Well folks, I would like to announce my impending absence, in one weeks times, I shall be leaving to place that I cannot disclose, for reasons that confidential.
However I also have another announcement for all of you. You see, as presumptuous as it sounds, I had been hoping that my work in creating the Reptile Kingdom and all the momono who dwell within would inspire and be used for other fan works. I don't really see my works as individual works in and of themselves, but more so that I have building blocks for other to use in other peoples efforts. Much akin to Kenkous Cross's work in creating the monster girl encyclopedia. Despite this, very few works have been made as such. I feel that this because of combination of a lack of awareness of my works, that my works doesn't have reliable illustrations like KCs work does, and that there is a taboo agaisnt using other peoples fanworks.
I can't solve all of these issues, but I do have a solution that can bring up awareness and perhaps get some usable art, provided I get the support I need for it to work. This solution is simple.
I am now announcing the first RK Writing and Art Contest!!!
There will be two contests, one for writing and one for illustration. Beyond that the subject should be the Reptile Kingdom or one of the native mamono and the general rules that the wiki itself has, anything goes.
While creating additional art and writing is definitely welcome, only a single work per writer/artist will be accepted per competition, however anyone who feels they have the skills can enter in both contests
The victor will be determined entirely by my own whims and opinions, in the event of me not being able to decide, I will put the works that are tied for first up to a vote.
I don't have much in terms of a prize, but the victor will receive the smug satisfaction of knowing that they are better than everyone else. I'll also make a monster girl for them, it doesn't have to be for the Reptile Kingdom either, so if there's critter like a Roc or Nemean Lion, who isn't a reptile that you want, that's fine too. It is possible to win both the art contest and the writing contest and should a person do this, they get two monsters out of it, so don't be afraid to go nuts here.
The deadline is when I return. Now here's where things get interesting, you guys have plenty of time to do your work, a minimum of two months, however, not even I know the deadline for my return. It could be in two months, it could be in December, it could be delayed even further. Hell, if things go horribly wrong, I may even come back early. The point is, you have a lot of time, but you don't know exactly how much you have.
Art can be submitted in the comments here, for the sake of me not having to scroll for miles, I ask that you put a link to your writing instead of posting it in a comment.
Also, while it may be counter productive for you guys to do this, but in spirit of the purpose of this competition I am requesting that you tell others about it. It isn't a requirement but it would be appreciated.
Good luck to you all, and may your best come out victorious.
