Demon Lord, is starting to falter.

The Mountain Fortress Kingdom

A small Kingdom in the north, it lies at the top of a mountain plateau with a lake lying in it's center, surrounded by forests, and mountains, it is an easily defended area, with a thriving Kingdom at the top, and bands of monsters and brigands at the bottoms of it's slopes, it is currently surrounded on all sides by Demon Realms. Though a part of the Alliance, their standard policy is to close their gates, and wait out the war until the Demon Lord has been killed, and that is what they continue to do for the moment.

They try to be a self-sufficient as possible, however they must do without many goods as they are now isolated from the Human Kingdoms, and being sieged by the Monsters. While sometimes this Kingdom falls to the Demon Lord, more often than not they survive, however their long periods of isolation leave them very wary of outsiders, Monster of Human. Currently however, there is some turmoil in the Kingdom, there is a pro-Monster faction, who believes that there is no need to keep their gates shut to the Monsters, that they can open them and trade with the Monsters, as have other Kingdoms, that isolating themselves is foolish and stubborn, though the anti-Monster faction, backed by the Order, and much of the Kingdoms Army is currently in charge, it is rumored this issue extends all the way into the Royal Family.

Lescatie

A now fallen Kingdom, it held vast amounts of land, stretching east and west, gradually the Kingdoms to it's northern borders fell, one by one, and the frontlines of the battle moved into it's own lands, wavering back and forth, before dangerously coming close to it's Capital. It was finally conquered when a Lilim appeared, corrupting many of it's Hero's, and now the Kingdom has become a puppet state, it's population either fled, or having been corrupted into Monsters, it now produces more Demonic Energy than many countries that have been under Monster rule for much longer, and it's fallen Hero's have been known to appear on the side of the Monstrous Horde. Needless to say, the fall of such a large, powerful, wealthy, affluent and prestigious country has been a great blow to the Alliance and it's soldiers, but still they fight. After all, this was not the first great country to fall to a Demon Lord.

Currently the diverse lands of this country are being used as the base-of-operations for the Mounstrous Horde as they continue to attack it's neighbors. Many Monsters come here for refuge from Alliance Soldiers, many of actively joining the Horde.

The Royal Confederation

A vast number of small and tiny countries that band together under one Monarch elected from the member states upon the death of the former, they band together to promote their own wealth and protection, and border Lescatie and it's surrounding areas. While originally staking it's claim with the Alliance, many of the smaller states were welcoming to friendly Monsters, though this was mostly overlooked. Things came to a head however, when the newly appointed Monarch, a young Princess, denounced the Orders teachings that Monsters were evil, and stated the Confederation should welcome them in. The Confederation was then thrown into a Civil War, the Princess is accused of having become a Monster, some members are still allied with the Alliance, and fight their Human brethren to take the others lands, others have become complete Demon Realms, fighting on the side of the Demon Realm, however many of sided with the Princess, and are fighting for their own independence, welcoming friendly Monsters, and trying to stay neutral in the current conflict.

The Stone Forests Kingdom

A country filled with thick deep mysterious forests, full of castles, fortresses, lost dungeons and relics from ages past, this land serves as the current battlefield in the war. The forests are full of Monsters, including a great many number of Plant-Girls some of whom are neutral, others have joined the War, the King does not control these, but the armies lie safe in their many fortresses, and with numbers, they can safely walk the roads between them, the dense geography makes fighting for both sides here slow and difficult. Some of the walled towns and cities here have fallen, some have been cut off and declared independence, however most of the country is still in the hands of the Alliance, and the people are mostly safe, but nobody knows for how long.

The River Border Nation

A Kingdom that borders Lescatie and the Stone Forests Kingdom to the east, their border is along a river there, the lands they hold give them a flanking position against Monster held territory, as the Monstrous Horde has yet to take the land on the other side of the river that extends north, many knights and soldiers are sent here to strike back at this side of the Monstrous Horde. The Kingdom is comparatively small to it's neighbors, it makes most of it's commerce on the river which leads to the ocean and the coast, it also hold many settlements in the land between the river and the ocean, where most of the population has moved to avoid the fighting. The Alliance holds this land with a firm grip, so Monsters are a rarer sight, most are believed to have fled.

However the population has been chafing under the armies that have been patrolling their land. Their economy has suffered because of Monstrous Horde being so close to their River, and what trade that is left if stifled by the amount of soldiers positioned there, the armies frequently patrol the roads and towns, and their are times people feel there are more soldiers than not. Not to mention many of the nations that recruit their men are not too picky on the caliber of men they recruit, and many of the soldiers have been ungrateful guests, and before the war reached here, there were quite a few happy Monster Couples who have now been forced into hiding because of the armies presence.

Also the Nation holds a great port city on the rivers estuary, which is used as a staging base for privateers to raid the coastal lands of the Demon Realm, and here particularly the men and women feel threatened by the Privateers presence.

The Iron Hills Kingdom

A long thin country that lies on the eastern slopes of the Dividing Mountain range, it is home to a powerful military, a thriving industry, and many miners. Along it's slopes and hills are several forts the army uses to defend their people from the many Monsters coming down from the mountains, the cities are well fortified and protected. This country produces many arms and armor for the alliance, and have enough troops to give to the war, and still be able to adequately defend themselves.

The Elvish People

These Demihumans tend to look down on Humans and other species, and prefer living in small communities and nomadic lifestyles to the urban life of many Humans. Nevertheless, they are as aggressively pursued by Monsters as Humans, and act as part of the Alliance. There are many different Elvish Tribes, governed by Elvish Kings, they are almost as widespread as Humanity, ranging from far to the north, to the south, the various islands of the Grand Ocean, the Desert Continent, and the Zipangu Region. They are also as close to each other as Humans are, which is to say they are far from united. However the tribes of the Central Continent due ally against the Demon Lord. The Tribes to the north have lost contact with their southern brethren, and their fates are unknown, meanwhile most of the tribes have been driven steadily southward, some communities having lost contact, others still in lands held by the Demon Realm, continuing their fighting, others having been completely corrupted and turned into Monsters.

The current Elves fighting with the Alliance, made up of the remnants of the northern tribes, the Heartland tribes, and the southern tribes could be said to be the Orthodox Elves, and they are the most numerous, and most powerful, and their culture is reflective of Elves everywhere. Currently, they mostly live around the lands of Lescatie and the current frontlines, striking periodically at the Monster Hordes, though they are skilled warriors and mages, they lack the numbers to help the fighting directly, and prefer more isolated conflicts, and sabotage.

As the Demon Realm has taken their lands, they have steadily come into more and more contact with Humans, and accordingly more conflict.

The Bannered Plains

A series of Kingdoms behind a range of hills south of the Stone Forests Kingdom, these vast amounts of lands are fertile plains and gentle rivers, with castles dotting the landscape, they are home to many nobles, knights, and kings. They form a core of knights that are sent to help in the Crusade against the Demon Realm, and many Hero's are home to the many Kingdoms here. However, though unified under the Alliance, these Kingdoms are almost constantly in some state of war or another with each other during peace, with complex relations between each country. Some say they keep too many troops at home rather than in the Front Lines, and that they are waiting for their neighbors to falter, going in for the kill. There are even rumors of certain royals colluding with Monsters to get a leg up on their competition, though were this to be true, the Alliance would rid themselves of this ruler, and replace him with one of their rivals, so the truth to these are unknown.

The Land of the Holy Order of the Chief God

The Jewel of Humanity, and it's greatest bastion, it is an enormous city state that lies on an island on a lake that is in the middle of a massive road network of which every country in the Central Continent is a part of. It has high intimidating walls, hundreds of people, magnificent churchs and cathedrals to every god in the Pantheon, centers of art, culture, learning, magic, enormous treasuries and markets, and a central palace, of where kings meet with priests. The government is lead by a Pope, joined by a council of Cardinals, representing the Order from every Nation, each of whom can hear the voice of God, this amount of pull gives them a diplomatic edge over every country of the Central Continent. It is also here where leaders of the Alliance meet to make plans about the war, and how to work together, such members also come here during peacetimes as a neutral location to settle disputes and sign treaties and trade agreements. It can be said that if something important should happen in the Human World, that it is here.

The Order also holds a large diverse swath of territory given to it by it's many vassals, and many of the people who live here are expected to serve the church in one way or another, and it has an enormous army, which it contributes to the war effort, of the soldiers in the Alliance, a significant number of them come from this land. While most people live their lives day-to-day, the Order makes almost all of the decisions, and is the most Anti-Monster out of all the Alliance Members, and as such, there are hardly any Monsters to be found in these lands. Any that are, are swiftly persecuted. If a village were to be visited by say, a Succubus, and the town was turned into Monster, even briefly becoming a Demon Realm, the area would swiftly be retaken, and those made into monsters persecuted. As such, there are few Monster-Friendly states in and around lands where the Alliance holds a lot of sway.

It is believed that since the Order is made up of Holy Men, men who devote themselves to the Gods, that they do not fall prey to the same vices and petty issues as do Royals and common men. This is not true, many of the Cardinals are prone to taking bribes to way in on decisions in any particular way, and it is quite the cutthroat competition to decide the Pope. The only exception is that the Cardinals avoid any type of sexual scandal, as such behavior is quite Monstrous, and they would easily be expelled and excommunicated were such a scandal come to light.

The Great Blue Lake Nations

A series of rich prosperous Kingdoms surrounding an enormous lake, large enough to be it's own ocean, their lands lie on it's coasts, it's islands, and it's rivers, boats constantly cross here without fear for the wrath of Poseidon. Some are small, others are great, and most make their living on the exchange of goods that are constantly crossing the waters. As in the Bannered Plains, the competition between the countries here are fierce, but they are much more friendly rivalry than anything else, preferring to outdo each other in profit, and competitions rather than war, so this is a rather stable area.

They are members of the alliance, providing much gold to the cause, and most of their soldiers and men, as the area is peaceful they are better suited towards the front lines, and each is trying to turn the war into their favor, harshly competing to contracts with other Alliance members. However recently in attempts to gain an edge over the Competition, many countries have begun selling in Monster goods, which are surprisingly popular amongst the rich, and will trade with the unaffiliated Monster Communites under the table for these goods, some of more bold are even brining in Mamano workers into their cities, though officially they still denounce all Monsters. Only time will tell how this may upset the current balance.

The Magitec Institute

A union of Mages, Wizards and Sorcerers, it has spread it's influence throughout the entire continent, and past the Great Ocean. Their aim is to use magic to better Humanities lives and standard of living, spend their own lives learning and discovering new things, and spreading knowledge throughout the world. While this was their original goal, and still is, practices can very from institution to institution. Some can be quite elitist, others more concerned with power, and combat, others extremely corrupt, the Magitec Institute however is still a force that has done more good than bad, and is completely backed by the Order.

The original institute started as a meeting between a group of friends, it then grew into it's own association, where their influence grew throughout their home city, before spreading around the world. That home city has since come to be completely owned by the Magitec Institute, it forms it's own country, and it gets visitors traveling from all around the world to come learn and study here. The City is a marvel of engineering, most of it's workings seem like magic, the truth is half of it is just pure innovative technology, leading by example, it hold the worlds largest library, officially owned by the Order, that has copies of every record ever made.

Many of it's branches throughout the continent in the era's of Demon Lord are frequently looted and burned, though it's rare for a Demon Lord to come this far south, it has still been known to happen, and the city has been razed to the ground before. As such, the city is riddled with secret rooms, passages, and vaults, where everything of importance is hidden, in the case that a Demon Lord comes this far and destroys the city, everything of importance will be safe. The current Demon Lord however has been quite careful about destroying centers of knowledge, preferring to loot the knowledge itself, and many Magitec Universities survive in the Demon Realm, wholeheartedly intact, or converted into something else, such as a Sabbath.

The Institute has also been fascinated with Monsters, as they are the cause for the most Human deaths throughout the war, they believe if they can understand Monsters, they can better fight against them, and perhaps even civilize them one day. In deed many of the breakthroughs here have helped to end Demon Lord era's. In that, they approach Monsters today the same way they always have. Each Institute does it's own studies, and experiments, reporting the findings to the main branch, and their own practices regarding monsters varies on the country they live in, the main branch has an odd arrangement.

The Order and other members of the Alliance will frequently send Monster and Monster Couples here to be experimented upon. Nobleman will even send their corrupted daughters here in the hopes the Institute may be able to reform them. Most of these experiments go on behind closed doors, which range from autopsies, interviews, social experiments, observation, testing the materials the use and produce, to anything else the scholars here think might help. Treatment of the Monsters varies by the Scholar, some see them as nothing but evil, unable to be pitied or feel emotion, others treat them as people, as of yet there are no set rules on how to treat Monsters, just that they should be kept alive if possible for future experiments. Despite all this, and the fact that the Institute follows the Order, and is a key part of the Alliance, Monsters can be seen freely roaming the streets here. Some of this is for experiments, others are actually brought in to teach the scholars on Monster practices and culture, most brought here against their wishes have spells cast on them to control their behavior, and keep them from attacking others. While oppressive, this means they do not have to be chained or kept in prisons, and may freely roam the city within limits. Again, this practice varies on the scholar who is overseeing them.

The Amazoness Tribe

Once a mighty ancient female led and dominated civilization, they were assaulted by a group of Succubi, and converted into Monsters. As such the Alliance was forced to come in, and after a great many battles their civilization was destroyed, and the Amazons were forced to scatter. Many of them now form their own tribes, communities and villages, separate from each other, and quite different in their practices. Some of them are welcoming of monsters into their community to better work together. Others still see themselves as Human, and are antagonistic to other Monsters, or see them as competition for men. Some prefer to work with Humans for trading supplies, and even men, while others blame Humans for the fall of their civilization, and will raid towns and villages for goods and men. However they all have a strong warrior instinct in them, all Amazonesses are expected to be able to handle a weapon and defend themselves, and they all see men as the weaker species, good only for being homemakers.

The Amazoness tribes have scattered throughout the southern region, preferring to stay out of the lands of key member of the Alliance, living in the wilderness off of the land, in forests, jungles, mountains and plains. Some are incredibly hostile and serve as threats for local communities, others ingrain themselves into the community, and others still prefer a nomadic lifestyle, continuing to search for a new homeland to found an even greater Amazoness civilization. For the most part the Amazoness are a third party to the current conflict, and will prey just as much on Humans as other Monsters, in fact they are quite feared amongst Monsters as Husband Stealers, as they have the strength to do so, and keep hold of these Husbands.

The Great Bay Countries

The Southernmost countries of the Central Continent, the climate here is tropical, and the winters are mild, home to tropical forests and great sandy beaches, the bay forms a great crescent ending at the Great Cliffs, many large countries are here, settled on the coastline, on the rivers, and on the islands in the bay. Sea trade here has been less affected by Poseidon in the shallows, the odd storm or two still happens.

Most of these countries aren't truly in the Alliance, though they are still affiliated with them, and trade with them, the Demon Lord rarely comes this far south. Most of these countries, while still a part of the Order, are relatively Monster-Friendly, quite a few of the Nations here are in fact Monster Kingdoms, a few are even proper Demon Realms, though these are much rarer than in the north, and engage in as much trade as their Human Neighbors, more so since their ships are never taken by Poseidon's storms.

The lands here are rougher, untamed, most people to the north prefer not to come here, as many wild communities, of Humans and Monster are known to prey on the roads, and Pirates have been known to make a living in the bay.

The Interior

The Interior of the Heartland Continent

A vast swath of plains, marshes and wastelands. Humans here follow the Order, but are to isolated from the powerful Alliance to affect much of the broader world, and are at the mercy of roving bands of Monsters, many of whom have carved out their own states from the barren lands, and routinely raid Human Nations for husbands.

The Marshes March

An enormous Desolate Swamp that almost serves as an extension for the Demon Realm. It is populated by many beastmen, insect-races, and some pockets of undead. Many rivers cross through here, unloading their contents of water on the land around them. Various Human outposts dot the land to the south, scraping out a meager existence. Some become desperate enough to walk into the marshes in hope that a Monster will take them and provide for them. Incursions from the Demon Realm from monsters looking for Husbands happen occasionally, swarming some, and turn it into a Monster Village over the course of a single night.

The Volcano Basin

Directly north of the Marshes March lies a series of active Volcano, it shields the swamps from great gusts of arctic wind, keeping the northern area relatively temperate in the warm seasons. Its sides are covered in snow, glaciers, ice and storms. But in contrast to the cool air and temperature of the surrounding area, it is home to many monsters with an affinity to fire, who live within the areas many caverns warmed by the heat of the earth, these Monsters often wander out and come in conflict with the many ice Monsters who have moved south from the Arctic Region.

Many adventurers come here in seek of the treasures left in the dungeons of a long dead civilization that had been built into the Volcanoes, where they are preyed upon by monsters.

The Ashlands

Coming soon...

The Dividing Mountain Range

A massive range of mountains that divides the land, it has snow-capped mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, valleys, and canyons. Many cave and mountain dwelling Monster live here, and prey on the countries at their slopes, and the people who live here. However the people in the towns and villages here are mostly unconcerned with the War against the Demon Lord, the monsters that attack them are wild and unaffiliated with her, and they are much more concerned about defending themselves from them. Walls and forts dot the mountains of groups of people trying to survive. Many of the people here have allied themselves with friendlier Monsters in order defend themselves against the more antagonistic ones, such as the Ogres and Orcs. Most of the people here are unaffiliated with the war at large, though both sides will move troops through here, both prefer not to, as the terrain is quite treacherous.

The High Plateau Kingdom

A Kingdom lying in the valley of the Dividing Mountain Range, its capital lies at a shore of a lake in the center of the Valley. Its soldiers are strong and stout, many of them guarding the many mountain passes that allow travelers to go from kingdom to kingdom. Despite this, the Kingdom is frequently harassed by the monsters that live in the many peaks and caves that surround its borders, but aside from the Mountain Guard, many of its soldiers have been sent away as part of the greater war effort against the Demon Lord.

So in order to protect themselves, the people of this Kingdom often form small militias to fight off the ravenous monsters, while the wealthier cities and town employ various mercenaries to help them.

The Southern Highlands Kingdom

A nation directly south of the Great Dividing Range, it holds to a significant portion of the Great Bay Coast. While its official rhetoric is that of the Order's, in truth it is much more cosmopolitan, thanks to its vast hills that allow many Monsters to make their homes. Even in many of its Human Villages, Monsters and Monster couples are a common sight, and even in its prosperous cities Domesticated monsters are tolerated.

Its hill and mountain troops are frequently donated to the War with the Demon Lord

The Great Grassland Kingdom

A large swath of land to the west of the Dividing Mountain Range, it is mostly plains and wastelands, it is a very poor nation, with most of the population made up of farmers who make just enough to feed themselves, they are part of the Alliance, but have too small an army to adequately patrol the large amounts of land they hold, and as such the people are prey to the Monsters who live in the fields, and come down from the Mountains. Though officially anti-Monster, many of the villages have made deals with neighboring Monster Communities to survive, mostly the Beastmen, however many of the Monsters have joined up with the Monstrous Horde, and raid these settlements.

Usually the Great Grassland Kingdom holds roads leading to the north in Lescatie, and to the South to the Holy Order, circumventing the Dividing Mountain Range, with the fall of Lescatie, commerce has suffered, and the Monsters have grown more bold. Fortunately the fighting here has been limited to skirmishes, with the Horde concentrating on the Kingdoms to the east, the land is often overrun by Monsters in the time of a Demon Lord, and is threatened with becoming so again.

Currently various Monster Tribes have carved out petty kingdoms and queendoms from the plains of the Great Grassland Kingdom, even though the de jure lands still belong to the King, with such an inadequate army, the Monsters reign with impunity.

Polove

A small country south of the Great Grassland Kingdom, it was initially destitute, a part of the Alliance in name only, with nothing to really contribute, the land was desolate, and barren as could be, life was a struggle in the best of times, it was so bad, even Monsters would struggle here, and the richer nations ignored their plight as their was little to gain in helping them, not to mention their interests were focused on the war.

The situation has changed in recent years through a series of events. The Magitec Instutite has had a presence here for a long time, but in the years of the previous Demon Lord, an Elementalist Faction, started gaining more influence here, their vision was to use Elemental Magic to repair their land, and raise the affluence of their land. A specific Elementalist discovered the use of Demonic Elementals, and with them was able to make the land plentiful and wealthy. However in doing so, the use of Demonic Energy soon turned the small country into a Demon Realm. This has caused the Elementalist Faction, which is widespread throughout the Human Kingdoms, to splinter into two camps, those who promote the use of Demonic Elementals, and use them to enrich the surrounding lands, and the Elmentalists who condemn the use of Demonic Elementals, needless to say the Order backs the latter faction.

Despite being a Demon Realm, and welcoming of Monsters, they do not side with the Demon Lord, though many of the Monster Inhabitants will try to move from here to there. They are persecuted by the Alliance however, but the many Elementalist Magi here, though they disapprove of using their Elementals in war, are more than capable of defending themselves, and so the Alliance is satisfied with leaving an army on Poloves borders to keep watch. They do however have a healthy trade going with various Monster Communities, and Monster-friendly nations.

The Long Canyon

A massive canyon that delves deep into the earth, where a river fed from the Marshes March lies at its bottom, it is populated with nothing but monsters, who reside in its many crags and crevices. This geographic feature effectively cuts off civilization from the rest of the mysterious interior. What lays beyond the canyon is an area known only as the Far West, home to barren Mesa's and vast wastelands, were only Monsters, Nomads, Barbarian Tribes, and intrepid explores live.

The Centaur Tribes

A type of Beastmen that are well-received by Order Nations, they travel across the many plains of the interior, thriving here. Centaurs are known for their intelligence and strength, navigating by the stars, and fending off other monsters. They have a strict honor code that governs their every-day life, and part of this honor code compels them to lend their services to the many struggling Human Settlements in the area, providing them with much needed trade, as well as lending their arms as mercenaries.

The Far West

Coming Soon...

The Grand Ocean

A single massive ocean under the domain of the Sea-Goddess Poseidon, it possess a great bounty of wealth within it, and ships of all continents cross through here to each others perches, it also home to numerous sea-Monsters, many though, especially the Mermaid Tribes, are rather friendly to sailors, and tend not even to be that aggressive. However, Posiedon has since sided with the Demon Lord in the current war, and as such Alliance ships frequently find misfortune on the sea, and occasionally a ship will be sunk to give husbands to the various sea-monsters. The ocean is host to bountiful prosperous ports and beautiful beaches, and innumerable islands home to all ways and shapes of life.

The Demon Realm Coast

Originally a stretch of land held by the Minor Border nations that only saw visitors who were stopping off between the North Arctic Kingdoms and the Golden Coast Nations, it is has been completely rebuilt under the Demon Lord. Most of the land was either sold or taken by the Demon Lord, and each port city functions under it's own governor, essentially acting as City-States, and have become prosperous centers of trade. The goods that come here come from other Monster Nations, further south, on other Continents, such as the Zipangu region, and from the various Mermaid Kingdoms from beneath the water. Often the Alliance will try to raid these now-prosperous lands, but usually the Mamano can fight them off, especially with the aid of Mermaids and Poseidon the Sea Goddess.

The Golden Coast Nations

The Human Realms, Kingdoms, and Republics that line the coast from the north to the south, they are wealthy, sending off goods from the Central Continent, and receiving goods from far-off lands. Goods and items from all over the words are here, in fact the fine dishes they serve with exotic spices are seen as the height of Human Quisine, and are highly sought after. They are nominally a part of the Alliance, but their troops are small, and mostly donate money to the cause, even though a few of their nations have begun to fall to the Demon Lord.

However these Coastal Nations have been much more tolerant to Monsters than most other Human Kingdoms. A large part of this is necessitated by the fact that Poseidon will sink ships of men unclaimed by Monsters of her people, so most ships must either have crews of the Husbands of Monsters, who will move through the seas unharmed, or artificially spread the scent of monsters on the ship. In addition most of the sailors here have a history of being on friendly terms with the Mermaids, who are officially allied with the Demon Lord, though they are not very aggressive. Monsters can be seen in many of these ports, acting as workers or merchants, some are feared to even be progressing into Demon Realms themselves, though their proximity to the Alliance, and the need they have for trade keep these possibilities remote, if it were to happen, the Alliance would then retake the area for themselves.

The land varies from warm and tropical to the south, to cold and wintery in the north, they are home to wide varied beaches, and low rolling hills. While these countries may lack strong armies, they do have the strongest navies of the Human World, though they have little use for these, as any large-scale hostile action against he Demon Realm results in a storm from Poseidon to wipe out the fleet.

The Magi Island

A peaceful island far to the north, most of it's neighbors have been lost to the Demon Lord, it acted as a beacon of knowledge and learning in the North, where many who could not afford to go to the wealthier nations to the south would come to study. It is home to numerous institutes, for art, history, mathematics, literature, but the academy was initially founded by Mage's, who used their magic to carve out a life in the frigid North. Many inhabitants of the lands in the north conquered by the Demon Lord have fled here, leading resources to be stretched, though what goods they do have, have been rationed incredibly well. The area is decidedly anti-monster due to the large immigrant population, before the war, the island was sustaining contact with many friendly Monster Communities, even the Demon Lord herself was interested in their knowledge and expertise. Though there are still some parts of the island where the Mamano are allowed to live in peace, the Order and the Alliance have a strong presence here.

It is said however that the scholar class who live here have much more pro-Monster leanings, though they are split on the position of the Demon Lord, the Demon Realm, and what role Monsters should play in society. There are seditious rumors of vile and perverted experiments that go on with Monsters behind closed doors by the Scholars, trying to test the limits of power with Monsters. How long the current balance of power will be sustained here is unknown.

The Dragon Isle

A large rocky wet island to the North, this is the land owned by the Dragoon Knights, fearsome warriors who ride even more fearsome Dragons, their land has never been conquered in it's history, they dominate the skies. There is an adjustment period each era during which the Dragoons mounts will change slightly upon the ascension of a new Demon Lord, the current era has seen more adjustment than most. Firstly their mounts now live day-to-day in a womanly body that would quite frankly be impractical to ride. They can assume their previous forms, but it tires them, so a Dragoon must manage his time wisely on his mount. Secondly, there are no longer any males to breed mounts for future generations. This has led to a practice much like the Nomadic Peoples who live near the Black Lands, where each Knight acts as a husband to both a Human wife, and a Dragon one, expected to sire an heir to each. They are a very feirce people, able to fight just as well alone as on their Dragons, even the Royal Family is expected to learn how to fight, and to ride a Dragon. Many Dragons, and most Dragon Subspecies live on this land and it's surrounding Islands, and will frequently fly across the seas to hunt for mates on the coast or on the Minor Island Nations, if a Dragoon ever comes into conflict with another Dragon, they prefer to simply drive her off rather than killing her; one, since Dragons are fearsome creatures, which are tough to kill, and two, because they are majestic beasts, and the Dragoons respect their might.

However, despite these relatively pro-Monster traditions, the Dragon isle is still a member of the Alliance, and a very active one at that. The Humans recognize their Dragons as Monsters, but of a different order, more intelligent, and being capable of being trained to help Humanity, while the Dragons see themselves as superior to other Monsters, and feel nothing wrong fighting against them, while the Order is too reliant on their help to dispute their aid. They hold land up and down the coast, and frequently raid the Demon Realms, holding territory and footholds on the Demon Realm Coast, and act as messengers between the Alliance Nations, including those cut off from each-other. In addition the scent of their mounts on them helps disguise the scent of a hostile human, most Monsters would smell them and think them to be a lover of monsters, when it is in fact the opposite, and because they are 'claimed' by their Dragon mounts, a Monster is less likely to try to take them as their own.

The Emerald Isle

A close neighbor to the Dragon Isle, who they maintain a rocky relationship with. Mysteriously the Island is devoid of any monsters from the Reptile Family, Lizardmen, Lamia, and Dragon alike, and has been so for as long as recorded history. The land is home to rolling hills, green marshes, and beautiful vista's.

The dominance of the Order is seen in strongly in the daily lives of the people here, but the inhabitants are lax in anti-monster zeal, indeed many unique breeds of Monster call the Emerald Isle their home, and country contributes little to the war effort, being a small and poor Kingdom. The Kingdom is loosely ruled, meaning that most of its warriors are roaming mercenary bands composed of Monster, Humans, and Demihumans alike, lending their arms to feuding nobles, and small villages in need of aid.

Despite the countries small power, reach and land, it is home to a wide variety of magic seen nowhere else in the world, sought after by those of the Order, and by Monsters, as a result many adventurers are here, both those native to the Emerald Isle, and those from across the rest of the Order Nations.

The Great Cliffs

An area between the Great Bay and the Golden Coast, it is a mountainous area, with steep cliff walls, with crashing waves at it's foot, rocky beaches, large sea-caves, and jagged spires, most boats avoid the area, Humans will build castles and forts at it's top, however the cliffs themselves belong to the Monsters. Harpies and various cave-dwellers live in it's cliff-walls, especially the Sirens, who love the oceans, while Lamia's and numerous sea-Monsters live by the waters. Here exists a great exchange between various Monsters, exchanging goods, knowledge and Husbands, many Monsters crossing the ocean into the Central Continent come here. It is well on it's way to becoming it's own Monster Kingdom, while unaffiliated with the Demon Lord, it is nevertheless a very important location to Monster Kind.

The Minor Island Nations

Small islands and island chains that mirror the coast, and are spread out throughout the Great Ocean. They are as varied as they are numerous. Some seem indistinguishable from the mainland, some are tiny rocks and sandbars, some are mountains, or volcanic, some are heavily forested with pines, deciduous, or jungles, some are barren. The people that live here are just as varied, some are proper Kingdoms, members of the Alliance, some are Monster Kingdoms, or Demon realms, others are independent, some are just tiny tribes, largely ignorant of the world at large, and the people that make it up can be Humans, Demihumans, Monsters, or a mix thereof.

Most of the Island Nations have been forced to accept Monsters in order to traverse the seas, the more obstinate Order Affiliated Nations have had to suffer forced isolation if they do not. Many Monster Tribes have taken to piracy to grab men for themselves when their islands are too small. Others have formed proper Kingdoms, and taken up trading to get what they need. In a sense, these islands have developed their own ecosystem, almost as complex as the Demon Realm, or the Alliance.

The Mermaid Queendoms

The land beneath the Ocean, owned by the various sea-Monsters who live their, they venerate Poseidon, Goddess of the Seas, who rules over them all, they are as diverse and complex as the Demon Realm or the Alliance, it is near impossible to tell what their borders would look like and how they would compare. They own cities, and there are various small communities of Mamano, they farm the ocean life for sustenance, since Poseidon has allied with the Demon Lord, they have begun trading with Monsters up and down the Coasts. Previously there was little contact for the Mermaids and other Sea Monsters with others, due to obvious difficulties in dealing with land-dwellers, Humans would often ask for safe passage throughout the seas, a right since revoked, and little else. However Mermaids have begun exporting a wealth of resources from beneath the ocean to other Mamano, and given trade in return, many spices, herbs and foods that can be kept underwater have proven quite popular for varying their diets.

It is said that their armies could rival those of both the Alliance and the Demon Realm, however these Kingdoms are largely peaceful, and would have obvious difficulties invading and taking control of Human territories, they do however prove a nightmare for invading navies, as such only quick light raids have proven effective.

Grand Fleet Isle

The origins of this location are mysterious. According to oral tradition it is one of a massive fleet of a long forgotten empire from before recorded history that took part in a massive naval battle of unmatched proportions. Though it was reported to have one the battle, the fleet was too damaged to return home, and instead beached itself on a small sandbar in an isolated part of the ocean.

From there it grew into the isolated city-state it is today. Built entirely on the wooden decks of ships, it is nothing but one massive harbor, subsisting off of trade and fishing, the only spot of civilization in the ocean for miles around, it's a major trading center fo the world. Ships from all nations come to this port. The Isle is constantly trading for material to keep itself afloat, though moored to a sliver of land, much of the City are ships too damaged for seafaring incorporated into the city, or moored by the wayside. Life is generally pleasant, as the patch of ocean it inhabits is generally free of foul weather.

It has stood as far as anyone recalls as a Naval Power, being the only port for miles and having a considerable, though second hand fleet, with every denizen a seasoned seafarer. It's prominence in the modern era has only grown. Being so isolated from land and neighbors, when Posiedon joined causes with the Demon Lord, the Grand Fleet Isle found it had no choice but to become a Monster Friendly Nation. Thanks to this it has the strongest Human Navy that currently exists, and largely dedicates it to fighting piracy, keeping it's fleet well-trained. As such the Grand Fleet Isle is the Lynchpin of modern ocean-going trade, still running routes from the North Arctic Kingdoms to the Desert Continent, from the lands of the Order to Zipangu, and keeping fleets of pirates from plundering the coasts. As such all walks of life come to Grand Fleet Isle, whether they be Order Zealots, or Monster Supremacists.

Shipwreck Spire

Believed to be the losing side of the naval battle that the Grand Fleet Isle had taken a part in, it is a series of rocky outcrops and treachorous waters that the ruins of an ancient fleet crashed upon, and remained forevermore. With time more and more ships fell upon these rocks, and various scoundrels and ne'erdowells came to call it home. A notorious den of ill-repute it stayed out of the eyes of the worlds Kingdoms thanks to the treachorous waters that surround it being hard to chart, and so many ships being preyed upon, or joining themselves up on the rocks. The weather here is harsh, with fierce tides and frequent thunderstorms. It's a wonder the wreckage and ramshackle construction continues to cling to land. Many believe the denizens take part in obscene and heretical rituals to ensure it's continued survival, others think perhaps it is a geographical quirk, that perhaps the same conditions that cause the location so many shipwrecks protects it from most of natures wrath.

Like Grand Fleet Isle it is essentially it's own city-state, but an anarchic one removed from the firm rule of a King, Cardinal, or Patrician. A notorious pirates den throughout the ages sang about in many a sea-shanty. The location is home to much myth, including that of Pirate Councils, untold plunder, and cursed ghost ships.

While it had long been a haven for Monsters, in the modern age the Monsters upon gaining their female forms assaulted any and all scoundrels who called it home as Husbands (save for those so vile they instead marooned on desert islands), wiping out the Human and Demihuman population there within a generation, making Shipwreck Spire a de-facto Monster State and Demon Realm.

Since so many nations find themselves without a fleet, it has become a golden age for piracy. However do to the dangers Posiedon has given to Anti-Monster nations on the sea, the fleets that they do have are kept to the safe coastlines, keeping the coasts safe from raids. However trade vessels that are not swallowed by the sea are no sitting ducks for pirates out on the ocean. Additionally Shipwreck Spire has become the Mecca of the Slave Trade on the seas, with aquatic monsters coming near and far, willing to pay anything for a Husband.

The Deep Layer

A mysterious area in the middle of the ocean, it is avoided by Humans and Monsters, even ships under Poseidon's protection are frequently lost here, this is a place where sailors tell frightening stories of, and where many strange sea-Monsters have been spotted. On the surface it can only be found and avoided by using the stars for navigation, it appears a darker blue than the rest of the seas, but it is easy to miss. Below the waves however, the sea-floor quickly plummets downwards to depths so low that light is completely nonexistent. Little is known about this area save for legends claiming ancient forgotten evils lay at the bottom of these depths, dead and sleeping.

Recent murmurings have revealed that Chaos Demons long since sealed by the gods have begun stirring, bent to the same laws that now govern all monsters. Many fear that these now female and nymphomaniacal lords of Chaos will do in search of a Husband. Some of their servants have spread from the Deep Layer, across the Oceans, and even to some areas of the Mainland, and Cult-like worship of these beings is beginning to spread outwards, being embraced by many Monsters of the Sea.

The Zipangu Region

An Island Nation to the east of the World, it's Kingdoms lie in terms of wealth, prestige and power somewhere between the Kingdoms of the Central Continent, and the Desert Continent, and indulge in trade with those areas. Seperate they would be quite weak, but they function much like the Alliance on the Central Continent, though they may fight and war with each other, they will ban together under a single Emperor in times of crisis. Though the nations and clans may war with each other, most of the people live their lives day to day in peace, and rarely notice such conflicts, unlike the people of the Central Continent in the current war.

They have a unique culture, separate from anywhere else in the world. They have odd terms for many things, the look of their food, clothes, coins, weapons are all very different, and they worship gods quite differently than the Order. The believe Gods are mostly equal in power, as opposed to having the Chief Deity rule over all. Where as the Order believes in sin, prayer, and repentance, the people of Zipangu prefer to simple observe certain rituals in their lives, and leave offering for the Gods. Priests here see themselves as simple members of the community, pleasing the spirits as a fishermen fishes, living off of donations to shrines, as opposed to the monks and priests of the order, who try to help lead and steer the community, being paid in tithes to the church. Also, the Order states the Gods live in heaven, and communicate in intermediaries, only the Holy can hear their voice, and only the Holiest would ever see them, while any entity who can be seen and touched by the masses could not possibly be a God, and saying such an entity is, would be heretical, instead the people of Zipangu believe that while Gods come from Heaven, most prefer the life amongst Humans and Monsters, and will try to lead their communities, and help them survive, and act as a part of the community themselves, rather than being left to stand on their own feet as viewed by the church.

And one of the largest differences would be in how the Monsters of Zipangu coexist with the Humans. Even in most relatively Monster-Friendly areas that aren't Demon Realms, there is suspicion amongst Monsters, special rules and laws concerning their behavior and treatment, and many communities only make allowances for certain species of friendlier or more intelligent Mamano. While this is essentially the same state in Zipangu, it is of a much wider degree, there are still hostile Monsters the people defend themselves, but for the most part they are allowed into the community, and treated as equals.

Zipangu is neutral in the War against the Demon Lord, however both Humans and Monsters in recent years have begun visiting the Central Continent, joining on either side, and the nations of Zipangu freely trade with either side, of particular note the Demon Lord is said to be enamored by both Human and Monster Zipangu culture, and considers the cultural exchange with the devoted, domesticated Monsters of Zipangu critical to formation of the Demon Realm as a modern state, many areas throughout her realm in fact look almost exactly like area's of Zipangu to the untrained eye. Similarly most Mamano who aren't native species, such as Jinko, Lamia, Mermaids, and various Beastmen adopt the customs of the people and Monsters here.

The land that makes up Zipangu is small compared to the other continents, some counties dwarf the combined size, however the islands are spread thin between the north and south, and their climates and geography, while mostly temperate, are quite diverse, they have many mountains, springs, plains, forests, and jungles. The Zipangu sailors and traders freely travel the distance between their various islands, as most have Monster Brides on their respective islands.

The Winter Island

A large island to the north with many hills and forests, it lies closest to the North Arctic Kingdoms, and sailors from both areas frequently sail back and forth between them, it has the longest and harshest winters of the Islands, and is home to many Ice Mamano. It is renowned for it's many hot-springs villages.

The Volcanic Islets

A rocky island chain continuing on and off into the north. Cool year round with heavy winters, there is generally little of note here, save for some lucrative fishing. The Islands frequently change hands amongst local nobles, and its a popular location for settlers due to its remoteness make it far removed from most of the feuding and troubles on the major islands. Many Sea Mamano swim amongst its waters, and peaceful tribes of men and monsters live on the mountain slopes.

The Imperial Isle

A tiny island home to the largest city in Zipangu, most of the trade that goes on throughout the Region is filtered through here, so the city and neighboring areas are quite diverse, men and monsters from all over the world live here. It is also home to the Emperors Palace, a building rivaling the greatest of castles of the Central Continent, it has never been touched by war. Officially the Emporer has little power over Zipangu, nevertheless, should he command two countries to cease warring they shall. Many of the laws that govern the entire region go through here, and diplomats of neighboring countries shall chose here to meet.

The Shinobi Villages

Isolated and largely mysterious, they swear overall fealty to the emperor, who it is rumored uses them to maintain peace and prosperity amongst Zipangu, they are largely independent from each other, rivaling the other, and competing against each other. They are mercenaries, and will complete missions in return for payment, lending out their services to the powers of Zipangu, they will also sell their services to people of neighboring continents should they pay well. They take on most missions, but will refuse certain ones that complicate their overall plans.

Of note are the Monster Shinobi, particularly the Succubus Kunoichi. Most of the Shinobi prefer to eliminate any collateral damage, to do otherwise is unprofessional and sloppy, but Monsters especially prefer to take a man as a mate, as opposed to killing him, though they may make exceptions to particularly vile and evil men. While their position against lethality voids many jobs for them, they are still in high demand for their skills and strength, particularly amongst other Monsters, including those of the Demon Realm.

The Long Plains Island

A large temperate island home to mostly plains and streams, much like the Bannered Plains, many nations live here, and will infrequently war with each other on these many empty plains, they are the sight of countless battlefields. Amongst the wild Mamano here, Ghosts of battles past have been known to roam here, and prey on the unwary.

The Mountainous Island

This island is split into two halves, the long winding mountain range which is home to many small communities and villages, both Human and Monster, and the land at their base, which are home to plains and forests and cities. The lowlands are much more urban, more focused on politics, industry, and money, while the mountains are much more rural, and at peace with nature. Many people from the lowlands come to mountains on vacations, and for health, the clean air here can do wonders for the sick.

The Merchants Stretch

A series of coastal cities only within a few miles of each ohter that form the industrial heart of Zipangu. The region has grown rich faciliating goods from the Order Lands to the Mist Continent and back. The region is very populous and wealthy, usually buying off mercenaries to deter warring clans from targeting them. Despite a disinclination for warring, the cities are all in constant and feirce competitive rivalry, and feuds, while less likely to lead to war, and in fact much more common.

Usually the first stop for travellers visiting from foreign lands, such as the Order Heartlands. Though occasionally beset by earthquakes and Tsunamis the cities are relient, and rarely fall into decline.

The Rice Basket

A scattered stretch of fields, plains, and wetlands that have been made into the agricultural heart of the Island Chain. Occasionally fought over by different powers, since most of the grain and agricultural produce consumed by inhabitants of Zipangu is farmed here, its in most Clans interests to keep the region productive, occasionally the Emporer has even had to step in to keep fighting occuring here so vital is the region. Thanks to the vitality of this area, a burgeoning middle class has arisen, who typically either invest their wealth back into the region, or use their influence and meager means to keep a power hungry feudal lord from trying to seize their land.

The Elven Clans

A number of clans, and villages made up of Elves, they are about as reclusive as their cousins on the Central Continent, they still however play just as much a part of the local politics as the other Humans and Monsters, they are strong warriors, but much more prefer holding onto their lands than conquest, Humans are permitted to go through their lands, though they dislike having them stay and live there. Thusly, most multiracial couples must find homes elsewhere.

The Elves of Zipangu are renowned for their strong warriors and fierce code of honor. While Zipangu is otherwise flush with wandering bands of warriors selling their wares, the Elves of Zipangu refuse to resort to such a measure, considering it dishonorable. Elven Ronin are highly sought after, Ronin being easily mistaken as simple Mercenaries being in fact Samurai without masters. Additionally because of this, Elven Mercenaries from outside lands go for high prices in Zipangu thanks to this perception.

Temple Island

A relatively smaller island that forms the closest Zipangu has to an official head of their religion. Dotted by countless temple complexes staffed by nuns and monks. They are as varied as they are numerous, from small isolated mountain retreats to prosperous pilgrimage cities. To an outsider it is quite bewildering, and would almost make the faith of Zipangu incomprehensible.

In truth the island is also a sight of learning, and almost all faiths are tolerated and encouraged. While mostly following traditional orthodox Zipangu faith and rituals, there dot numorous shines and faiths such as the Order, Snake Cultism, Elementalism, the newly resurgent Pharonic traditions, and even cults worshipping the Chaos Demons. The only laws the tolerant lords of the region have decreed with each faith is that they must be able to tolerate all others. So while Chaos Demon cults may practice worship next to Orthodox Order Priests neither will come into conflict for threat of having their mission and church revoked and seized. As such missionaries, preachers, and proselytizers of all kinds from across the world can be found throughout the Island spreading their message to the Zipangu natives. Throughout most of Zipangu most local lords discourage the spread of new faiths for fear of losing favor with the Gods. However according to legend the Temple Island was said to be home to spirits who simply desire Faith in and of itself, to whom and how is irrelevant, hence the Island has always stood as a region of diverse faiths and beliefs. Consequently perhaps the inhabitants while devout, have little care for different Religions, freely converting from one to the other.

However it is still an important sight of traditional Zipangu traditions and rituals, meaning that few try to war near or with the island, and the people still predominantly practice Zipangu rituals. Even those who have converted to other faiths often still perform the traditional rituals, or interpret their new faith through a traditional Zipangu lens. For instance, nuns and monks in Zipangu don't take vows of celibacy and are free to marry. This is a source of consternation for the Order which has found a surprisingly receptive audience amongst the Monster Friendly inhabitants of Zipangu, the Cardinal of Zipangu being based in Temple Island.

The Ryu Isle

A hot dry island far to the south, it is ruled over clans of Ryu and their Shirohebi followers, their control over the rain keeps the land prosperous. While small, and otherwise insignificant, few dare to go to war here, for the Ryu that govern here are powerful and could destroy entire armies and navies if angered.

The Great Jungle Island

Home to many Plant-Monsters, and Jinko, the nations here form their own small set of relations to each other, they are almost always in bit of a stalemate, the terrain makes fighting difficult, but the peoples stubbornness keeps them from burying the hatchet. Most of the people and Monsters live in small communities of the Jungle, the friendly Mamano rarely prey on whosoever ventures into the jungle, so life here is largely peaceful.

The Tropical Island Chain

A series of volcanic islands to the south, closest to the Desert Continent, it serves as a popular tourist location for people and monsters across the entire world, most of the people live off of the tourist and service trade. It's not uncommon to see Order Priests, Pharoahs, Dragons, Adventuring Hero's, Tribal Men of the Dry Savannah, or dark licentious Monsters of the Demon Realm here. There are enough islands to serve anyone's needs, some islands are dominated by the Order, and are free of Monsters, others are completely orthodox Zipangu culture, others are Monster Friendly, staffed by Monster Couples, others still have become complete Demon Realms.

The Desert Continent

A vast continent equal in size to the Central Continent, it lacks much of the latters power and prestige however as most of the land in uninhabited desert. It is summer all year long here, and most of the people live on the coast making their wages on trade with other Kingdoms. The people and Monsters here are more tan than their fair-skinned neighbors on the Central Continent, and they have their own history and traditions to themselves. The Demon Lord has never landed on this continent, though raiding parties would occasionally be sent, the people follow the Order but in a different manner than in the Alliance, preferring to worship more specific gods than the Chief God. Most of the people are relatively Monster friendly, Monsters and Monster couples are allowed in cities, this is believed to be because the harsh terrain here is much more dangerous than the Monsters who inhabit it.

The Sandstone Coastline

A long strip of coastline extending from the Great Bay, downwards, and then far off towards the east, the coastline is all sandy, with some small cliffs cropping up, it is home to both Men and Monsters. Numerous cities and ports line it, most of them Human, these are the most populated, wealthy and glamorous of locations on the Desert Continent, trading in salt from the desert, exotic plants from the jungles, and various Monster goods. Many Monsters live on the coasts, various Sea-Monsters, Lamia in particular are common in these southern regions. The countries, Kingdoms, and cities here are not part of the Alliance, many of the Human countries freely trade with Monster Kingdoms on the coast, and in the desert, and Monster Couples freely roam the street, though some cities with a large presence of the Order are completely Anti-Monster, they tend to have less trade with their neighbors. Most of these cities rely on trade from the Central Continent, and while they have their own history and culture to them, are quite similar in looks and customs to the people of the Central Continent.

The Demon Cliffs

A volcanic series of mountains, cliffs, and canyons on the eastern part of the coast, it is home to numerous Monster Kingdoms, many of which are antagonistic to their Human Neighbors, frequently raiding them. As a whole they are unaligned with the Demon Lord, though a few have opened up relations with her. The monsters here will occasionally war with each other, and the Human Kingdoms, occasionally grabbing more land for themselves, as with the rest of the land on this continent, the terrain is treacherous, steep jagged cliffs, flows of lave, and avalanches on their snowcapped peaks. The Monsters here are quite diverse, most Kingdoms include only one or two families of Monster, others are quite diverse, most are rather small. Most recently they have begun trading with the Monster Oasis in the south, most of them favoring the Apophis.

The Dark Jungles

A few miles immediately from the coast are tropical jungles and rainforests, and all the life that inhabits them. Humans prefer to stay out of the area, keeping to the roads that take them from city to city, there are numerous ruins in these jungles, completely overgrown. Most of the communities here are monster communities, with lots of Insect-girls, and Plant-girls, Alarune are particularly abundant here, living in the ruins, the trees, and forming their own villages. For this reason the roads are quite dangerous, and it is advised to take a boat, or travel under an armed guard, as the Monsters will frequently raid the roads for Husbands, some of the stronger tribes will form bands to go on Husband Raids of nearby towns and cities. Despite the danger though, many intrepid men and women will go in to the jungle, searching for lost relics, for rare fruit, flowers and herbs to grow and sell, many of whom are captured by Monsters.

The Dry Savannah Regions

An area closer to the west, where the Desert Continent and the Central Continent meet, it is a place where dry grasslands cover the land, with just enough rainfall to sustain itself. The land is dry most of the year, leading to frequent brush fires. Some of the southern Human Kingdoms of the Great Bay have taken land and settled near here, though it is slow going, and it is difficult to grow crops here, the land is mostly undesirable. Many wild Mamano live here, Minotaurs, Lamia, a number of Mandragora, a great many werebeasts, along with some small isolated tribal humans who live off of hunting and gathering. The settlers here are rather pro-Monster, their strength makes living here much easier, and some of the goods they produce, Weresheep wool, Holstaurus Milk, sell quite well. The tribal Humans here, who much like the monsters, are quite dark-skinned, have numerous rituals concerning Monsters, many of them are worshipped in a manner quite seperate from the Order, and so they tend to get along reasonably well with Monster Communities, often trading their men for protection and supplies. The tribal men and women here are quite hardy, making for fearsome warriors and soldiers, capable of living in this harsh land, hunting wild beasts, and defending themselves from Monsters. As such, many have been recruited into armies by both the Central Continent and the Desert Continent.

The Salt and Gold Empires

Two Empires, one trading in Salt, the other in Gold, both prodigiously wealthy, that lie between various lakes and waterways in the same vicinity as the Dry Savanah Regions. The people and monsters here are of the same ethnicity of the dark skinned people of the Dry Savanah.

Geographically isolated from their neighbors, they nonetheless flourish, and the goods that come from here are extremely valuable throughout the world. Aside from the aforementioned Salt and Gold, there are numerous exotic pelts, Ivory, well hewn cloths and textiles, that make their way into the Desert Continent, and from there to the Sandstone Coastline and the rest of the world. Due to this trade, and their relative stability they are some of the wealthiest powers in the world. However despite this and their well equipped armies they have little influence on the rest of the world. Instead the two Empires prefer peaceful trade and scholarly pursuits. Trade Emissaries and Scholars from here are common sights in along the busy trade cities of the Great Bay.

Aside from this, like the with the Dry Savanah region, these two empires are host to exotic animals and monsters. Both fetch high prices for trade, and are often captured and sold along the trade routes. Many subject Monster Tribes have in fact have encouraged this bourgening slave trade, and sell various members of their tribe into slavery as tribute.

Religiously speaking the Empires worship the same pantheon as the Order, with occasional deference to one god or the other. However while not on strictly friendly terms with Monsters, they view them with no more animosity than any other neighbor, and are far and away excluded from the Papal system of the Order.

Of interesting architectural note is that many structures and ruins bear resemblence to that of the long lost Desert Continent Civilization, suggesting these lands were either once incorporated into that civilization, or otherwise had frequent contact.

The Fertile Rivers Area

An area just outside the jungles, where a series of river and streams flow, making the land rich, if not for these waters, the area would be completely barren. The waters from far away, nobody knows where they come from, and few return from trips to find out, the rivers flow out to the ocean, where some of the most prosperous cities are founded, boats go up and down ferrying people and goods, the land is well irrigated, and acts as the majority of the farmland on the continent, though most of the people live off of hunting, gathering, fishing and trade.

Some say that this area is the last remnant of a once glorious civilization that once covered the continent, despite it's prosperity, the area is quite humble, and life is simple. The Desert Nomads often come here at least once a year to set up a bazaar of goods from far and wide, much more humble than the marketplaces to the north, all kinds of exotic goods can be found here. Recently more wealth has begun flowing to the area with the arise of the Monster Oasis, who count on the people here as trade partners.

The Searing Desert

A vast swath of searing sands, and stone canyons, hardly anything grows here, it is the most barren and inhospitable place in the world. Many monsters roam it's sand, ready to abduct and rape lost travelers, Sandworms in particular roam these sands, the only people who live here are wandering Nomands, Men, Elves, and Monsters, who cross the deserts looking for lost artifacts of previous era's, and make month long treks from settlement to settlement for trade. Ruins of ages past where lay sleeping Pharoahs and Apophis lie beneath the sands and hidden within the canyons, occasionally unearthed by shifting sands, with wealth laying in them rivaling those found in the dungeons of the Central Continent and Zipangu Region, many foolhardy adventurers travel the desert looking for these, only to collapse from the heat, thirst, and exhaustion, ready to be snatched up by wandering Monsters.

The Jewel of the Desert

The largest Human Settlement in the Searing Desert, it is the center of multiple trade routes in the continent, making it a major stop for nearly every merchant caravan that passes it's way. Goods of all kind are found, bought, and sold here, creating much wealth allowing it to survive by purchasing nearly all it's food or water. It's profits have only increased in the modern era, however much of that wealth is spent on guards and mercenaries for the city and caravans to guard against the over-eager monster that have become more plentiful.

A thriving slave market is here filled with Monster Girls of almost every walk of life. Of course most Monster Girls sell themselves into slavery willingly, or are otherwise perfectly comfortable with the thought of being owned. So it would be quite odd in fact if this major trading center didn't have a thriving slave market. It's emphasis on profit and trade, and relative laxness to Monster Relations compared to Order Countries, who typically crack down Slave Markets when they grow too large for inciting moral degredation, means that it might be one of the biggest Slave Markets for Monsters in the world, many of them coming from throughout the Continent, the Gold and Salt Empires, and being bought and resold from the Mist Continent, Zipangu, the Grand Ocean, the North Arctic Kingdoms, and even the Far West. In fact the majority of Monsters sold here are boght and resold for more profit. A monster from this Slave Market is usually bought and resold six times, usually not being purchased for ownership until they reach a slave market in a port city outside the Desert Continent. Prices typically vary on a number of issues. Domestic Monsters make the highest profit typically, even though they go for the lowest prices, as they are typically sold to the widest variety of people, lowly farmers, mercenaries, to wealthy patricians and lords, for their utility. Wilder Monsters tend to go for higher prices and lower profits as fewer buyers are lined up, either scholars or eccentric collectors. Unique traits drive up prices, ranging from special training or talents, unique coat patterns or unusual traits. Additionally exoticism is highly sought after, a Holstaur from the Mist Continent would be more valuable in the Order Lands than it would be simply in the Mist Continent.

The Monster Oasis

A more recent phenomenon found within the Searing Desert, relics of an age by and large forgotten by Humanity have begun reawakening, and reclaiming their lost glory. It is said that Humanity originated on this continent, before migrating across the world, and built might civilizations here, where Apophis would rise to wipe out Humanity in the same manner of the Demon Lord, before the majority of Humans moved to the Central Continent. The Humans here were lead by numerous Pharoahs, Humans granted with divine powers to lead Humanity, however at one point they were forced to sleep in mighty temples and tombs, and their civilizations gradually began to fade away.

Possibly because of the many changes made to Monsters and Demonic Energy by the Demon Lord, these Pharoahs have begun reawakening, all with the form of beautiful women. Upon awakening, they use their powers to bring water and plant life to the region, spawning a verdant oasis in or outside of the ruins they inhabit, they restore their ruins to their former glory, and use the ancient gold they possess to purchase supplies to support a burgeoning community. Similarly the Apophis have also reappeared to oppose the Pharoahs, taking their lands and subordinates, making it their own, and turning the land dark and licentious.

Even asleep, the Pharaohs will attract followers, unearthed ruins make for good resting spots and homes in the desert, so many lived here before their awakening, but their seems to be an increase in the monster population in the desert here, and many monsters have taken residence in these ruins, and will swear allegiance to the Pharoah there upon awakening, even willing to share their Husband with her to sate her lusts, her power is so great, that even a jealous and spiteful Lamia may be willing to share her husband with her. Apophis act in much the same way, but use their venom to muddle the minds of their victim, and instill a sense of worship. This has led both to have a wary reputation as Husband Stealers, but few Monsters need worry since their are so few of both. Both Apophis and Pharoahs are often worshipped as gods by the communities they govern, the Pharoahs usually prefer building up their communities, and restoring the former glory of their empires to religious devotion of their subjects. The Oasis tend to a more Monster heavy population, though they are constantly bringing in men for Husbands, and trade just as much with Humans as Monsters, there are also a few Oasis that sprung around Human Communties that had settled in the ruins of a Pharoahs tomb, or had unknowingly settled on the sands above it when the Pharoah had awoken, these places have understandably high Human Populations, and the additional manpower they possess allows the Pharoah to spread her power and affluence much more quickly than otherwise.

As these oasis gain more power and prominence, they gain more wealth. Gold is relatively cheap down here, food, water, travel and trade is far more valuable. As a Pharoah or Apophis gains more power, the spring will grow, forming ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands, that are then farmed for crops by their people, and will conduct trade with the civilizations towards the coast, and with the various nomadic people and travelers, growing a proper infrastructure. The growth of these communities has been slow, but a network of political ties has begun forming amongst the Monster Oasis, those with either high or low Human or Monster Population, those trading with neighboring Oasis, the Nomads, the Human Kingdoms to the north, and the dark licentious Apophis Kingdoms who seek to turn the entire Searing Desert into a single Demon Realm under their rule. As of the current time, the Pharoahs are in a stronger position, with more secure and positive relations with their neighbors, Monster and Human, and the Pharoahs are much more willing to work together, either forgiving, or forgetting past tensions and rivalries, while the Apophis are much more prone to bickering amongst themselves.

The Dwarven Cities

Great underground metropolises, these places once churned out ores, metals, rare gems, fine crafts, and powerful weapons, and happily traded with the people around them. The Dwarves delved into the depths, carving out tunnels and caverns, colonizing new areas, and founding new kingdoms and empires, often time hiring adventurers and mercenaries from above. But much of this rich history is hidden to the rest of the world who live on the surface.

Since their women's corruption into Succubi, and the Dwarves shortsightedness, the Dwarves have had to cut themselves off from the rest of the world, closing off their great cities, which are spread throughout the Central Continent. These days they only trade for essential goods, even though it is quite rare to see one in doing so. This cutoff of trade from the Dwarven Cities has severely hurt the Human economy. Additionally they have stopped expanding because of their falling population, and are instead steadily contracting, hurting their own economy. These vast ruins have been taken up several Monsters.

However, there are the Dwarven women, who were corrupted into Monsters. They are still viewed favorably by the Alliance, and these Dwarven girls happily aid Humanity and the Alliance, contributing their skills as miners, smiths, craftsmen and warriors. They were exiled from the Dwarven Cities, for fear they may corrupt more of their women and fail to produce any men. Most of these Dwarven City-States still survive however even in lands owned by the Demon Lord, though little news is heard from them, the Demon Lord is content to let them stay so long as they are not attacked by them, and they are officially neutral in the conflict.

Authors Note:

Well this took quite a while for me to write down. I hope everyone enjoyed the thorough read.

I imagine the Demon Realm is supposed to be basically Mordor, or what I expect Mordor to be, but obviously the Demon Lord would try to make everything nice and liveable once she got put in power. I imagine the demon hordes to be something of a mix of barbarians and mongols traditionally. I figure the Demon Realm now is a lot like Russia, a lot of poor cold harsh land now owned by a major power. Obviously the land where there are a ton of Monsters who habitually go on a Blight would be poor, and nobody would want to live there, but we're humans, we live everywhere, so I imagine lands to be more eastern european. The North Arctic Kingdoms are meant to essentially be Viking Land, where most of the Nordic monsters can live. The conquered realms can be host to Monster Nobility, propably of all different species, the undead kingdoms would be good for dark gothic myths. The Hidden Valley Kingdom I imagine is like a much bigger Switzerland, with all the charming towns and cities, the beautiful landscape, the simple life, and everyone wanting to go there.

The Heartland is essentially standard medieval fantasy land, based off of continental europe. Lots of forests, plains, rivers, and mountains, where are the important countries are doing their thing. These would be the most of the important countries live, ala western europe, who are the most anti-monster, because every century a so, monsters come and wipe out half the population. Good metaphor for the plague now that I think about it. There would be few monster friendly or demon realm states here because the massive alliance would just wipe them out. Similarly, there are few anti-monster states in the north, because the demon lord wiped them out. The south would be much more mediterranean in climate, where the more tropical monsters live, like the Lamia would live, since I figure they should be where the important things are, but not all of them are built for the winter.

The ocean would be host to all the great sea myths, and lots of greek and roman ones about the mediterranean. The minor islands could probaly vary from Madagascar, the Shetlands, Sicily, Pacific or Carribean Islands. I personally imagine the Dragon Isle is what would happen if Hiccup conquered Great Britain. Unlike in the real world, I figure there's the one ocean, which all the land surrounds, because poseidon would be streched pretty thin if she had to manage the North Sea, the Red Sea, the Mediterranean, and the Atlantic alone.

The desert continent is essentially africa, the coastal nations act as the mediterranean coast, jungles for lots of tropical monsters, the desert used to be egypt-land and is essentially becoming that again, while the dry savannah is a place for the other african mythology and fantasy

And obviously Zipangu is Japan and all of Asia. More tropical asia, I imagine is in the islands of the sea, Siberia would be in the north with the demon realm, India would be in the places with all the jungles, and the Middle East could function alongside egypt-land in the Desert Continent.

That is essentially my thought process, I wanted to mirror the lands of real life to provide a location for their respective mythologies. Obviously I'm missing Australia, and the Americas, the north pole here could double for Antarctica, now that I think about it, a penguin girl could be pretty cute, but short of adding another continent, I think those myths could just be added to the respective climates of the map I've made. I'm not expecting anyone to use this, though you have my permission, I just wanted to sort out a rough idea, where different kinds of monsters would live. Obviously, I couldn't just grab every species and put them down, but this is what I settled for. I also tried to create interesting conditions for each region and country, making them a little bit different from everyone else.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the read, I'd love to see your comments, thoughts and opinions.
